Editorial Review:

They were destined to meet, but were they destined to be together? Though her heart wanted something different, Nemu knew what had to be done. There was much more at stake than her own suffering or the life of one man. The encroaching Romans threatened many innocent lives. Watching the dark storm clouds gather over the mountains, she thought how odd it was that nature often reflected ones feelings. Would the sun ever appear for her again? She saw herself as a tree battered by the wind and sleet, her heart a frozen knot of roots being ripped out by the damaging winds. There was nothing she could do to escape. She would have to stay strong and hope the storm would lose its strength, leaving her heart intact and Ambiorix safe. Of Water and Dragons takes place on the mystical island of Britannia from the dark enchanted lochs of Scotland to the grand bathhouses of Roman Britain. The battle of Mons Graupius in AD 84 is one of the most profound battles in history when the Romans, though greatly outnumbered, defeat the Celtic tribes of ancient Scotland and furthered the expansion of the Roman Empire. Here, in this untamed land the Romans call Caledonia, lives Nemu (Nay-Moo), a half-human, half-water faery woman. Soon after the battle ends, she finds a wounded Roman soldier name Ambiorix. Despite her distrust of humans, she takes him in and heals his wounds. Though they are from different worlds, they are mysteriously drawn to each other, but unforeseen forces keep them apart until their worlds collide in a fury of fire, blood and darkness. Of Water and Dragons weaves together the Roman history and Celtic lore of ancient Britain to create an unforgettable story of love and sacrifice.

An Enchanting begining to a unique paranormal series 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Jack Harris works for a P-Cell an undercover branch of MI-5 which is the equivalent of a paranormal SWAT team. He had become a demon hunter after watching helplessly as his partner had been brutally murdered by a particularly nasty specimen. Now he sought revenge, for Monica and for the end to the possibilities he'd been too afraid to explore with her. The world would be a better place without paranormal entities in it. Or so he thought until he met Mersey Bane.

As a Cadre initiate, Mersey works for the opposition. The Cadre is a hermetic order, initiated by the first Earl of St. Yves, whose mission is to keep the balance between the dark realm and the mortal one. Their members trap demons rather than destroying them like the P-Cell death merchants. They then interrogated them and either returned them to the dark realm or cataloged them if they were too dangerous to release.

Jack's approach to the job is black and white, it's either kill or be killed. He is totally unaware of the collateral damage caused by his methods until the two meet while tracking the same demon. The attraction between them is undeniable, but Mersey had been told by her mother that there was only one man for her, her chosen mate. A barbaric death merchant could never be "the one". Or could he?

Following their encounter Jack is assigned to follow Mercy and discover the whereabouts of the Cadre. Although he is an expert tracker she always manages to give him the slip until she decides to use their attraction to teach Jack the error of his ways. The truth seems the best way to begin but Jack is totally taken aback to discover that this beguiling woman is not quite human. Watching her transform takes Jack back to his childhood and a memory he had tried hard to forget. She was one of them, a paranormal entity but she was also so much more. She believed in him, thought he was a hero, and trusted him enough to lead him, the enemy, to her home in the hopes of making a believer out of him.

If this first offering is any indication the series is rightfully named Dark Enchantments. Mersey and Jack are an enchanting together and as individuals, each fighting the darkness to bring the other light. Willing to sacrifice their very lives for the other, these two personify what true love is all about. And what a love it is to survive a powerful demon, a fairy's enchantment, and the price demanded to leave the Cadre. It is a love that dwells in the heart, for they are soulmates, they are destined to be together. The ending is only unusual in that it is just the beginning.

Editorial Review:

Recruited by a secret paranormal organization to hunt demons, Jack Harris never guessed the revenge he sought for his partner's death would be this complicated. Jack's worldview is black-and-white--until he is ordered to follow Mersey Bane, a beautiful woman who is also a familiar with shape-shifting abilities. Mersey belongs to the Cadre--a peaceful hermetic order that captures and studies Otherworldly Entities--which is at odds with Jack's organization.

As Jack delves deeper into the inner workings of the Cadre, he finds himself drawn to Mersey like a moth to a flame.

She may challenge all his beliefs, but she brings color and passion to his world. Jack doesn't know whether what he feels for Mersey is love or lust. But if he doesn't figure it out soon, they may become the hunted instead of the hunters.

Very Good Story 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

R. A. Salvatore is one of the finest modern fantasy authors of our time. He obviously has a lot of influence from Tolkien, but who doesn't? This is a story of where his main character, Drizzt Do'Urden, came from and how he came across Guenwyhvar, his panther companion from the astral plane. It is a very dark series, and gives a very good introduction to the Crystal Shard, which comes after this in a timeline.

If you were a fan of the book you will definitely enjoy this. A comic book adaptation of such a great story is a terrific idea. You can read it in a fraction of the time it takes to read a whole novel, and you get pictures to ooh and aah over. Highly recommended for any fan of fantasy comic books.

Loerd Of the Rings - A modern Classic for Adult and earlier 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I am amazed this is the first review on Amazon.ca, utterly amazed.

It is a chase story, a story of Good versus Evil, involving mankind, hobbits ( man-like ), elves, orcs, goblins and magicians. If you liked Harry Potter ( and I did ), you will likely read Rings again abd again over the years.

Read about vast and complex battles and seiges of forgotten ages past, of greed, treachery and of godness, of caves and creatures unimagined. Most of all, of wisdom and courage. The story is fascinating, imaginative, vivid, and of top-notch writing, writing of a quality that is treasured when found.

FIVE STARS for sure!

LORD OF THE RINGS 7 volume: a true collectible! 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I have already reviewed the book. I am reviewing this VERSION of it. It is published in 7 volumes, which is rare. Of course, you can tell. Lord of the rings.. 7 books??? If you look in the table of contents, it says 'book one' etc... on top of that, you get Tolkien's title for each book. So buy this version to keep sealed as your collectible. I garuntee it will be worth a fortune someday.

Well now, THIS book is one I definitely want to be a series...I'd just love to know about the other princes. This was an EXCELLENT story!! I don't often give five stars...but this one deserved it in my mind. I won't go into the story, suffice to say it had EVERYTHING for me. Wonderful hero and heroine, great sub characters, steamy sex AND a great fantasy story. I'd say go for it!! Buy it!! I am desperately hoping there will be other stories for the other princes. Pleeease Ms. Cullen!??

Editorial Review:

The greatest Elven Wizard fights to free Anfall of an ancient evil, and fights his love for the woman destined to marry his brother. In the ancient, enchanted land of Anfall, wizards are dying out just when they are most needed to defend their world. Kasmarin is the Prince Adept, a warrior wizard who has selflessly taken on the responsibility to defend the kingdom with his magic. He is bound by his sense of honor and by tradition, and bound by his oath to find a gifted woman to marry the King. Lauren Emory, a New Yorker, crosses to Anfall to search for her brother, Tim. Pegged as the perfect match for the King, Kasmarin kidnaps her for his brother. A second brother, Sennsarin, tutors Lauren in her magic as the band risks all to rescue Tim Emory. Humor and danger mix in this classic romantic fantasy with a theme of star-crossed lovers. This book has been previously published Warning: contains graphic language, graphic sex, very mild violence.

Epic Fantasy has a new Champion 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were deep and likeable, and relationships were realistic, not forced. The scene descriptions emerse you into the world that the author was trying to create without bogging you down.

The plot is original and keeps you wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book and give it five out of five stars.

Some of the best fantasy out there! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Right from the beginning, the author pulls you into a rich and believable world with great settings and sincere characters. There's plenty of intrigue, heroism, and magic. Our heroes face terrifying foes, and they eventually start to understand their part in an epic struggle to save their home. There's love and friendship during it all, and you end up really caring for the characters.

*****CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS!*****

Conall is the main character, and he's an amazing swordsman. He's also the chosen one of the prophecy--but with a twist. Actually, he is a chosen one of the prophecy, a product of the Council of Watchers that grooms and releases a chosen one every so often.

Despite the cruel legacy, Conall is courageous, and he fights dragons, giants made of fire, and a whole host of monsters alongside his friends. There's Jaehan the wizard, Zike the elf, Mac-Lir the priest, Raedah the warrior (reminds me of Red Sonja), Ghezri the storm elf, and Andree. She's too complex to pin down with just one word. Torn between the love that waits for him back home and the love of Andree, Conall faces as many tests of his heart as he faces tests of his sword.

After the heroes meet Multhazadar-the main villain-and lose that fight, they begin to seek answers. Pretty soon, their part becomes clear, as two of Espyrea's gods briefly appear to help guide them. They travel to the deadly island of the storm elves, right as a massive storm moves in over their home. They meet Ghezri the storm elf, and together, they return to Espyrea to battle the invading army of Multhazadar (the Clockwork King).

The Clockwork King's plans are slowly revealed through the course of the story: his people are cursed by the sun and the moon, and any direct light from either kills them. They want revenge on the people of Espyrea for making them that way, and to ensure their success, he summons a thousand-year storm to blot out both sun and moon. With his army, he is set on wiping out the races of men from the world.

The fate of Espyrea is grim. The Clockwork King's shapeshifters are in key positions, his troops are on the march, and he forms an alliance with the foul and hateful oscugs who hate the races of men almost as much as he does. Cities and fortresses fall, and soon the survivors flee across the ocean to a deserted keep for their last stand. The heroes join their countrymen for a final battle on dark and stormy shores.

*****END OF SPOILERS*****

Storms of Espyrea is a tightly woven story that doesn't leave any loose ends. So much happens in it that I could hardly scratch the surface in this review, but I guess I can say it's a story about epic struggles, friendship, love, and sacrifice. It has amazing descriptions and heart-pounding battles. What more could you want from a fantasy novel? It really is some of the best I've ever read.

Editorial Review:

Espyrea is but one island kingdom in a world rich with magic and adventure, monsters and elves, dragons and prophecies. For Conall, Jaehan, and their friends, the isle is home, and dire times have befallen her enchanted shores. The Keer Ohg--a clockwork foe so loathsome even the moon and the sun would see them dead--have conjured a terrible storm to mantle the entire kingdom. Unless the heroes can stop the Clockwork King and his wicked minions, Espyrea will surely fall. It will be the first kingdom of many, before all of Ahn Daowen is swathed in endless storms.
