A Fresh Breath of Screwtape 5 out of 5 stars.

If you love The Screwtape Letters, then you will love Acting Spritual. But in addition to being entertained, you will be confronted with one of the most deadly--and readily accepted--aspects of "church life" in this day and age. Legalism--our tendency to try to earn God's love rather than accept His gift of life each day--is killing our ability to live in Christian community. This is definately a message that the church needs to hear, and Von Maltitz uses this humorous series of letters as a very gentle means of presenting the truth in love.
Editorial Review:
Comic relief for weary church folks. Ian von Maltitz has lived through church yet remains a Christian. No doubt, his unique sense of humor and powers of observation have helped him thrive. This book is a humorous expose of modern-day legalism, self-righteousness, and hypocrisy in the Church. Its principal character is Self-righteous, who attempts to instruct his young protege, Sanctimonious, on how to lead his Christian life. In the style of C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, von Maltitz pulls the mask off the modern Pharisee. This books helps you break pretenses and enjoy a healthy faith. Ian von Maltitz has been involved in Christian work since 1970. He has authored two other books and numerous articles. He lives in Colorado with his wife, Yvonne, and two children.
