Not necessarily better together 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 9 people found this review helpful.

A check on google.com reaches bibliocook.com, which indicates that the recipes in Paradiso Year: Autumn and Winter are selected from Paradiso Seasons. There is also a Spring and Summer version, also selected from Paradiso Seasons. The new covers are lovely, but if the recipes are the same, you probably won't want to buy Paradiso Year and Paradiso Seasons together. If the Paradiso books appeal to you, you might also like the cookbook from Cafe Flora, which looks wonderful, or Spice : Flavors of the Eastern Mediterranean, which is not vegetarian but has many inspirational vegetarian recipes.

More than just a cookbook 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Travel, cooking, and winter life in Switzerland. Excellent photography and background information. The book includes Christmas in Zürich. Also covered is the burning of the Böögg snowman during the Sechseläuten festival which symbolizes the burning of winter. The book covers everything from cheese to chocolate and includes healthy eating. I really liked the book because it had more than recipes. The photos and travelogue were very interesting. The book is both a coffee table book and a cook book.

Editorial Review:

Take a culinary journey from the peaks of St. Moritz down to the glittering streets of Zürich—home to some of the most delicious food in all of Europe—in this attractive cookbook of Alpine cuisine. Be tempted by Cloud Soufflé, Pappardelle with Duck Ragù, melt-in-your-mouth Spätzle, Rösti, and Creamy Zabaione; sip warming Glühwein and roast chestnuts over the open fire and be transported to the enchanting heart of continental Europe during winter. Showcasing the culture, lifestyle, and food of this remarkably diverse region, this beautifully illustrated book is a stunning depiction of the unique cuisine and breathtaking beauty of the Alps.

Mouthwatering recipes in a beautifully compiled cookbook 5 out of 5 stars.

I recieved this cookbook as a gift for Christmas and I know already that it's going to be one of my favourites. All of the recipes sound delicious and most use ingredients that you're likely to have on hand. The Spanish Shrimp with Red Peppers and Garlic sauce was superb as well as fast and easy to make. We're going to try at one recipe a week from this gem of a book!

Editorial Review:

It's official: shrimp is our favorite seafood! (Well, except for canned tuna, but we won't go into that.) Rick Rodgers offers shrimp lovers more than 100 fabulous ways to simmer, sauté, barbecue, or deep-fry shrimp, including casseroles, soups, salads, risottos, pasta sauces, and more. Trying to think of a quick family supper? Friends coming over for a meal on short notice? Need a cocktail party spread that will have them licking the bowl? Simply Shrimp lays a mouthwatering array of simple, fast, and delicious cooking possibilities at the shrimp fancier's fingertips.

A book to keep 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 17 people found this review helpful.

I thought to give this book to a friend, but then I read it and decided that the creative ideas were so good and unusual, and the practical tips were so helpful that I would keep it myself, and give away the finished products she describes rather than the book itself. I have just made the hazelnut shortbread, and altho' I knew the tip about rubbing toasted hazelnuts in a cloth to remove the brown skin, she suggested a damp terry towel, and the dampness is the key! It was so much easier than with the dry towel I used before.
If you can bear to give it away, it would make a lovely present.

Editorial Review:

Aimed at those who would like to share their culinary creations as gifts, but just need a bit of a nudge and a helping hand to do so, Sally Pasley Vargas's recipes and detailed wrapping instructions are a useful guide for a beginning giver of edible gifts. Want to know how to make a jam and then wrap it exquisitely? Looking for the perfect cookie recipe and how to present it to your friends and family?

What a great find - my boyfriend gave it to me last winter. The recipies might sound or read strange but be adventurous and TRY THEM. They are imaginitive and oh so tasty. I have tried the veg. stew, roasted winter veg, the baked millet, mushrooms and chestnut in red wine, the jerusalem artichoke, cooked greens etc. etc.

Am I glad I bought this smoothie book! 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

This is one of the best smoothie books I have seen. I use the recipes so often, the pages are getting worn. I'm the type of person who gets bored very easily and the recipes in this book have been a great way to add some novelty to my routine, which usually includes at least one smoothie each day. The smoothie recipes vary from very simple to a little exotic, and I can choose either type depending on my mood. The recipes are all very clearly written, and as an added bonus there's even some humor inserted in most of the descriptions. Between reading the recipes and then enjoying the final product, it really makes my day.

Editorial Review:

For the great English food writer Elizabeth David, summer fare means neither tepid nor timid. Her stress is always on fresh, seasonal food-- recipes that can be quickly prepared and slowly savored, from Gnocchi alla Genovese ("simply an excuse for eating pesto") to La Poule au Pot to Gooseberry Fool. Divided into such sections as Soup, Poultry and Game, Vegetables, and Dessert, her 1955 classic includes an overview of herbs as well as chapters on impromptu cooking for holidays and picnics. Chockablock with both invaluable instructions and tart rejoinders to the pallid and the overblown, Summer Cooking is a witty, precise companion for feasting in the warmer months.
