Editorial Review:

Jason Fox rules . . . his computer code, at calc and trig, and in whatever fantasy he happens to be headlining at the moment. Just because the rest of the Fox family-from older brother Peter and sister Paige to parents Roger and Andy-haven't quite accepted his Dominion Over All isn't cause for concern. Math geeks, Jason is convinced, will govern the earth, and he will lead the way. FoxTrotius Maximus: A FoxTrot Treasury, picks up on Jason's megalomania and runs with it . . . and it doesn't stop until readers are out of breath from laughing so hard.

FoxTrotius Maximus combines the works Your Momma Thinks Square Roots Are Vegetables, Who's Up for Some Bonding, and Am I a Mutant or What? That means longtime FoxTrot readers and new fans alike are treated to Jason and his friend Marcus's never-ending antics, Andy's ongoing allergy fun, Peter's latest hot haircut, and a host of pop-culture trends and topics including music piracy, video games, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Timely, topical, and terribly funny!

This latest FoxTrot treasury represents the ninth anthology of Amend's wildly successful comic strip, based upon the cartoonist's 17 previous books and his daily and Sunday syndicated appearances in more than 1,000 newspapers worldwide. FoxTrot truly is one of America's all-time favorite comics, and combined sales of nearly three million copies show that Amend knows how to capture and keep his audience's humor-loving attention. All hail, FoxTrotius Maximus!

Readers Digest jokes and cartoons without Readers Digest. 5 out of 5 stars.
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

If you buy the Readers Digest just for the jokes and cartoons then you dont need to anymore. The jokes and cartoons are all here compiled into 1 book.

Good value, good quality and a great laugh and makes an ideal gift. What more could you want?.

Good, but not great 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book contains several classic jokes, and some funny jokes I never heard before. It also contains some clunkers. I suspect that reading jokes is just not as laugh-packed as watching a top comic deliver the same jokes in person.

The Healing Power of Humor 5 out of 5 stars.

This book will provide lots of laughs. But if you want to know why laughter is the best medicine
you should also own The Healing Power of Humor (Tarcher, 1989)... a classic in the field which
contains fourteen techniques of how to increase your sense of humor. Also available on Amazon.

Editorial Review:

More than 600 jokes, gags and laugh lines. Drawn from one of the most popular features of Reader's Digest magazine, this collection of jokes, one-liners, and other lighthearted glimpses of life is just what the doctor ordered.

Fun, but not all it's cracked up to be 3 out of 5 stars.
14 of 21 people found this review helpful.

The book's promo implies that it is a collection of blunders by famous people. This is partly true. There are some interesting malapropisms and other goofs from famed people, but there are also a lot of obscure, random entries from nameless or otherwise unknown people. For example, some quotes are credited to, "An Irish Politician" or other nameless people.

In summary, some aspects are entertaining and the book is unique. For quote fanatics, it is worthwhile addition to your collection if you have the money to spare.

And I didn't say any of them 4 out of 5 stars.

Since they're a married couple, I know they had fun. "Hey honey, listen to what THIS moron said?" "Oh yeah, well, how about THIS moron?" LOL and giggle giggle.

I don't mean to belittle them. I like this book. They chose quite well, and they did a whole lot of research. I bet it was hard for them to limit themselves to 776 stupid things, so we got the stupidest.

(I can probably say 776 stupid things before breakfast, but let's leave that discussion for another day.)

Don't you remember going to the library and finding a good collection of quotes to enjoy when you just weren't in the mood to digest a novel or something? Great reading on buses, when working as a security guard, waiting in line at the bank, whatever. I read this one a second time and recognized a few that I stole for my very own website.

And that, alas, maybe why this type of book is a dying breed. The Internet. We all compile our own lists of quotes now. Why buy theirs? It's not like these things can really be copyrighted, since all quotes must by definition come from other sources. But hey, it's easily portable if you want to read it in the places I named above. It's a good collection, and it's much larger than what tends to appear on websites.

"...her original programming will activate and she will kill all humans."

This caption runs underneath a picture of an elderly woman in a rocking chair reading, while a boy looks at her trepidatiously.

If you find this sort of thing amusing, I suspect that like me, you'll very much enjoy this book. These comics are sort of like a British youngsters version of Dan Piraro's excellent "Bizarro." By making things deliberately topsy-turvy, Andy Riley gets us to think about the world in a different way.

And that's a good thing.

Editorial Review:

New, wicked humor from the author of the bestselling Bunny Suicides books

On the heels of his runaway Bunny Suicides books, cartoonist Andy Riley turns his irreverent wit to another group of small creatures that lurk among us seemingly everywhere: children.

From the benign (every ant you meet must be named) to the truly cruel (Ronald McDonald is dead!), each hilarious cartoon has a tall tale to educate children and entertain wicked adults everywhere.

Praise for Andy Riley:
“Wonderfully deviant.”—The Washington Post
“It’s the funniest, bunniest book I’ve ever read.”—Elton John
“Brilliantly researched. The most important book of the year.”—Hugh Grant

Love it! Fun Conversations 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My husband and I carpool every day to work, and take turns reading questions from the book and discussing our answers. We LOVE this book, it's so fun - some of the questions are very off the wall, thought provoking, or downright silly. It's provided us with hours of entertainment. I would recommend this for family get-togethers (older families, some of the questions are very sexual in nature), road trips, or just killing time.

Editorial Review:

The comic phenomenon known as the Would You Rather…? series finds its ultimate expression in this enormous compilation of deranged dilemmas — more than 1,500 in nearly 500 pages! — accompanied by zany illustrations, games, and comedic riffs. Authors Justin Heimberg and David Gomberg draw on everything from movies and music to food and drink in this collection that's perfect for groups, parties, or the lone reader who wants a good laugh.

Find a laugh at the place that you need it 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Georgie Jessel would have loved this book. He was endlessly talking of the 'Friar's Club' in his old routines. But the truth is this book has quite a bit of material which comes from other sources. Never mind. There are jokes here for every situation and every occasion. The one- liners are conveniently indexed under subject making it easy to decide to be amused about something and finding a particular subject.
This is of course a book not to be ' read through' but rather dipped into here and there when one feels like a little chuckle or smile. There is however some bad taste dirty stuff which a number of readers have complained about, and which the editor might have done without. Of course in doing so he would have taken out one major element of 'Friar's Club ' humor.
Usually I find something disheartening about joke- books especially if they are too 'low in spirit'. I prefer a kind of mild humor as exemplified by this kind of joke.
"Behind every successful man , stands an amazed woman"
The work is not all jokes and has little stories and anecdotes also.
Enjoy.

Editorial Review:

Here is the most extensive collection of jokes ever compiled of Friars Club members and other comedians, covering every imaginable subject, from aging to dieting, fashion to fathers, birth control to male anatomy. Includes selections from nearly 400 of the best comic minds of this century. The perfect reference for toast-makers, speech-writers, or anyone looking for a good laugh.

THREE BOOKS IN ONE A TRIPLE HELPING OF GARFIELD HUMOR
MEANS THREE TIMES THE FUN!

He used to be perfect, but now he’s even better! Garfield, the fat cat with the super sized ego, is back in the spotlight, dissing his dimwitted owner Jon – even pilfering his pants. Some cats chase mice; Garfield prefers to take legal action. When down on the farm, the city kitty puts up with-and puts down-Jon and his barnyard brother. No wonder Garfield’s often in a bad mood.

But no matter what, he’s always in the mood for food!

The GARFIELD FAT CAT 3-PACK series collects the GARFIELD comic-strip compilation books in a new, full-color format. Garfield may have gone through a few changes, but one thing has stayed the same: his enormous appetite for food and fun. So enjoy some super sized laughs with the insatiable cat, because too much fun is never enough!

Editorial Review:

The best book on a hot new subject! This jam-packed how-to by a former Marvel Comics cartoonist offers everything a budding artist needs.

Written and illustrated by a former Marvel Comics’ artist with brilliant hand-done images throughout, this graphic handbook of cartooning is without equal. It's simply larger, better illustrated, and more in depth than any similar title on the market. In elaborate detail, it focuses on superheroes and their atmospheric world filled with speed and movement. Every aspect of creating cartoons is taught: the supplies, developing mood, and the techniques that endow characters with personality. See how to draw a variety of faces (female, heroic, cute, gaunt), and give the appearance of age. From the skeleton to the torso, to the arms, hands, and legs, follow every stroke that goes into producing bodies of all shapes and sizes. Finally, there's instruction on sending those figures into running, jumping, punching, kicking action in a fully realized scene. With advice so thorough, any amateur can become a pro.
