Great tehnology review 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is the bible for defining what CRM is, and is not, as well as categorizing all the technology offerings and giving good advice as to how to choose the right technology. I also read "CRM For The Common Man" by Russ Lombardo and thought it was a great precursor to CRM at the Speed of Light. CRM For The Common Man describes how to plan your CRM strategy up front, while Greenberg's book takes you to the next steps involving the technology. A great pair.

What a great education! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was truly one of the greatest educational books I've read. Whether it was intended for this or not, I don't know but what a great business overview of what CRM is as a whole. Paul's ability to simplify and his great sense of humour makes this book easy to read, easy to understand and was actually one of the most fun and informative books I've read in awhile. If your looking for a great understanding of CRM with a book that is hard to put down, this is the one. I can't wait for his second edition!

Editorial Review:

Updated to reflect the major changes in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in the last few years, this third edition of CRM at the Speed of Light: Capturing and Keeping Customers in Real Time is a must-read for executives looking to leverage the latest technologies on the market to reach and retain customers. Learn CRM concepts, discover what tools are available and which ones are suitable for your business, and get practical, expert advice on avoiding common pitfalls.

Editorial Review:

Peter Fingar, author of the internationally acclaimed book, "Enterprise E-Commerce," joins forces with long time colleagues and industry veterans to go beyond e-commerce and on to the solid business fundamentals of the digital economy. The Internet is a whole new infrastructure for an entirely new way of doing business and competing. Economic transactions become frictionless as they move from "places" to "spaces." The crisp and insightful chapters make quick reads for CEOs, COOs, CTOs, CIOs, and line-of-business executives with little time for reading --distilling what management needs to be doing and thinking today to prepare themselves and their companies for the ride ahead.

Now that doing business on the Internet is reaching the mainstream, it's no longer e-business or e-commerce --it's just business and commerce. The authors take the mystery out of the deep and profound changes being ushered in by the ability to connect anyone-to-anyone or any computer-to-any-computer across the globe in real-time. The book signals the death of the e-hype and the beginning of the real work of building hyper-efficient, hyper-effective corporations that will continue to thrive in the years ahead.

The book systematically disassembles an enterprise's business processes, core competencies, and value chains; then reassembles them into dynamic customer-driven value webs and business ecosystems. Along the way, the authors explain the emerging business models of electronic marketplaces, peer-to-peer commerce, e-hubs, B2B exchanges, auctions, wireless applications, m-commerce, intelligent agent technology, B2B consortia, collaborative commerce, digital strategies, essential technologies and Web-services.

This book is choc full of great information and resources aimed at getting your craft business online and making it work once it's there. Also, all the links in this book go where they are supposed to, so I wasn't frustrated by a load of error 404s. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in selling crafts or artwork online.

"This book has an astonishing amount of usable information, crammed into so few pages! James Dillehay has an amazing talent for getting right to the point, with a minimum of "geekese." . . . The book seems to cover all the basics in a systematic way. It makes the intimidating prospect of even thinking about setting up a Web site a lot easier to approach. Of the entire list of computer instructional manuals I have read, this one would top the list. I would not hesitate to recommend it . . . even to my mom." ~ Lapidary Journal

An excellent guide! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a gold mine of information, from design tips to marketing strategies. And Dillehay refers to tons of free software that you can use, so it doesn't have to cost you a fortune to get your business going. I will consult this book again and again as I'm building my business.

Editorial Review:

A wild ride to the outer limits of the virtual world, where real money meets fantasy gaming.

Play Money explores the remarkable new phenomenon of MMORPGs, or Massively MultiPlayer Online Role-Playing Games, in which hundreds of thousands of players operate fantasy characters in virtual environments. With city-sized populations, these games generate their own cultures, governments, and social systems and, inevitably, their own economies, which spill over into the real world.

The desire for virtual goods--magic swords, enchanted breastplates, and special, hard-to-get elixirs--has spawned a cottage industry of "virtual loot farmers": people who play the games just to obtain fantasy goods that they can sell in the real world. The best loot farmers can make between six figures a year and six figures a month.

Play Money is an extended walk on the weird side: a vivid snapshot of a subculture whose denizens were once the stuff of mere sociological spectacle but now--with computer gaming poised to eclipse all otherentertainments in dollar volume, and with the lines between play and work, virtual and real increasingly blurred--look more and more like the future.

How to Sell Anything on eBay...and Make a Fortune 3 out of 5 stars.
26 of 36 people found this review helpful.

It wasn't the best out there, but there was some ok tips in there.

If he was making a fortune on eBay, he wouldn't be writing this book he would be out on his yaht somewhere in the French Riviera. That is where I will be when my ebay store finally scores.

My store is almost 2 weeks old. I have made over $300 in sales and by years end hoping to add a few zeros to that number.

The thing is, I LOVE shopping on eBay, I love taking pictures, I love bargain hunting...and ofcourse passing on the savings to my customers and future customers. I have to be honest, some of the stuff I find, I like to much to sell and end up having to go for seconds. Then again, I love shopping, so this was totally up my alley.

I also have been a photo buff since I was 15, so I love taking pictures and editing them...it's like art work to me. I then get to share. I am still working on getting some more photo props and a tripod which will make life easier, and photography of merchandise more fun.

I am at an advantage, though; I live in NY so I have tons of wholesalers and manufacterers in this Metro area. It's just a matter of finding the right ones.

Right now, I am still in research phase. So far, so good.

Don't give up, if you like this sort of thing...it can really work for you. I am living it, right now and enjoying every minute.

You can check out how I added some of the tips to my store, and critics are welcomed.

www.stores.ebay.com/NYC-Trend-Setters-Outlet

Wish me luck and I wish you the same. Don't give up!!

More to PayPal than meets the eye 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 15 people found this review helpful.

PayPal is much more than a payment system for eBay. This is a wonderfully comprehensive book on the capabilites of PayPal. After reading this book I am going to use PayPal to accept credit card payments for my Web-based business.

Racer-X 4 out of 5 stars.

I realise that these book reviews are supposed to serve mainly to critique the authors' abilities to impart knowledge on the given subject matter (and the case of this book that was done well) but I thought it was important to also comment on the subject matter itself.

Firstly, on the quality of the book; this book is well written, covers a lot of ground and I would recommend it to people of almost any level of technical expertise wishing to use PayPal.

However, after learning the nuances of PayPal, I have to say that I am not completely sold. The PayPal service, although offering some excellent tools for web developers and non-developers alike, has quite a concerning "Big Brother" air about it that does not instill confidence in me to trust my money with these people. Reading PayPal for Dummies prompted me to dig a little deeper into the terms and conditions of PayPal as well as seeking out other people's experiences with the service to find some disturbing feedback (try www.paypalsucks.com to start with).

Of course a company as large as PayPal is going to be the target of some flack but when we're talking about the potential loss of control over one's personal funds (large amounts in some cases), this brings a whole new level of concern.

All in all, PalPal has the potential to be a great service but, at the moment, has a way to go before it wins my trust.

horrible book and title is very misleading 1 out of 5 stars.

If you are from planet Mars, you still wouldn't find this book useful. The dumbest person I know, knows more than is in this book. There is no code. It doesn't tell you exactly how to do anything. It just blah blah's on and on about useless info. Design, Build, and Maintain a website title? It doesn't cover any of the technical side of this like the title says. Save you money and pay someone to start your online business for you. It took a whole book to tell you this????? Save your money.
