I just love this cookbook. The recipes are simple and tasty. I have no desire to spend 4-5 hours in the kitchen for one meal! This cookbook has quickly and easily added another dimension to my cooking. Everyone who has sampled the dishes at my house are interested in the recipes! Also, there are beautiful pictures!

Editorial Review:

Moroccan food is one of the world's most fragrant and flavorful cuisines. This richly colorful volume unveils the wealth of Morocco's traditional recipes that have been handed down over generations. Moroccan Cooking is divided into seven sections. There are soups and starters, followed by many variations on the national dish of couscous. Main courses include tantalising fish and seafood recipes, meat and poultry, and vegetables and salads. There are also several delectable dessert dishes. Each of the 70 recipes is photographed step-by-step, and there are magnificent pictures of the finished dishes. With its comprehensive introduction to the history of this fascinating country and guide to all the classic ingredients, herbs and spices and cooking techniques, this book is an eye-opening guide to the secrets of Moroccan cooking.

Moroccan food? Not on your life! 3 out of 5 stars.

I was sorely disappointed in this book. The recipes have been mutilated to make it acceptable to the general masses. There are a couple of recipes that are actually correct and authentic but some of it is not even Moroccan, it's Algerian or Tunisian. Which I guess is a little okay because they are still part of Al Maghreb anyway; They just should have titled the book differently. I hate when people write a book and don't do the reasearch to make sure they are accurate or at least visit the place. I thought it strange to see the flat bread and pita in the book, we no have that in Morocco. We eat the french bread, Spanish rolls, or Moroccan rye bread. America is the first place I see this pita bread before ( i do like this bread, it is just not from Morocco). I did give 3 stars because the pictures are beautiful, the steps are great and still for less than $2, the recipes are quite good and tasty. What more could I ask I guess, it is only a $2 book. But if you are looking for truly authentic Moroccan food and recipes, I recommend Paula Wolfert's "Couscous and other good food from Morocco". Masha'Allah, wonderful book! She capture the food of my country perfectly and adapted them so the recipes can be easily made in America! I still plan to give this book as gift anyway.

Editorial Review:

The author provides a Spartan view about 'living in America'. The 'guide' contains the dos and don'ts of life, as well as head on commentary of religion, morals, politics, and money. He riles the press, professors, entertainment and the Ayatollahs. His often stark, humorous descriptions and advice are based on real-life experiences and encourage the reader to think positively and be proactive in managing one's lifestyle.

Editorial Review:

Three generations of a South African family come to life in this warm memoir of cozy kitchens, memorable places, quirky characters and soul food.

Zuretha Roos draws on the memories of the abundant farm kitchens of her Hex River Valley childhood, happy Stellenbosch student days and the, sometimes challenging, world of marriage and young motherhood in seventies’ Johannesburg to become an accomplished cook and magazine food editor. In amongst the pots and pans, busy city life is pleasantly interrupted by holidays in Hermanus, idyllic sojourns at Keurboomstrand and weekends on an isolated farm in the Waterberg. All is blissful, if not a little chaotic, until immense tragedy strikes and her once happy family has to come to terms with a brutal twist of fate...

Woven together with trusted family recipes, these tales bring to mind a time when history was shaped over strong cups of coffee and food came from the earth, the ocean and a mother’s heart.

Two leading food writers combine their talents to celebrate this is sparklingly original yet one of the world's least know cuisines from the Cape community of South Africa: a cuisine that combines the tastes and recipes of Malaysia, The Dutch East Indies and Europe with the herbs, spices and foods of the Cape. Probably the world's first fusion cuisine.

Hailed for their excellent values and superior quality, South African wines have found a strong market in North America. Take part in a glorious celebration of these wines, with their unique taste, their complex and delicious flavors influenced by the land's special soil, climate, and cultivation techniques. This beautiful, large-size volume, filled with luscious color photos, introduces you to the "star" varieties, as well as some "bit players": captures the perspective of winemakers and wine writers; provides advice on wine tasting and its descriptive terminology; and gives tips on "pouring for pleasure" and for storing this liquid treasure.
