I will now buy another copy to give my father-in-law otherwise he will have me make all his favorites everytime he visits.

Mother in Law Loved it! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 10 people found this review helpful.

My mother in law is an Elvis fanatic, so I thought this would be cute to add to her Elvis things. Since recipes come from his cook and plenty of pictures alot have never seen. She actually uses the recipes too. She loves it.

Eat like Elvis! 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

It's probably not the best idea to eat like Elvis all the time, but nothing beats his recipes for peanut butter and banana
sandwiches or fried okra. Elvis sure loved his fried foods. Learn how to make Southern cuisine and mouth-watering desserts fit
for dinner at your own Graceland, but don't over do it. After all, Elvis didn't end up a skinny-minny from eating all that fried
chicken cooked in pancake batter. (...)

The Elvis Presley Cookbook 5 out of 5 stars.

It's a complete cookbook with rare pictures and words of
Elvis. I love it some much. In this way we know what kind of food Elvis liked. The friends that he had and a lot of things.
WONDERFUL!!!

Editorial Review:

More than three hundred recipes for foods Elvis enjoyed, many of them provided by his long-time cook, Alvena Roy. Contains rare photos and delightful anecdotes and quotations. Illustrated and indexed.

What a Title! 5 out of 5 stars.
133 of 135 people found this review helpful.

When my friends see this book on my bookshelf they often look puzzled. Perhaps they think twice about letting me cook for them! After all with a title like "Little Cyanide Cookbook," the book is bound to raise some eyebrows.

In reality this is a collection of recipes rich in cyanide containing foods, specifically amygdalin, which the author believes should be called `Vitamin B17.' This chemical is also known as `laetrile' which is the biggest name (some would say biggest shame) in alternative cancer therapies. Some scientists hold the theory that eating enough of these cyanide-containing sugars (which incidentally are anti-oxidants) will prevent cancer. Indeed many societies that are free from cancer (such as the Hunzas) consume quite a bit of these sugars. I have investigated the whole laetrile controversy for many years, which is why I own the book.

I can't say that I completely swallow all of the theory, but if you do, or are just investigating cyanide-containing chemicals as a cancer preventative, this book should be of use. The only drawback is that many of our favorite foods do not contain these "cyanogenic glycosides," so the recipes may be hard to put together. Also, many of the recipes call for ground-up apricot seeds, which are semi-legal and bitter tasting. For those wondering, there is no real danger of cyanide poisoning from the recipes that De Spain promotes. Some of the foods that contain cyanide which we eat everyday in large amounts are: lentils, millet, blackberries, raspberries, buckwheat, lima beans, and peas.

Editorial Review:

A professional nutritionist offers over 300 tasty recipes rich in the cyanide containing substance that many scientists believe is nature’s control for cancer. Cyanide, in minute quantities and in proper food forms, instead of being poisonous, actually is essential to health. 192-page book.

saves room in your fridge! 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

My husband and I received this book for our wedding, and 4 years later we still love it. All our other books yielded 4 servings in most recipes, and we would end up with piles of tupperware containers in the fridge holding leftovers that inevitably went bad. We have tried all of the entree recipes in the book and love them. There are also a lot of recipes for soups, salads, and even some sandwiches food that is easily portable. My husband is the cook in our house- I rarely cook, and am very much a beginner, but all of these recipes were simple enough for me. Yes, there is a lot of chicken, but I don't know too many people who don't like chicken! And yes, there are a lot of vegetables too- but you're gonna be looking a long time for a recipe book without chicken or vegetables. If we didn't want to eat chicken or vegetables, we'd go to McDonalds.

Editorial Review:

Cooking for two is as easy as individual pies with this new Betty Crocker cookbook that's tailor-made for smaller households and the needs of retirees, young couples, students, roommates, and single parents. More than 120 main-dish recipes that yield just two servings allow cooks to prepare exactly the right amount of food. 32 full-color photos. Index.

The Ultimate Food Bible 5 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I browse at cookbooks in bookstores as a hobby. I am the proud owner of some titles among the bestsellers' list of Amazon's food, cooking, and wine category but I have never encountered something like this before. I received an email from Amazon offering me to pre-order this item a few months ago. I am so glad that I had stuck it out since its release has been postponed again and again. When the book arrived, I didn't know what to expect besides its cover. I was amazed. This hefty book is the compendium of all delicious foods from all over the world. As I flipped through the pages, it felt like I was touring the world and experiencing the different exotic food each country has to offer. Majority of the foods are foreign sounding. However, there are some as basic as crab cakes, lemon chicken, short ribs, angel food cake, baked cheesecake, lentil soup, etc. The list is broken down into these food groups:
appetizers and small food
soups and salads
noodles and rice
fish and seafood
poultry and game
meats
beans, cheese, and vegetables
desserts
bread, cookies, and patries
beverages
I don't own the other book entitled "1001 Foods You Must Eat Before You Die", so I am curious if they contain more or less the same things. I am very satisfied with this one I have though and I intend to use it as a check list. I will try to taste as many of these foods as I can in my lifetime.

Now, a more critical perspective. I would like to have bigger and more number of photographs... but I suppose the book will be thicker than its 960 pages if that is the case.Hmmm! There are a few foods enlisted that don't have photographs to support them but overall, the book is fine for a visual person like me. It's hard to believe that this is the work of one single person. It's an encyclopedia for an adventurous foodie like me. Imagine how exciting it'll be to have some fantastic food for the first time in one's life and to be informed of its history. Each food has its story of how it came to be.

Editorial Review:

Every epicure seeks the very best-of-the-best foods the world has to offer, from extra-virgin olive oil and artisanal cheeses to rich, dark chocolate. 1,001 Foods To Die For is an essential list for food lovers, featuring luscious photographs and descriptions of must-eat foods from soup to nuts and from all over the world. This food bible includes everything from simple classics like foie gras and aged aceto balsamico to more exotic fare such as blowfish sushi or gratin Dauphinois. The book's contributors include more than eighty renowned culinary professionals--chefs, writers, critics, and historians--share their expert opinions on the delicious dishes and cuisines that must be experienced at least once in a lifetime. With lots of informational sidebars, and recipes for some of the featured dishes, 1,001 Foods To Die For is the ultimate culinary catalog for foodies everywhere.

Great Cook Book 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

I love to cook. Over the years I have collected a large number of cookbooks of all varieties. I am also of Italian decent so naturally I am somewhat biased with regards to Italian cookbooks. I owned a copy of this book for years and I used it so often that it literally fell apart so I purchased another copy. The recipes in this book are extremely easy to follow and Dom Deluise fills the book with humorous stories that any Italian can relate to. The meals I have cooked bring back memories of eating at my grandparents home and the taste is almost identical to the way my grandmother made them. I thought those meals would be lost forever when they died but thanks to Dom, I can re-create them in my own home and my children can carry on the tradition. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to cook and eat great southern Italian food.

A good Italian cookbook 5 out of 5 stars.

I have been looking for this cookbook for a long time. My Italian mother-in-law had made many of the recipes from this book and they were wonderful.
