I am a big fan of Dr. Ornish and his vegetarian approach to treating and preventing heart disease. When I am trying a new recipe I surround it with simple additions so I can concentrate on the new fare, especially if it includes alot of ingredients. Most of the meal plans in this book are complicated, requiring alot of ingredients for each new item on the menu for that meal. I could not successfully use this book as written, except to try one item at a time.

I am so thrilled with this book. Everything I've made is wonderful...coffee cake, black bean brownies (it's true!), chocolate mousse cake...I think the chocolate custard is the best dessert I've ever had. Update: I just made the Lemon Cheesecake Bars and they are out of this world. Buy this book!

There's no substiute for sugar but this comes close. 4 out of 5 stars.

The Chinese recipes were very good but to be honest I usually don't add sugar to my Chinese. The crepes were very good but again I normally don't add sugar to mine. There were recipes that are advertised as "you'll never taste the difference" well, you do taste the difference but if you cannot have sugar this is a good substitute. For example the brownies which are made with black beans and splenda are great if you really need to give up sugar. But of course as you can imagine, they are not the greatest brownies you've ever had but are good if you have a craving for chocolate and are forbidden sugar. I think for dieters try portion control with better food. If you are diabetic it's a must have if your system can't have the real thing.

I am a working mom and eating well is very hard to do when you have to please the palates of a trucker husband and an 18 month old too. I have made about 50% of the recipes in the book since I have bought it and I have not found one we didnt like yet. They are fast and not short on flavor.

I have a million cookbooks, and am a food network addict. This is by far the best cookbook. It has pics to go with every recipe as well. There aren't a huge amount of recipes, but what they have is all delicious. I don't think theyre extremely FAST to make though. Some still have a lot of prep work. But that's fine for me.... I make some of these recipes when I have company and it's always a huge hit! I definitely think everyone should own this cookbook!

I have made 4-5 recipies from this book and each has turned out great. They are suprisingly easy and do not taste bland, like so many other light recipies I have enountered. Be sure to try the artichoke, lemon and goat cheese stuffed chicken and the garlic fries. The wasabi tuna and shiitake port mushroom steaks were also good. Probably one of the best cookbooks I have!

I was skeptical about the recipes in a "light" cookbook, but I've tried a couple of the recipes so far, and they've been FABULOUS! I made the "Italian Meatloaf" recipe for dinner last night, and it was better than the full-fat version I usually make.

I use a lot of the cooking light recipes online, but it got annoying always looking for the best rated ones. This book compiles it all into one and I love all the recipes!! Definately a good book to have!
