Reminds of "The World is Flat". It covers lots of ground really quickly. It was an interesting subject, something I've speculated a lot on my own and it was reinforcing to have a professional discuss lots of patterns (biology, physics, society, information networks) in a short-form context. It inspired me to write some graphics code based on the diagrams in the book and for that it was worth reading.

This book is worth the price simply for the practice test software. I didn't use the text too much, just when I wanted to look specific items up. I passed this 70-270 exam about an hour ago with a score of 763, and I know I couldn't have done it without this practice software. It contains about 400 questions with explanations. I used this as a companion to an instructor-led training, which really fell short of what you need to pass the exam. I'm a newbie to IT, just recently obtaining by A+ and Network+ as well. So, if I can do it, anyone can...

My advice for exam prep: Take as many practice tests as possible, read and understand the explanations, and practice on your own system=pass

If you think you are ready for the exam and are not sure what is going to be on the test, this is a great book. This is NOT to learn from if you do not know Microsoft Office, it is for someone who believes they know the material but don't know what they don't know.

This helped me learn a lot and have a grip on things in the avast world of networking, This is the perfect book for beginners and it will help anyone get started. This book touches on all the subjects and gives you a basic view of how everything works from internet protocol,wireless networking, to Linux to server 03, and so on so that you can determine what path you want to specialize in but it also gives you enough info to "get you by" on any hands on project or job that requires it. Those who complain about this not having enough info are not seeing the clearer picture because if this truly contained all in one material it would have to be between 3000 to 5000 pages long and this book is already a heavy weight at 800. This book really helped me put my foot on the door with a job at a data storage company, I was able to "get by" thanks to this book and I am on the road to learn more "ccna by todd lammle" So far that book is great too, had I not read this book first, the ccna 1000 page book would be impossible to understand.
