Decent but not worth the price 3 out of 5 stars.

The tips are decent but not really worth the price of the book. Also, there isn't a lot of text so you can read the book in under an hour.

All the tips are available online by subscribing to the electronic version of cook's illustrated for $3.95/month. Not only is this method cheaper, but you also get the tips that were published after this book came out.

Therefore I can't recommend this book because of the amount of content vs. the price.

I bought this book for a gift, but have looked at it myself, of course. It looks really interesting and very helpful. Most books from Cook's Illustrated seem to be that way.

Pearson’s Pond Healthy Ham Quiche Pearson’s Pond Bed & Breakfast - Juneau, Alaska

1 cup soft silken or firm tofu 1 cup rice or soy milk (plain or vanilla) 1 cup liquid egg product* 3/4 cup nonfat ricotta cheese 10 oz. bag no-fat shredded mozzarella cheese 4 oz. can mushrooms 1 medium red bell pepper (or substitute a few sun-dried tomatoes) 1 medium yellow or green bell pepper mild jalapeño peppers (2/3 of a small can of Ortega roasted mild chilies, chopped) 1 1/2 cups cubed or ground ham 1/2–1 tsp. hot curry powder 1 Tbsp. onions, chopped 1 tsp. granulated steak seasoning 1/4 tsp. garlic salt 1/2 tsp. cilantro 2 baked, cooled pie crusts

Blend first 4 ingredients and the spices in a blender. Chop peppers (veggies) and ham in a food processor till the size of small peas. Drain in colander for a few minutes. In the pie crusts, distribute the shredded cheese, mushrooms, ham, and peppers. Cover and refrigerate overnight. The next day: Pour liquid from blender over the contents in pie crusts. Bake about 45 minutes at 350° F till knife inserted into pie comes out clean. Let set at least 15 minutes, then cut into wedges and serve. May be re-heated in the microwave. Makes 2 pies. Serves 6–12.

I was happy to see the recipies broken down into real portions for one or two people. There are no leftovers and they have taken the guesswork out of measuring and figuring out those fractions when trying to 'shrink' a recipe.

This book is nice for those just starting out on their own or just learning how to cook.

I appreciate the recipes' simplicity and that the book is divided not only according to the different meals but according to different types of meat.

I have made several recipes from this book and think it's very easy to follow and would recommend it to others.

All of the Taste of Home cookbooks are great! Lots of color pictures, nothing out of the ordenary that you can't find. I love this book with the small sizes. Great meals without a hugh amount of food left over.

I had wanted to start a banner ministry for years. After our pastor mentioned it to me, I decided it was time to jump in and do it. I purchased this book and another by the same author. I received the books on Monday and had a banner ready by Sunday. The timesaving and money saving tips are wonderful. If I were to have tried making one on my own without this book, I would have never gotten finished. The directions are clear and easy to follow. If you have been thinking of starting a banner ministry for your church, this is the book to start with.

I've used this book for numerous banners. The designs are wonderful...very easy to duplicate and look beautiful. So many books only have one or two ideas that really get my attention. This one is loaded with not only great designs, but beautiful wording. It's a real favorite of mine.

I was somewhat disappointed in this book as I was hoping to get more cooked recipes (especially for Korean Beef) and these are cold/raw recipes. It would have been nice if there was more of a description of the contents.

I do admit it has great pictures and might be a good book--just not what I was looking for. . .

This whole series of books is so well illustrated and written that anyone can follow them. As a culinary student and personal chef I love the fact that there is a picture of what everything is suppose to look like along the way. If you are wanting to cook and try some authentic tasting Korean cuisine this is a great book to start with. Even my Korean friends from church approved at our last dinner together. I am hoping to collect more in the series. The format and food are both excellent!!!

I am married to a Korean man and wanted to try to make some of his favorites. This cookbook really does show you step by step how to do things to make it right. Very easy to follow the instructions. The only thing I would like better is if they were to give pictures of what the foreign ingredients look like. Overall a great book.
