I bought this week 2 weeks after my laparoscopy, on the same day I had my follow up appt with my gyno, who told me I had endometriosis. My gyno could not get me out of her office quick enough, and couldnt answer any of my questions like 'does it come back? how do i stop it coming back? how do i manage the symptoms? what are my options?' The only thing she could tell me is that it was pretty certain i would be seeing her on a yearly basis for regular laps. Needless to say, i am finding a new gyno, but I still needed answers.
Dian's book answered all of my questions and more. The detailed information in the book on the body, the nervous system, the digestive system, and how everything was affected by endo, made perfect sense alongside the symptoms i have been suffering without explanation or end in sight. I had already been trying to eat well, but her strict dietary suggestions were what i needed to start and commit to a whole new way of eating.
4 weeks later, ive lost 5 kilos, my pelvic pain is gone, my digestive problems are easing, and ive just had my first period since the lap, which i was warned would be longer, painful, heavier than normal - nothing! No pms symptoms, no cravings, nothing! i guess this is what normal feels like! its fantastic. I know ive got a ways to go, but for the first time in years, i have answers and soolutions, and i am actually getting better and going forward, not backward. its a nice feeling.

This is the perfect cook book for anyone who has suffered from food allergies. The recipes are very tasty and easy enough to make at home. I would strongly recommend this book to those who don't want to give up flavor and good tasting food just because they need to accomodate an allergen-free diet. Kudos to Ms. Fergus for a wonderful and much needed alternative cook book!

Several recipes in this book have become staples in my family. They are well thought out and easy to prepare. Every recipe I've tried was absolutely savory! We are not vegetarians, but find that we don't miss meat when we dig into this book. I've just become pregnant and have found many recipes that will accomodate my new dietary requirements. Whether your looking for whole meals or for side-dishes you'll find recipes that meet your needs and that you and your family will love.

the recipes are ultra easy to prepare...sounds expensive and
very gourmet...but most ingredients in the book are simple,staples that most of us have in our kitchen 24/7 anyways...very delicious and you can season and spice them up
to your taste...i am on a diet and the recipes in this book
just make all the easier to stay excited about staying on it with
out the guilt...some of the recipes you can get you kids to eat..
simple format...easy to follow...plus the beginning of the book
has interesting and informative facts about vegetarian facts and
healthy tips...goody gooody!!!!!

This book is absolutely wonderful. Every recipe that I have made from it has been superior (particularly the quick bread and dessert recipes). I recommend this book highly to everyone.

This is a cookbook that I ended up purchasing because my mother already had a copy and made some very good dishes from it. So, I had to get a copy and I wasn't disappointed!

Unless you are someone who has to have meat with every meal or hates vegetables, you will enjoy this cookbook. I really don't think it's for vegetarians only. Many of the recipes would compliment a main dish meat very well and others make fabulous meatless-entrees. I have made the "Baked Ziti" and it bakes up deliciously with a crust of cheese on top! I've also tried the "Eggplant Sauteed with Tomatoes, Capers and Garlic" and it was wonderful! So far I haven't made a recipe that disappointed.

The book contains over 500 pages of recipes from a variety of cuisines (Italian, French, Chinese, Indian, etc). There are no photos, but that didn't really bother me. I purchased it because I wanted to eat more veggies and cook more healthfully, and the book has served that purpose. Also, the recipes are straight-forward to prepare. Under each recipe title are small symbols that denote which type of "vegetarian" the recipe would be appropriate for (Lacto-Ovo, Lacto, Ovo, Vegan). At the end of most recipes are ideas for variations to provide more options.

Overall, I've been very pleased with this book. (And I think it shows because apparently I've crinkled the pages a bit from using the book in my kitchen!) I would recommend it to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
