In its roughly 50 parts, all written by experienced cooks and cook book writers, HP Books' "The Book of ... Cooking" series takes you to the cuisines of various regions of the U.S. and around the world; all in easy to follow, well-explained recipes.

This installment, the Book of Breakfasts and Brunches, presents recipe suggestions for all major variations on the day's first meal, from family breakfasts to party brunches, drinks and entire menu suggestions. Individual sections are dedicated to special occasion breakfasts, healthy breakfasts, informal brunches and summer brunches. Classics such as the good old BLT, assorted rolls, muffins, waffles, eggs and omelets, berry compote, brioche, ham and cheese croissants, corn fritters, croque monsieur, potato skins, gazpacho, hash browns, hot chocolate, peach melba hearts, blinis, roesti, salami and melon, savarin, shrimp toasts, Spanish omelet, spiced orange tea and punch appear next to unique dishes such as grilled citrus cocktail, lemon shrimp, oat-cream mousse, peach creme brulee, sausage and apple braid, trout rolls and watermelon and apple slush.

From apple-cinnamon toasts to winter compote and zabaglione baked apples, this collection of recipes is a great introduction to the endless possibilities of starting the day with a good meal - and at a relative bargain price, to boot.

This small book contains only 30 recipes that are perfect for those "breakfasts in bed" or treating your family to something sweet and savory on the weekend. I thought the recipes were easy to follow and many of the recipes can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. I like the color photographs, but most important, I like the fact that I can plan, prepare, bake or freeze the recipes in advance. Weekends will never be comprised of cold cereal or plain pancakes again thanks to this tasty book.

No time for breakfast? Morning Bakes provides some solutions for limited-time morning baking. Including 30 recipes from muffins, quick breads, loaf cakes to yeasted breads, this recipe book is not only for a quick and nutrtious breakfast but also an easy-to-follow guide for baking beginners. Most muffins and quick breads only need 20 minutes for baking. Baking during weekend morning is even wonderful. Country apple cake, pear gingerbread, sticky buns, and sour cherry brioche are all good ideas for a leisurely weekend brunche.

Pancakes, not just for breakfast 5 out of 5 stars.

I found this book at the library while the children were at story-time. I love to try new recipies and thought I could spice up breakfast a bit. WOW! This book has so many good recipies we may be having pancakes for every meal! Book includes basic and not so basic pancake recipies, including dry mixes to make in bulk ahead of time (great for this busy mom). Also included are flavored syup and toppings. I am hungry already. For the more adventursome- there are meat and vegetable types. But our favorite so far are the dessert pancakes, complete with chocolate and whipped creame. Pictures are great too.

This little book is packed with delicious, easy to bake muffin recipes. What I really like is that the muffins are made with simple ingredients,most of which anyone who bakes might have on hand. I have often given this book as a gift, in a basket with a muffin tin and pretty liners,etc.. :)
