LOVE LOVE LOVE IT 5 out of 5 stars.

It might be titled "easy" but you better be up for some challenges! This will hone your detective skills AND YOUR MEMORY for sure. Fun stuff!

Hard enough for a challenge, easy enough to finish quickly 5 out of 5 stars.

Mom is 89 and needed a challenge to keep her brain active, and this level of crosswords works well for her. They're not so hard to discourage her, nor so easy to bore her. I'd recommend this for book for both aged and the young puzzlers. Additonally, the big format makes it easy to read and to write in.

EASY IT ISN'T 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

THIS BOOK HAS A LOT GOING FOR IT BUT EASY ISN'T ONE OF THEM. I AM A MIDDLE-AGED ENGLISH TEACHER AND I FIND THE PUZZLES DIFFICULT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE ANSWERS CLOSE AT HAND. THESE ARE NOT PUZZLES THAT THE AVERAGE ENGLISH SPEAKER CAN FIGURE OUT AND SOLVE. MAYBE AS I WORK MORE OF THE PUZZLES, THEY WILL BECOME EASIER. I CERTAINLY HOPE SO. ALSO, THE PUZZLES DO NOT HAVE TITLES. A REVIEWER MENTIONED THAT AND I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS IMPORTANT BUT IT TURNS OUT TO BE VERY IMPORTANT. OFTEN TIMES THE TITLE GIVES A CLUE AS TO WHAT THE PUZZLE IS ABOUT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN OF WILL SHORTZ SUDOKU BOOKS AND THOUGHT I WOULD BE EQUALLY AS FOND OF HIS CROSSWORD PUZZLE BOOKS BUT I AM NOT. I AM HOPING THAT, IN TIME, WHEN I COME TO UNDERSTAND THE PATTERN OF THE PUZZLES, I WILL BE ABLE TO SOLVE THEM MORE EASILY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BOOK BUT NOT FOR BEGINNERS.

Great Brain teasers 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

When you complete one of these crosswords (without using a dictionary or cheating!) you really feel like you have accomplished something. I love it when I complete a puzzle that I didn't even start filling in until about clue #20! You can't go wrong with Will Shortz.

Tough puzzles indeed, but unfortunately, without themes. 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

A selection of Crossword puzzles from the Friday/Saturday N.Y. Times Newspaper.

These are, as the title adequately suggests, hard crossword puzzles. They are puzzles that will give you a thorough cerebral workout; they require lots of thought and the occasional use of a crossword puzzle book for obscure names, references etc. However, they were do-able with some determination and perseverance.

However the main questions is...were they fun? In a word...NO! Well, at least not as much as I'd hoped. Why? Let me explain.

The puzzles in this book are set up on your basic 15x15 grid, but, unfortunately, without any particular theme connected to them. In fact, it was this volume of puzzles made me realize that my definition of a really entertaining crossword puzzle MUST have a 'theme' associated with it; that is, a set of somewhat related definitions that usually have answers involving some deceptive phrases or some tricky word-plays. These type of puzzles (with a theme) are only found in the weekend edition of the N.Y. Times puzzle.

Conclusion:
These are, tough crossword puzzles, as the title correctly stated.
However, I love my crossword puzzles with a devious theme and there are none in this volume. But, I have no one to blame but myself as I should have read the title of this soft-covered book more carefully. Next time I'll I look a little closer at the title and the material within.

Different and interesting 4 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I enjoy the scrambled actors names, really makes my Brain work. I enjoy crosswords Puzzels. I like this because it is different and easy because of spiral bound. Easy to keep your spot when you have to stop, and go back later. Big enough to read. I love Crosswords that are about movies and tv shows.

Too easy for any serious crossword puzzler 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

This is a good crossword puzzle book for anyone who isn't looking for really challenging puzzles. The answers are really obvious for anyone who has watched tv on a regular basis for the last 20-30 years. The puzzles are easy to read and the spiral binding is very nice.

Editorial Review:

If you know your celebrities, you'll sweep through every crossword puzzle, plus many other games. The wizards at Puzzability, whose work appears in The New York Times and In Touch magazine, dare you to recall TV and movie titles and stars, singers and songs from rock, rap, and country, and bestselling authors and their characters. Besides crosswords, you wander into all sorts of other word play. Change one letter in a word pair to find a familiar name (Top Hawks = Tom Hanks). Change two rhyming words to find a TV show (Steer Tractor = Fear Factor; Chill Tanned Face = Will and Grace).

CAPITALS are correct 4 out of 5 stars.
25 of 27 people found this review helpful.

The reviewer below is barking up the wrong tree. Classical Latin was written in all-caps and without accents or macrons. Even when later Latin came to be written in both upper and lower cases, there were no accents or macrons. Perhaps a little harder for beginners, but that's what textbooks are for (also beware that V will represent both u and v, much as in the Oxford Latin dictionary, because the Romans didn't have two separate letters. Hence why v is pronounced like w or u.) This isn't Greek, and by and large accents don't matter. They're completely regular, in any case, and similar to English - with a little practice you'll put them in the right place naturally. If all caps are annoying, at least they'll teach you to read Latin without the artificial aids of modern editors, and that's a valuable skill to have.

Editorial Review:

A collection of crossword puzzles to practice and expand basic Latin vocabulary. The puzzles are organised in increasing order of difficulty and the answers are to be selected from a list provided at the foot of each one.

I received this crossword dictionary last week & I am very disappointed in this book. It doesn't have all the words and it did not help my crossword puzzles at all. The letter are very large which helps my eyes.

Crossword Puzzle Dictionary 5 out of 5 stars.

This was for a gift for my mother. She is reaching 90 and her sight is failing but she loves to do crossword puzzles. The last dictionary she had was too small and falling apart. The new one is bigger, easier to handle and better print. She loves it. We also use it alot when playing scrabble, another of her favorite activities. When I ordered it, it came quicker than expected and in perfect shape. I have ordered from Amazon befor and will again. Thank you.

Great! Spiral-bound, easy to use. 5 out of 5 stars.

The crosswords are really fun! The book is lightweight and easy to lay in your lap and fill in the puzzles. The puzzles are quite large so there's enough room to fill in the letters just fine. Great layout!

Not so easy for me 1 out of 5 stars.

I must not be the crossword type. Even with 2 masters degrees, I found these crosswords to be too difficult.

A Bit Elementary, My Dear Will 4 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

These puzzles are lots of fun, but they aren't especially challenging. However, that's not to discourage anyone from buying the book. I loved doing it, and I came back to buy a copy for someone else. But, if you're really hard-core--Saturday's puzzle in ink, that sort of thing--you might want to look elsewhere.

Editorial Review:
