This book is amazing . It covers Acne , Celluilite , natural scare removal , caring for your skin as you age , and so much more . I will be forever refering back to this book as my life goes on . Its full of easy recipies , and best of all , it doesnt try to sell you any thing . You will not regret buying this book .

This book greatly exceeded my expectations. It is clearly written, concise, and very informative. The author offers many good ideas on how to formulate your own skin care products for your skin type. I have tried many of her suggestions, and my skin has never felt healthier & clearer. As someone who has suffered from acne for years, this is a real tribute to the author!

Whether you are looking for a beauty quick fix or a complete makeover, this book is a wonderful resource. It can be read cover to cover and then become a user-friendly and thorough guide to be kept by your vanity. It has helped me sort through the various products and trends out there while reminding me that some tried and true advice still holds today.

The only acne book you need. 5 out of 5 stars.

I was privileged to read an advance copy of this book. As a dermatologist, I have always discouraged my patients from buying acne "self-help" books because all of them are either insultingly oversimplified or numbingly complex. And in the end, the answer to your acne problem, amazingly enough, always turns out to be the author's own miracle regimen, which he or she will be only too happy to sell you for an unconscionable amount of money.

And frankly, I never thought a book in the "Dummies" series would be the one to break that mold. However, I can honestly say this is no less than the finest and most objective layperson's acne book ever written.

Dr. Goodheart has succeeded admirably where many others have failed -- he has taken a very confusing subject and made it crystal clear. He explains what acne is, in terms anyone can understand. He outlines the various types of acne, along with various treatment options, both over-the-counter and prescription, for each, and even addresses disease "lookalikes" that are often confused with acne, even by some physicians.

And most importantly, he cuts through all the lies, legends, and myths of acne treatment. You will learn which treatments really work, and which are a waste of money. You will learn what you can do for acne on your own, and what you should leave to the professionals. And most importantly, you will learn all of this from someone without a financial interest in which treatment you choose.

Finally, an honest physician, who is not trying to sell you any miracle potions or magical snake oils, has set on paper a completely objective evaluation of all the legitimate treatment options available, including Accutane.

Everyone who suffers with potentially disfiguring acne -- and their parents -- should read this book. It will be an invaluable resource for them, and for me as well. I will have several copies in my waiting room.

Skin Care Beyond the Basics 5 out of 5 stars.

Lee's book is a must for all estheticians (skin care specialists) and medical personnel looking for a simple-to-understand text directed to teach and provide review about basic skin chemistry, ingredient chemistry, skin disorders, their causes, challenges, and how to treat. His chapters on "The Immune System" and "Essential Knowledge of Chemistry," give a a great dialoque on understanding our immune system and basic chemistry. Mr. Lee is a great teacher. He puts difficult theories into "people language." Skin care correction for highly damaged skin is very well explained. Having been in professional skin care for 17 years, I find this book a marvelous reference. Its provides some of the latest findings and theories for accurate analysis. For the lay person,new student,or beauty editor, it offers great insight into the complexity of our skin, the body's largest organ, and how it plays a vital role to protect us. It also explains about skin diseases and how they are recognized and treated. The best thing is that this is an accurate book based on science and written by a well qualified and experienced person. After all, skin care is a science and plays a large role in preventative health care.

Dr. Doris Day promised a younger me in 2 weeks with just simple lifestyle changes. Until I saw the results first hand, I doubted the possibility, as anyone would. I was surprised to find that these changes were not painful resolutions or deprivation; they felt more like self indulgences.

In her refreshingly smart and insightful book, Forget the Facelift , Dr. Day helps us confront the fact that dealing with life's stress is not easy but basically unavoidable in today's world. She explains how physically and emotionally there are saboteurs at every turn and navigating them is easier with a little professional medical advice as well as some sound ideas on treating yourself better. She gives us examples of how she has helped many of her own patients look years younger even before they had any treatment in her office.

But don't be fooled by the spiritual side of this brilliant doctor; her book is filled with medical and technical answers to questions we all have, written in a way that we can understand and use to our benefit. Understanding the physiology of skin really increases awareness of what damages us and what helps us glow. She lists ingredients to look for in beauty products when faced with the confusing array of choices. In addition, she includes what can cause problems and what her favorites are. She names names - there's no hiding from Dr. Day.

She also provides time saving skin care routines, quick ways to eat healthy meals, an explanation of ingredients, vitamins and supplements allowing you to figure things out on your own. These are all ways Dr. Day helps you become educated in looking great.

And finally, if all of her `pearls of wisdom' leave you still wanting more youth, she gives straight forward information on some basic skin enhancing procedures and treatments such as peels, botox, fillers, laser treatments, the thread lift and other new and non invasive (doable at lunchtime) procedures that you might want to consider.

Dr. Day has packed a great deal of valuable information in to a quick read. Take my word for it, it is well worth your time.
