I recommend this book for all Powerpoint users, from the beginner to the experienced. Not only does it present excellent powerpoint information but the Designer's Pointer are great! As a teacher, I struggle to find GOOD books that are useful in the classroom. I am pleased to find a book that not only incorporates the basics of the software but also supplies design pointers(tips). This book takes you step-by-step through building a powerpoint presentation. The activities are well developed, the introduction of the concepts are well presented. Someone who has never used PowerPoint before can be a novice user after completing the projects in this book. The book is written in plain English and it's layout is easy to use. This book is a must for all presentation users and every teacher needs a classroom set!

Very frustrating. They have stopped including the CD with the Comprehensive edition and instead tell you to download the lessons that go with the book. Unfortunately the lessons are not at the website posted in the book. I spent 2 weeks trying to get someone, anyone at Prentice Hall to help me. I finally got the lessons (at http://wps.prenhall.com/bp_grauer_exploring2003-1, I think) but there were multiple versions and Im still not sure what all's missing. The first 10 pages are just plugs for other Prentice Hall computer books. Finally the lessons are.. OK. It lead me through the steps to create nice .PPTs, but there is no glossary, and the index is very thin. This is no comprehensive "bible" for looking up specific problems. It's much more of a "one step at a time" do in sequential order book.

This visually oriented book takes you from the basic level and guides you through the many facets of the programme to the point where you can comfortably create and customize a variety of presentations to suit your needs. By the time I had almost finished this user-friendly volume, I was already in the process of creating my first Power Point presentation with total ease and confidence. This book offers the means whereby you can quickly develop your skills through the visual approach method, which conveys information in a simple, effective way. Each page is filled with clear, full colour images that accurately represent what you should see on your screen. Throughout the book, additional graphics bring life to the pages, highlighting supplementary notes and clarifying any doubts. Each chapter builds on the previous one providing a logical continuity, and reading is kept to a minimum allowing you to go straight to the meat of the matter from the very start, making it possible, with just this book and your PC, to master Power Point 2000 easily and satisfactorily. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a keen interest in learning Power Point 2000, even if you have never used it before.
