Editorial Review:

Women and men alike can reclaim their face with The Yoga Facelift, an exercise, energetics, and meditation program specifically designed by Marie-Véronique Nadeau for the most prominent feature of the body. We are inundated with exercise programs to tone abs, biceps, triceps, and insteps, but none to exercise and maintain the most hardworking set of muscles in our entire body, the face!

Nadeau has devised a holistic method for ridding the face of frown lines, reducing extra chins, and eradicating chicken neck. Her book is filled with useful charts, instructive photographs, and simple and natural exercises that readers can do in just five or ten minutes every day while waiting in traffic, talking on the phone, or working in front of the computer, all the while taking years off their face.

Forget BOTOX. Don't even think of invasive and potentially dangerous plastic surgeries. Ditch the collagen. And enter the stress-free, effective world of Nadeau's restorative yoga therapy. The Yoga Facelift will enhance inner and outer beauty and help you to put your best face forward!

* Gorgeous black-and-white photographs accompany each yoga pose.

IS GOOD TASTE NEEDED TO WRITE A STYLE BOOK? 1 out of 5 stars.
4 of 6 people found this review helpful.

This is a dishonest book. In the first section, where the author discusses how to handle specific body area issues the before and after pictures are not honest. The before pictures are posed to emphasize the flaw. The after pictures are shot from a slightly different angle, thereby making the *improvement* look much more effective than it really is.
My second issue with this book is how out-of-date it seems. About 3/4 of the way through I looked at the back of the title page. I was amazed to see this book was published in 2008. The clothing styles are outdated, they are tacky and mostly unflattering. Even the clothing and looks used in the *solution* pictures are just awful. Now, I am not looking for Armani here but some style might be appropriate in a book of this sort.
In the last part of the book were are shown total ensembles, to change the appearance of certain parts of the body. The solutions, the clothes used, the whole effect was sad. Sorry, sad is the right word.
And what is this supposedly experienced and successful stylist's solution to *curvy* figures? TA DA: JACKETS! Stop the presses! Jackets for women who are any degree larger then the *norm* is the #1, passe and most unoriginal solution possible.
I want you to consider a hypothetical situation, imagine you are a larger woman living in one of the hotter areas of the country (Florida, the south, southwest). Can you imagine the sweaty torment of those darn jackets day after day in 90+ degree heat and close to 100% humidity.
I find the authors claim to long term success hard to swallow. One last caveat. The title page of each section is done in an extremely light and thin font. It is difficult to read. Did anyone proof this book?
Ok, I am almost done. I wasted $15.95 USD on this book. There is not a outfit I would wear in here. The advertised *solutions* are already well-known (let's see, long necklaces and scarves draped around the neck for a short neck)
I do want to mention my top 2 suggestions from this book
1) wear horizontal stripes on top to balance a heavier bottom
2) wear vertical striped tops to hide the appearance of heavy arms
Need I say more?

Editorial Review:

An illustrated guide for using clothes to overcome body challenges and create an individualized look and style.

For any woman who has a big butt, flat chest, large waist, thick ankles, unwieldy thighs, short legs, or a round belly, Style Rx is the prescription she needs. With more than 250 photographs and fifteen illustrative personal case studies, image and style consultant Bridgette Raes helps women to understand the unique proportions of their bodies, part by part, rather than classifying the female body into an impossible generic "type." She prescribes cuts, colors, and fabrics that make the most (or if necessary, the least) of what they have for their best possible look. With practical advice, a mix-andmatch approach, and an understanding of how to create balance, she helps tackle common body issues and finds clothes than can make women look and feel great-as simply as possible

The recipes were good but....... 4 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

I liked Caseys recipes but..it was almost tiring just reading her instructions,like...start with this pan, then put the mixture in that pan...then stir both pans at the same time.I make and mix my soap in one pan,it's really not that difficult.I agree with another reviewer who said it does'nt have to be a team effort. The best soapmaking book I have ever bought is "The Everything Soapmaking Book" by Alicia Grosso. This book has all the information you will ever need to make really beautiful handmade soap.

Worth having if you want to make whoke like soaps. 4 out of 5 stars.
9 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I was initailly intimidated by this book and I owned it for a while before I attempted her methods. But if you want to make soap with real milk (not powdered as an additive) this is a great resource. Making whole milk soap is not easy. This methods works. I admit I use a stick blender and keep it in one pot but my milk has never curdled due to her cold bath method. Her recipes produce gentle, silky soaps and are made with readily available ingredients. My main complaint with some of the other books is that you cannot get many of the ingredients unless you go online and pay shipping. I agree with another reviewer that she does not explain the why behind some of her methods. I think the glycerine and the sugar are for more lather but I'm not positive. I know the amount of honey is limited due to the risk of the soap overheating in the mold. My only other concern about her recipes is that they do not produce much lather and I like bubbles. However, now that I know the method and have had a lot of success I can experiment with the recipes to customize the soap.

Great gift idea 5 out of 5 stars.
13 of 15 people found this review helpful.

What a great gift idea for a recent college grad entering the job market or a teenager ready for a little more sophistication! (Not to mention those of us finally just getting around to using makeup and dressing better.)

This basic guide to style is clearly written, with instructions simplified into lists, and cleanly illustrated. The suggestions are up-to-the-minute without being over-the-top outrageous -- in other words, a how-to style guide that's actually useful. Highly recommended.

A Beginner's Manual 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I found this book while loitering in a gift shop & read it in about an hour. It's not terribly useful for a 40 plus woman. It's a better book for women just forming their identity. If you have established taste, have been reading magazines & fashion/ beauty books for a while, this book will not offer you any new information. It is attractively presented & illustrated, if a bit random in its organization. The only information that was new to me was what should be in a bar.Otherwise, how to buy jeans, suits, black pants, lipsticks & sheets is second nature to a lot of women. Granted, I plan on giving this to my teenage daughter, as SHE doesn't know yet things like how to find & use a tailor, pour wine or decide how much to spend on a coat yet.

Editorial Review:

This timeless, fun, step-by-step book covers fashion, beauty, entertaining and more.

Disappointment central 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I was really disappointed in this book. If your desire is to look like your favorite celebrity, then this is the book for you. It is more of a photo spread on how to copy a look like rather than creating your own style. There are other fashion 'how-to' books out there that are much better than this. 'In Style Secrets of Style' is a much better place to start. Try this book instead!

Great book for easy style ideas. 5 out of 5 stars.

What a fantastic book! I refer to it frequently for various fashion tips whenever I am having a blank moment! Being a mum of 3 I often dont have time to think too much about my wardrobe so this book has been really useful.

pretty good 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

first, i wanted to reply to Elle, who said that she got orange hair from using the 'light blonde' dye reccomended to get 'caramel'. i also did the same thing, but with different results. though my hair didn't end up a perfect caramel, it did lighten it up nicely to a color that i've been getting lots of compliments on. i never would have used that store-bought color otherwise, as my hair is too dark to go 'light blonde'. but, since my tab was in the right section, i did. perhaps your hair was too dark or you left the color in for too long?

so, while it worked alright for me, i did find the book less than thrilling. again with the protecting your hairline, etc... very basic. i wanted insider tips, not the ABC's.

that being said, i liked all the different color options and will certainly experiment with other recipes in the book.

overall, it's a good thing to look at in the bookstore if you want new ideas, but i wouldn't exactly run out to buy it.
