The book was easy to read and good if you are new to the software and need advise. It is a little short but it covered the basics....

I couldn't figure out how to even make backup exec write over a tape before, so I found it helpful.

Book is written well and easy to understand; however, it is not written for those persons who are wanting to learn the basics of using Backup Exec - it omits much of the details.

Backup Exec 9 for Windows Servers might be a good book if you are new to Backup Exec or backing up data for the first time. As a past user of Backup Exec 7 and 8, I did not really learn anything useful that I couldn't have picked up from the manual. I was hoping for tips and tricks and "best practices", but I only found a few that were useful to me. Also the book is on the small side to begin with and unfortunately, there is a lot of white space and many illustrations, some of which seem to be there just to take up space and make the book seem longer. Overall, it's an easy to follow book, for beginners, but doesn't present much useful information beyond that level.

A great book to understanding XP. 5 out of 5 stars.

With the release of Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows XP, there needs to be reference manuals to help the new user and technicians out. Coriolis, famous for Exam Prep, has released a book that will just about everyone in being able to learn the OS is short time.

While not written as a certification manual, this 800 plus page book will help with the exam objectives. Covering topics like personalizing the desktop, sounds schemes, creating users and accounts, rights, permissions and policies.

From there you also learn about printing, faxing, installing and removing software and hardware, email, MSN Explorer, IE version 6, outlook express and the internet. Coverage of networking is very well done with the home network, small office setup, and remote access and LAN coverage.

Finally disk and file management, security, backup strategies, restoring files and mobile users setup and configuration round out the areas covered. There are exercise included and they seem to be setup in a step by step format. Overall for those new to XP or those wanting a better understating this book may be just what you need.

Quite simply, an excellent book. It should be required reading for any Unix programmer. Not only are the tools insightful and powerful but the thought-processes, design decisions, and implementations are carefully discussed.
There is a lot to learn for everyone. Now if AT&T would just take the tools GPL/LGPL for everyone to enjoy...

I love gardening. If I am not in the garden working, my hand will be holding a book or a magazine on flowers. It's my seventh house and each time we moved I started all over again. But this time we moved south. Different climat, different soil, everything is different. Perennials gardening is still very new to South Carolina. I didn't have too much help from my neighboors or even the nurseries. I was crying for help until I found perennials for dummies. I am now redoing the first bed that I did when I moved here following their instructions on the preparation of the soil and the best type of plants to use for this torrid, humid weather with mild winter. I recommend that book for any beginner and good gardeners. You will always find a new tips or answers to your questions and on top of that they are funny.

I'm a beginner gardener who wanted to plant flower bulbs. This book told me that I had to amend the soil, fertilize, and mulch all essential if you want to a great flower garden. They even have top ten lists including the most fragrant flowers.

Absolutely useless, a bunch of generalizations deluded with pseudo-scientific diatribe.

Tells you the most general (REALLY general) things about web engines. Things you probably know even before opening the book. Can be rightfully classified to fall into the category of "Learn nuclear physics in 24 hours while chewing on potato chips..."

Not bad for a general overview of the whole huge area. Getting alittle dated now. It gives a good background for knowing which way to go though the info is also available online with alittle searching (using the bots :)
