Enjoyed all the nice new recipes and the wine selections. Pictures of the Brandywine Valley attractions were well done; any reader would probably want to make the sightseeing trip immediately.

Editorial Review:

Lancaster, PA's Central market is a historic site, but it is also a vitally active place offering food & friendship every Tuesday, Friday & Saturday of the year. Before daybreak, market standholders "set up" -- unpacking & displaying the meat, produce, breads & pies, cheeses, spices, flowers, plants, baskets & homemade crafts that draw the market's neighbors, as well as food lovers from far & near. When a second-generation standholder had the inspiration, the rest of the standholders began putting on paper the ingredients & procedures for preparing the foods they know so well. Recipes for more than 300 dishes are included, with colorful memories & photos of longtime standholders.

Editorial Review:

Here is an irresistible collection of recipes for every meal and every season, from the proprietor of Loaves and Fishes, the distinguished catering and prepared-food establishment in Sagaponak, Long Island, and The Bridgehampton Inn.

At The Bridgehampton Inn, Anna Pump pampers all of her guests as if each were a personal friend, which is, no doubt, why they return year after year. At Loaves and Fishes, each dish seems exactly as though it had been created in a regular home kitchen.

Now, with Country Weekend Entertaining, she shares her secrets so that home cooks, too, can soothe and pamper guests with simple, elegant, and delicious meals, from breakfast through dinner, all year long. In fact, instead of waiting for company, you can treat yourself and your family like guests and enjoy dishes such as Anna's Scrambled Eggs with Cream Cheese, Fresh Chives, and Popovers; her Grilled Veal Chops with Peach and Coriander Relish; and her Crumb-Topped Coffee Cake. Impressive enough for any formal event, every dish in this treasure trove of original recipes is nevertheless simple enough to prepare at whim, without waiting for a special occasion.

Arranged by season and illustrated with beautifully evocative color photographs, the more than 175 recipes in this book are certain to become the favorites of discerning home cooks everywhere.

Don't Waste Your Money 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This publisher printed many outstanding bread and breakfast cookbooks by Melissa Craven and Carol Faino. Each author meticulously tested every recipe, and carefully added her own ideas, hints, and observations. In contrast, this loser doesn't cite an author, and blindly prints recipes WITHOUT ANY comments. They apparently were never tested! You can find awesome bread and breakfast recipes online, or in many existing cookbooks. Don't waste your money on this loser.

Editorial Review:

The Bed and Breakfast cookbook series is a state-by state cookbook series that features recipes from each state's Bed & Breakfasts, Country Inns, and Guest Ranches. Each book features 150-200 delicious recipes for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, appetizers, deserts, and baked goods from the entertaining experts at leading B&B's in each state. Thers beautiful hardcover books have a hidden wire-o binding so the book stays open for ease-of-use. Each book also serves as a travel guide to a state's B&B's, offering interesting anecdotes about each inn or the area in which it is located, contact information, number of rooms, and pet and child policies.

Editorial Review:

Centre County offers a marvellous vantage point from which to view Pennsylvania’s indigenous cuisine. Centrally located, it has become an island of regional specialties that make use of natural abundance in time-honored ways.

The draw of Penn State University brings the sons and daughters of a vast number of the Commonwealth’s citizenry into the area, along with their food preferences. International students create a microcosm of diversity that is unmatched by any other similar-size geographic region in the state. A sophistication spurred by foreign travel, along with the entertaining demands of the University and local corporations, makes the cuisine of Central Pennsylvania well worth serious study and appreciation.

In Seasons of Central Pennsylvania, Anne Quinn Corr demonstrates how the people of the Keystone State take a singular and active delight in their environment and its natural gifts. Each section focuses on a season, beginning with fall, as leaves turn color and tailgating begins. More than thirty original and adapted recipes are featured in each section, as well as photos and vignettes on area cooks, and stories about local events and activities that celebrate each season. The recipes include a wide variety of Central Pennsylvania ingredients, but also demonstrate the region’s cultural diversity with appetizing international recipes.

Many of the recipes and photographs included in Seasons of Central Pennsylvania were first published in food features by the author in the Centre Daily Times, the newspaper of Central Pennsylvania.

Published in association with the Centre Daily Times, State College, Pennsylvania
