Really is For Dummies 2 out of 5 stars.
19 of 23 people found this review helpful.

I am a long time user of Quicken (Quicken 98, 99,) and found this book giving fair instructions for first time users, but answered NONE of the questions I had regarding features missing in the new Quicken 2002....Very disappointing. May be ok for those who have never used Quicken AND can't follow the HELP from within the program.

Not just for dummies 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 20 people found this review helpful.

I have struggled through various "For Dummies" books in the past, painfully slogging through the dry material. This book was full of lightness but without distracting from its main purpose: to help the Quicken User understand how to use the tools at our fingertips.

I recently upgraded to 2002, and this book filled in all the cracks for me in a very enjoyable way. Highly recommended.

Last of A Dying Breed 5 out of 5 stars.
34 of 35 people found this review helpful.

This is a classic textbook which introduces students to the fundamentals of analytic geometry. In order to understand calculus, one must have a thorough background in analytic geometry. Unfortunately, the current trend in math publishing is to forgo this great subject and present students with an motley mix of topics in a course called PreCalculus. Trigonometry and analytic geometry end up getting the short shrift, with greater emphasis being placed on algebraic manipulation. This is a tragic loss for students on a number of levels. They need analytic geometry in order to succeed in even first semester calculus, and yet for many analytic geometry is relegated to the second or third semester of a calculus class in college, or in one chapter (or less) in a precalculus book! Also, the analytic geometry allows the high school student a glimpse of mathematical beauty, of how things in mathematics work together: that mathematics holds up as a subject and is not just an assortment of tricks for various situations. Hopefully, the trend will turn around and this will not be the last of a dying breed: that others will continue to offer and write expository works on this subject for the benefit of students who wish to continue on to higher mathematics.

Usually figuring out my finaces is such a hassle, but once I read Mr. Johnson's book, I found an easier way. It was so simple that I was surprised how easily I was able to implement his system. The book itself was a quick read filled with lots of tips. I am able to reference individual chapters easily and the included disk helped me put my finacial fears to rest. I was able to see how I could realistically pay for my son's college tuition. Highly recommended!

Don't buy this book 1 out of 5 stars.
20 of 20 people found this review helpful.

I found this 500-page book completely useless. The book doesn't have any (!) illustrations, it's plain text only, and it basically rephrases standard SAP OnLine Help. I found the standard SAP FI/CO Online Help more readable than this book ...

Waste of Ink! 1 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

This book is pretty useless and gives you just enough information to really screw things up.

Great for the person needing process knowledge of FI or CO 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I have ordered/read 6 books on the FI and CO modules in the last two weeks. My experience is that this book is the most detailed and beneficial of all. For someone who is looking to understand the process side of these SAP modules I would strongly recommend this book. If you are looking to learn more about the config, BUY A CONFIG book, not this one. The negative reviews seem to be related to the fact that people don't understand what this book is trying to accomplish (process understanding). If you have a medium understanding of SAP R/3 and a limited to medium knowledge base of accounting (internal and external) concepts, this book is a winner.

very exiting to read and get a deep knowledge about control 3 out of 5 stars.

Inadequate and out-of-date 1 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

PeopleSoft has changed dramatically since this book was written. Even if the book were up-to-date, it is so lacking in detail that it would provide little benefit.

General ERP Implementation Guide 3 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is more of a general ERP installation guide than it is a a book about PeopleSoft financials specifically, which is actually a good thing since the PeopleSoft information is now dated. This book was written with PeopleSoft versions 7.0/7.5 in mind; the new PeopleSoft version 8.0 is a very different product. Still, the general ERP information is still valid and accurate.

This book should not be sold 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This was a marginal effort when it was released back in 1997. It sold only because it was one of the few PeopleSoft books on the market. Now that it's old, it is simply sad that any retailers are still selling this, or moreover that the publisher (Manning) is still pushing it.

Calling this book merely bad would be generous.

This is the best book I have ever read. You must read this. 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 22 people found this review helpful.

This is such a good book that I am willing to run to the authors house and congratulate, and thank him for such an excellent book. For those of you who did not give this book a very good review you people suck. As for the man that said that he was a Peoplesoft Consultant, and he did not enjoy the book. You are the most horrible and evil man in the history of the world. If you were an actuall peoplesoft consultant, why would you want to read the book anyways Mr. Pissypants. This was the best 47 dollars I have ever spent. As for all of the other people who gave this book a bad review, maybe if you could actually read you could apprectiate such a good book, but appereantly not.
