The many wonderful recipes and decorating ideas in this book have become tradition in our home over the past few years. My children (and even their friends) never let me forget 'Dinner in a Pumpkin'. I have also given this book as a gift several times to my children's teachers. This is a "must have" for those of you like me who love the times between Halloween and Christmas.

O.K. y'all, this book is filled with all sorts of cozy country holiday ideas. It is a must for anyone who loves the holidays, buy it now and plan for the best holiday season ever!!! Great ideas from harvest to Christmas!!

I purchased all four Mug'em books. They all have some really neat ideas, but be warned that what you give away does not include all the necessary ingredients. With some of them the recipient only needs to add simple things like water and other common household ingredients. Some require the addition of small amounts of things most people don't normally keep in their house and probably wouldn't purchase just for the small quantity needed. Other items require the recipient to add so many things that you might as well have not given the gift to begin with.

I suggest you do a search online for free postings of similar gifts to give in a mug, or purchase the Gifts in a Jar books.

Cozy Country Christmas is the latest in a long line of Gooseberry Patch cookbooks. As a collector, I've come to appreciate the friendly tone of these cookbooks, and the fun (and easy to make) recipes. Cozy Country Christmas was delightful... I really got in the mood for the holidays after reading this one.

My only concern/minor dislike was that there were 48 pages of memories in the first section, and while I enjoyed reading them, I don't think they have much re-read value.

Overall, an excellent book by the fun folks at Gooseberry Patch. When will the next one be out?

"The Complete Idiot's Guide to Substitutions" enables me to reproduce great recipes any time, day or night. If I lack something in a recipe I'm following, I can just look up the ingredient and its best substitutions and then keep on cooking. No more last minute runs to the grocery. Really diminished worry about "will it still taste good?"

I plan on giving lots of these books as Christmas presents this year.

If you like to entertain, this book has a large
selection of dishes for any party. I tried several
of the recipes, and love the results. One of the
so many Williams-Sonoma cookboooks in my collection.

I bought this wonderful cookbook nearly 15 years ago on the recommendation of a friend. I collect cookbooks and this one is the first one I grab when planning a party or celebration. Menus for everything from a New Year's Soup Bowl party to weddings, anniversary parties, barbecues, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Graduation, and wonderful holiday dinners and buffets are all filled with scrumptious and fail-safe recipes. Each recipe gives great instructions on how far in advance it can be prepared, making entertaining a snap. I've used this book so many times that it has become tattered and dog eared. All of Sorosky's books are excellent. Please, Marlene, how about an update of this fabulous classic!

I do a lot of entertaining throughout the year. Until I read Ms. Sorosky's book, I'd considered myself resaonably good as a cook. This book let me soar! From it I've developed annual menus for various holidays, and it's given me great dishes for special occasions -- the bridal shower, etc.. It's well-written, beautifully illustrated, and the directions, being thorough and straightforward (with explicit help for the less experienced cook), are so easy to follow. A classic in this field.

Delicious recipes that have become a staple of our holiday 5 out of 5 stars.

I got this cookbook just before I got married, when I hosted my first Thanksgiving. I've used it for several years now, and many of the recipes in it - including the gingered sweet pototato pudding, the glazed parsnips and carrots, and the pumpkin cheesecake - have become staples of my family's celebration. I haven't tried a single recipe in this book that wasn't utterly delicious. It offers creative twists on traditional holiday fare, so it satisfies both the gourmets and the traditional holiday eaters. It also includes several recipes for "extras" (such as a yummy and very easy recipe for minted cranberry sauce). While some of the recipes take a little extra effort over your traditional mashed potatoes and stuffing, they are very well worth it. Even my husband, whose palette is hardly experimental, loves *everything* I've made from this book. I've now given it as a gift to several of my friends, all of whom have found new recipes to treasure in it!
