Editorial Review:

Some players have won millions playing craps!

From 1978 through 1995, two craps players won millions from the casinos using a technique known as "rhythmic rolling," which is now called dice control or precision shooting. These two winners were the legendary Captain and his partner, "the Arm," a woman that many consider the greatest dice controller who ever lived.

Now their technique is available for you to learn! If you want to develop the Golden Touch, this is the book you must read.

Join in the greatest dream casino players can have – beating the casino at its own game! You can become the casinos worst nightmare by becoming a Golden Touch dice controller – just like the Captain and "the Arm." And just like Frank Scoblete, Dominator and the Golden Touch dice control crew.

There’s only one way to beat the game of craps in the long run – it’s called dice control. No betting systems, no hedging systems, no on/off systems, no "go with the flow" systems," and no prayers can make this negative expectation game a positive long-run experience for the typical craps player.

The traditional craps player is a loser, no matter what style of betting he pursues because the game is structured to mathematically beat all betting and hedging systems. The casinos know that fact, even if some players and some so-called experts don’t know it, and the casinos happily go to the bank with their huge winnings from the players.

But Golden Touch Craps dice control can change the nature of the game to favor you, the player! By controlling the outcomes of your roll, you can change the statistics of the game to turn the tables on the casinos. It takes practice but it can be done.

In words and pictures, dice control experts Frank Scoblete and Dominator will show you what it takes to develop a Golden Touch controlled dice throw at craps.

But that’s not all. You’ll get to read what the Golden Touch Craps dice control instructors have to say about all aspects of getting an advantage at the game. The Golden Touch Craps dice control instructors are the greatest dice controllers in the world. Join them and learn how to make craps a winnable game for you.

In addition, the world’s greatest craps player, and the father of the modern dice control movement, the Captain, who started using dice control in 1978, will give you his insights as well. If you have any interest in beating the casinos at their own game, this is the book you must read.

Over 90 PHOTOGRAPHS and great instruction will show you everything you need to know to make craps a positive game for you!

Frank Scoblete, gaming’s #1 best-selling author, and Dominator, the world’s greatest dice controller, the Golden Touch Craps dice control instructors and the one-and-only Captain will show you the only method that can beat the game of craps. You’ll learn:

• The Physical Elements of Dice Control: the stance, the scan, the dice sets, the grab, the grip, the pickup, the throw, the backspin, and the bounce • Where and how to land the dice • How to hit the back wall properly • The proper arc for the dice on different types of tables • The proper betting to exploit your edge over the casinos • The proper betting on random rollers • How to use the Captain’s 5-Count • The proper bet spreading techniques • How to get more comps for less risk • How to get a monetary edge over the casinos – even against random shooters! • How to employ camouflage to cover your dice control skills • The proper bankroll needed to play at various betting levels • The P.O.W.E.R. Plan for educated risk takers • How to fix the most common problems that can hurt your shooting • How to form winning dice control teams

Read the legendary Captain’s advice and the advice of the Golden Touch Craps instructors: Jerry "Stickman," Howard "Rock ‘n Roller," Billy the Kid, Mr. Finesse, Street Dog, Bill Burton, Wordslayer, No Field Five, Pit Boss, Chip, Tenor and Satch, an original member of the Captain’s Crew.

If you want to win at craps, this is a must-read book! Learn dice control and get the edge over the game of craps.

Frank Scoblete and Dominator have been featured on television shows on the Travel Channel, the History Channel, A&E, the Discovery Channel, CNN, and TBS. You can read about their craps records at World Records on the Golden Touch Craps web site.

Editorial Review:

Sports betting can be attacked intelligently. Smart sports bettors do not gamble the same way as tourists play roulette or retirees play the slot machines. Instead, smart sports bettors are making bets that they have thought through carefully with supporting logic and/or research. The purpose of this book is to give you tools to succeed at sports betting, to show you how to evaluate, compare and view sports betting from an analytical perspective, not from a gambling perspective.

This book by King Yao, author of the widely-acclaimed Weighing the Odds in Hold 'em Poker, should be used as a guideline to sports betting rather than a blueprint. The sports betting market changes and adapts quickly. The underlying principles shown in this book should help you adapt and continue to make good bets even when the market changes.

This book is for you if you want to think analytically about sports betting. It is for you if you do not want to be spoon-fed supposed winners, but want to get some ideas to improve your game. You battle bookmakers and line makers constantly; betting sports is a game of maneuvers and adjustments. You can use as many weapons as possible in this continuous fight. This book should help in that regard.

Editorial Review:

“For anybody who loves horses, and for all of those who are thrilled by horse racing and the behind-the-scenes drama of the track, The Horse That God Built is must reading."
--Michael Korda, author of Horse People

Most of us know the legend of Secretariat, the tall, handsome chestnut racehorse whose string of honors runs long and rich: the only two-year-old ever to win Horse of the Year, in 1972; winner in 1973 of the Triple Crown, his times in all three races still unsurpassed; featured on the cover of Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated; the only horse listed on ESPN’s top fifty athletes of the twentieth century (ahead of Mickey Mantle). His final race at Toronto’s Woodbine Racetrack is a touchstone memory for horse lovers everywhere. Yet while Secretariat will be remembered forever, one man, Eddie “Shorty” Sweat, who was pivotal to the great horse’s success, has been all but forgotten---until now.

In The Horse God Built, bestselling equestrian writer Lawrence Scanlan has written a tribute to an exceptional man that is also a backroads journey to a corner of the racing world rarely visited. As a young black man growing up in South Carolina, Eddie Sweat struggled at several occupations before settling on the job he was born for---groom to North America’s finest racehorses. As Secretariat’s groom, loyal friend, and protector, Eddie understood the horse far better than anyone else. A wildly generous man who could read a horse with his eyes, he shared in little of the financial success or glamour of Secretariat’s wins on the track, but won the heart of Big Red with his soft words and relentless devotion.
In Scanlan’s rich narrative, we get a groom’s-eye view of the racing world and the vantage of a man who spent every possible moment with the horse he loved, yet who often basked in the horse’s glory from the sidelines. More than anything else, The Horse God Built is a moving portrait of the powerful bond between human and horse.

Praise for The Horse God Built:

“Scanlan's scope is encyclopedic…”

--Publishers Weekly

"The author's tribute is heartfelt..."

--Kirkus

"...detailed in all its equine awesomeness."

--Maxim

"...will satisfy those who can't get enough of Secretariat."
--The New York Times

“…an informative read that hardboots and novices alike can enjoy.”
--The Lexington Herald Leader (Kentucky)

"Eddie Sweat's story represents the last great untold chapter in the Secretariat saga. Larry Scanlan has honoured both groom and horse by giving it to us at last.
--John Jeremiah Sullivan, author of Blood Horses: Notes of a Sportswriter's Son

"This well-researched book is a must for readers who are fans of the horse, but if you just want a good read, you're going to love this animal/human interest story."
--Monty Roberts, author of The Man Who Listens to Horses

AN UNDERGROUND POKER CLASSIC 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I call this book an 'underground' poker classic because it is deeply underappreciated in the poker world. I write a monthly column for one of the largest poker magazine, and in my opinion, it is the single best book for explaining winning tournament strategy...AGGRESSION. The reason aggression is the winning strategy is that a hold'em players greatest weapon at any time is Folding Equity. Meaning your ability to control your raises, and the probability your opponent will lay down their hand. The main problem I see is that the aggressive style does not fit everyone's personality, but if you want a crash course on tournament aggression, this is the book for you.

Editorial Review:

This is the first book to provide winning strategies for the small buy-in ($100 or less) no-limit hold'em tournaments that have exploded in poker rooms all over the country-and on the Internet. The strategies for small buy-in no-limit hold'em tournaments are similar to the big-money games, but the important factors-hand value, position, aggression and others, and speed of play-cause a radical change of strategy. Snyder recounts his own experience with these methods at a win rate of almost 300% and gives readers specific strategies for winning the big money available in prizes at the hundreds of small buy-in no-limit hold'em tournaments taking place weekly around the country and on the Internet.

Whoa, hold on a second. 1 out of 5 stars.
9 of 25 people found this review helpful.

This system will not work.

Let's assume your playing in a 6-deck game. This system has you start your running count at -20, with -4 or higher as the "key" (The point at which you bet high). Using the KO method, after all of the decks are counted through the count will be +4. Does anyone else see the flaw here? Let's say you have a count of -3. This system tells you to bet high (Even suggesting 10 betting units!). But think about it, if a deck completely counted through will end up at +4, then there's a better chance that you'll be drawing low cards, meaning the dealer actually has the advantage. Put simply, if you use this system YOU WILL BE BETTING HIGH WHEN THE DEALER HAS THE ADVANTAGE. If I'm wrong then correct me, please. But I believe this is a very faulty system. If you win anything using it, count it off as luck. Eventually it will ruin you.

This book explains other counting systems as being near impossible for the average person to learn; even explaining how difficult the Hi-Lo system is (Bull). The Hi-Lo system is still the easiest effective counting system (Explained well in Wong's "Professional Blackjack") with the Omega II being one of the most powerful (Beautifully explained in "Blackjack for Blood" by Bryce Carlson). I highly recommend either one of those two systems.

There is a note in this book about the notion of blackjack books being put out by casinos to sort of sabotage counters with false tips. I believe this may very possibly be one of those books. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Editorial Review:

Revolutionary card-counting system for blackjack. All you need to know is how to add and subtract by one. Expanded second edition is easier to understand, learn, and use.

Excellent encyclopedia, just overwhelming 4 out of 5 stars.
87 of 89 people found this review helpful.

If you love card games, but just about played every game you know to death and need something new, this is a great book. This must have every card game with every variation of it ever concieved. It gives good explanation of each game, along with how they are played in different parts of the world. The problem with the book, however, is the same. It has every rule to every game ever written. It is not a good book for reading, but a great one to have on the side in case you are ever really bored, or can't decide on all the rules of a game. It is great for anybody with that old game they just can't quite remember all the rules to. Problem solution: if you find a game you like, have a hilighter pen readibly available for the table of contents. it is easy to loose track of what may have been a great new card game. Recommended only for real big card game buffs.

Editorial Review:

"According to Hoyle" is the card-table synonym for Correct --a definitive guide to the correct playing of all known card games, with full descriptions and explanations of rules and techniques for each game and its variations.

B & W photographs throughout.

Fantastic 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book was just that, No-Nonsense. The author presented the game of craps in a way that a beginner can easily learn. He then gave his own strategy of playing craps that is also easy to learn along with other tips about the game and gambling in general. The author does not set out to claim he will make you rich at gambling. He, instead, presented a way to have fun a craps while also having the chance to come out a winner during some sessions of play. The book is relatively short, but the information is superb for anyone that is new to the game, or even for the hardened player who may be looking at another way to approach the game.

Editorial Review:

Discover for yourself why dice control, table charting, point counting and other useless carnival barking schemes should be relegated to the circular file. Give yourself a reasonable chance of winning at the table. Richard Orlyn, the fresh new voice in the game, exposes the myths and debunks the superstitions propounded by the rank-and-file authors in this genre. No nonsense, no fictional anecdotes, just the simple but profound lessons of two-dice probability theory presented for the novice and seasoned player alike. This quick read includes distinctive betting and money management skills along with the author's trademarked TABLE TIME PLUS strategy for prevailing at the table. Unique in its approach; uncompromising in its integrity; complete with illustrative material and glossary.

Editorial Review:

A new superstar appeared on the American sports landscape in the spring of 2006: Barbaro, a three-year-old racehorse, won the Kentucky Derby by six and a half lengths, the largest margin of victory in sixty years. Barbaro's impressive performance immediately stirred talk of a possible Triple Crown. But in the opening yards of the Preakness Stakes two weeks later, the horse suffered a catastrophic leg injury that ended his undefeated career and left him fighting for his life.

Edgar Prado, a native of Peru and one of the world's top jockeys, rode Barbaro to glory and then stood beside him for months as the horse valiantly struggled to survive and millions of fans held their breath. Having ridden in more than twenty-five thousand races over the previous two decades, Prado thought he had been around too long to fall for any one horse, but Barbaro—intelligent, charismatic, and resourceful in sickness as well as in health—stole his heart.

In My Guy Barbaro, Prado recounts his own story, a tale of grit and dreams that moves from his impoverished childhood in Lima, Peru, to the winner's circles of the greatest racetracks in the world, and memorably chronicles his emotional time with Barbaro before, during, and after the horse's breakdown. Their bond was special and immeasurable. With Prado still reeling from a wrenching personal loss, Barbaro lifted his spirits by giving him “the ride of a lifetime” in the Derby. When the tables turned and the horse needed support two weeks later, Prado was there, going out of his way to make a succession of visits to the New Bolton Center, the animal hospital in Pennsylvania where Barbaro underwent more than two dozen surgeries and was ultimately put down.

Barbaro made worldwide headlines for eight months, and now Prado's poignant, clear-eyed narrative takes us where no reader has gone before—onto Barbaro's back in the heat of a race and into the intensive care suite where Barbaro's life-and-death drama played itself out. My Guy Barbaro is a heartwarming, unforgettable story of a man and his love for a beautiful animal and an irreplaceable teammate.

The Best Book on Slots 5 out of 5 stars.
22 of 22 people found this review helpful.

I have read just about every book on slots but I resisted buying this one because I thought the information would be old and stale. Now having read it I have to agree with other reviewers that just about all slot books "borrow" heavily from Scoblete's work and are nowhere near as comprehensive. The book is a masterpiece of research and it is well written and extremely fun to read. I recommend this as the first and only slot stop you'll need before you try your hand at the one-armed bandits.

Best Slots Book I've Read--Needs an Update 4 out of 5 stars.
13 of 14 people found this review helpful.

I am not crazy about playing slots--but to get free room at the Venetian (LV) I need to put in hours each day, each visit. The Scoblete book is the most informative overall I've read so far on a subject where random chance is the rule. The chapter about which slots are loose was probably good advice--but people don't hear coins falling into the hopper any more--coins have been replaced with paper receipts. Paper payoffs also skew the advice in that excellent chapter on money management. These days most people deposit bills, not coins, into the slot machine and there is no bucket of coins to use or to reserve. Mr. Scoblete needs to revise this book. If he still gambles, I'm sure his well-thought 1994 guidelines would benefit from updating. I would be first on line to buy the new book. The organization and research of "One-Armed Bandit" are outstanding.

Editorial Review:

One of America's bestselling gaming authors has written the definitive book on slot machines. Players can learn what makes some machines player-friendly and other machines player-deadly and how to distinguish between them. In the land of the one-armed bandits, this new book is the road map slot players need.
