Beautiful book, beautiful pictures, not so great advice 2 out of 5 stars.

This is a decent book if you don't know anything about photography. Half of the advice is pretty helpful. But the other half is overly verbose and common sense. For example, 9) Situational Awareness (no duh!!!), 10) Stay with the Situation (duh!). There are of course some helpful sections Color, Composition, etc. In the end I found the organization of the book to be too random for my taste. For example, the author intermixes his stories with the topic that goes off tangent, and throughout the book he keeps talking about how important it is to do post processing.

He's also an advocate of HDR (high dynamic range) using expensive softwares, and has many pages dedicated to using software to make the picture better, even though it really belongs in the processing section. Look, if I'm really interested in post processing, I'd buy a post processing book. Overall, not very impressed with the book.

Strong photographs, weak on techniques 3 out of 5 stars.

If you're looking for a book that illustrates wedding photography in broad strokes, this book is fine. It talks about breaking the day down into different sections, what the photographer likes to have in her bag, some post-processing filters she uses, etc... However the treatment is on the shallow end in detail.

On the back of the book it says "... to inspire any bride-to-be and the photographer on her special day." I think as long as your not looking for more than inspiration, this book will be fine, however it does not really go into technical depth on the challenges and techniques to handle those challenges that a wedding photographer will encounter.

It's really aimed more at inspiration than instruction.

this book is just a glorafied owners manual , I was completly dissapointed in it. Was mostly just the owners manual with some extra words and pictures. If you have little knowlage about digital SLR you wont learn much , if you have a lot of knowlage you will lear even less.
dont buy this book , I through mine in the garbage after reading it.

Information in here will help you hide the flaws that make people not buy your portraits! Get it... learn it by heart and use it to drive up your sales even on tough-lower-self-esteem-having clients. By all means a must own!

The book is very well written and explains very easily how Digital SLR works. It is also small (half A4 page size) and is easy to carry around for reference while shooting.

This is a great reference book for using your digital camera. I bought one of the high end cameras and it has helped so much with understanding all the little this and thats that they have put on cameras. It is a great book if you have one of the high end cameras with all the options or just one of the point and shoot cameras. It has really been fun trying all the options and lenses that I was afraid to try without this book.
