Editorial Review:

For all you do ... this cookbook's for you! This robust new release raises a glass to that most iconic of American beverages: beer. And who better to come bearing gifts of great-tasting, beer-friendly recipes than Anheuser-Busch, America's foremost authority on beer?

Great Food, Great Beer has tasty recipes on tap for grilling, one-pot specialties, and lots of other easy-to-prepare, crowd-pleasing foods. Beer connoisseurs are already saying "Cheers!" to the book's most compelling feature: the Brewmaster in the Kitchen. Created by Anheuser-Busch experts, "Brewmaster" icons appear throughout, denoting the recommended type of beer--a hoppy lager, an amber ale, or a full-bodied stout, for instance--that best complements each recipe.

There's never been a more complete pairing guide than Great Food, Great Beer, and there's never been a more perfect gift for the beer lover in your life.

Features

  • Tasty, beer-friendly recipes that focus on grilling, roasting, and one-pot wonders, each accompanied by full-color photography

An excellent incite into creating cocktillian style drinks 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

A must have for home bartenders that want to maintain a consummate menu in their bar. The book discusses unique ingredients, their uses, and even gives the recipes for various drinks served at the Absinthe Brasserie and Bar in San Francisco.

Why use Maraschino cherries in your bar when you can make homemade Brandied Cherries? Need to sweeten things up a little there are multiple syrups such as the simple syrup or even a balsamic syrup.

Don't be mistaken, this is neither a long read or an in-depth study of Mixology. At the same time, it is not just a recipe book without a soul. The gentlemen that wrote the book provided a perfect balance of ingredients to come up with a cocktail that they have proudly named "The Art of the Bar".

    HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

    Editorial Review:

From Tokyo to New York, a cocktail renaissance is happening as "bar chefs" create delicious elixirs worthy of their kitchen counterparts. An epicenter of this barroom artistry can be found at the Absinthe Brasserie & Bar in San Francisco (a city that spends more money per capita on alcohol than any other in the country). Bartenders Jeff Hollinger and Bob Schwartz share their artisan approach for stunning creations that unveil a new spectrum of flavors. Fresh herbs and even aromatic lavender are deftly used to augment classic and new cocktail recipes. Syrups and mixes are carefully crafted from scratch, ensuring small-batch perfection and a harmony of flavors. Acclaimed photographer Frankie Frankeny captures their virtuoso mixing performances with a refreshing take on the cocktail, creating a showpiece for any living room.

    Editorial Review:

Christmas beers, also known as Winter Warmers, are a tradition dating back at least 2,000 years, with the ancients making highly intoxicating brews to celebrate winter’s Saturnalia. This brewmaking evolved into a holiday celebration when medieval monks, the world’s first professional brewers, pulled out their finest ingredients to produce soul-warming styles for the occasion. Today brewers continue the custom, either with centuries-old recipes or newfangled concoctions with spices and herbs, enabling thirsty beer fans to put aside their everyday favorites each winter and deck the halls with the world’s most flavorful ales and lagers, brewed especially for the holidays.Beer expert Don Russell taps into holiday cheer with a look at the world’s best—unusual, exotic, rich, one-of-a-kind brews—detailing the styles and flavors that will leave beer lovers in a froth. From Smuttynose Winter Ale to Santa’s Butt to Troegs Mad Elf to Left Hand XXXmas, there’s a beer for everyone, even a Hanukkah beer, He’Brew Jewbelation. Including funny tales and trivia behind the beers, homebrew recipes and food recipes with Christmas beer as an ingredient, and instructions for building and cellaring your own vintage holiday brews so you can enjoy Christmas 365 days a year, Christmas Beer will put even the most curmudgeonly beer drinker in the holiday spirit. Cheers!

A "Must Have" for anyone who hosts parties often 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Bought it for a friend who could really use it while on the road to share with others and expand his alcohol erudition. Not sure how far he is yet in the alphabetically-listed line up.

Easy to use - all the shot names are in alphabetical order and directions are simple. You don't have to be a certified mixologist to understand how to make them.

Like Whoa 5 out of 5 stars.
