All the details needed for expertise 5 out of 5 stars.
67 of 71 people found this review helpful.

As an accountant, I've looked at all the books I could recommend to clients, because it's better for me when users understand what they are doing, and how to do it right. I found the other books much more shallow, and therefore less useful. This is the only book that has the depth and details that can turn anyone into a competent Quickbooks user. The information about what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and when to do something different is amazingly complete. The writing is easy to follow, and all explanations are wonderfully clear. The other books I examined tell users to make selections, without explaining what they're doing, and without explaining the other choices they have. That's how users make bad choices. This book not only teaches you how to become expert in Quickbooks, you also learn a lot of bookkeeping and accounting.

I had no experience with Quickbooks, and this one provided me step-by-step instruction to learn it. Great book by my experience so far and I may update this review later.

Easy to read and comprehend 5 out of 5 stars.

Compared to the other books I am currently using for my accounting classes, this has to be the easiest one I have come across. It teaches you using a "conversation" and scenarios between people so it makes for an easy read because you can follow the story line.

Novel Illustrated Approach to Learning 5 out of 5 stars.
34 of 36 people found this review helpful.

This book has an interesting and very helpful style or philosophy of how information about computer software should be given. The tag line on the back cover is 'For Those Who Would Rather Be Shown How Than Told How.'

Each page has two columns. The left hand column has the 'Told How.' Specifically a series of numbered steps to guide you through each step of the task. This column also has a few hints and tips, and many have a 'See Also' section to point you to some related area. The right hand column has screen images that show what the screen should look like as you complete the steps given in the left hand column.

I found this to be a very good way to get into the system. When I set it up I wanted to use it to pay bills and balance my checkbook. They have a section in the book - (#6 to be specific) - called Managing Your Bills. I went through the book until I got through this section and then quit. Some time later I decided to create a home inventory for the insurance company. That turned out to be a couple of sections later. What's next for me is the Tax part of the program.

Summary: Fast, Easy to Learn Approach.
