If you think you are ready for the exam and are not sure what is going to be on the test, this is a great book. This is NOT to learn from if you do not know Microsoft Office, it is for someone who believes they know the material but don't know what they don't know.

Reference book for UMlL diagrams 4 out of 5 stars.

This is a handy reference book for UML diagrams. I like the quick summary on the inside covers, useful when you want to a quick reminder of which UML diagram is the one you want to use. I find it helpful that instead of spending pages and pages describing some of the hardly used notations, it actually concentrates on describing the essentials and the typical. If I then find I need more information on a certain diagram, I just go find it in the internet. It is not an in-depth explanation of object modeling.

This book is engaging and easy to read, and the author has a great sense of humor which is always helpful in a computer book. Travis has done an excellent job taking a tricky subject and making it accessible, useful and relevant. You'll find distributed version control and Git much less mysterious after reading this book.

I was a technical reviewer for this book, previously a complete newbie to distributed source control, and now I feel like I am equipped to make the right decisions about using these kinds of systems in future.

Git certainly isn't the only distributed version control tool out there (svk, mercurial and bazaar spring to mind) but it is extremely high profile. Git is used by the Linux kernel developers and has an extremely active community at GitHub.com. If you're looking to use distributed version control, you should definitely evaluate Git.

I couldn't help noticing that there are 3 Five Star raving reviews of this book posted on the same day from Feb 6 2005 (Strange considering there are only 6 in total). I'm sorry but that is too coincidental making them suspect and of no use to someone like me who just wants an honest opinion from an objective reader.

Wouldn't recommend the Kindle Edition 2 out of 5 stars.

If you're considering this title in the Kindle edition - think twice. There are numerous screenshots which are simply too small to read. Text can be enlarged on the Kindle, but images cannot. Stick with the paper edition.
