I read a borrowed copy of Releasing Fat: Developing Healthy lifestyles that Have the Side-Effect of Permanent Weight Loss. It wasn't until after I ordered a copy for myself AND and copy of Healthy for Life... that I read the blurbs about them on Dr. Strand's website. You can't tell on the Amazon site that the books are virtually identical. The only difference is that Releasing Fat includes Usana products (meal replacements, snack bars, and vitamins and minerals) in its meal plans. Healthy for Life just has low-glycemic foods in its meal plans. If you want only one copy, you just need to get one or the other, not both. HOWEVER, I wasn't bothered by having two copies of what amounted to the same book because I've learned so much about insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, killer (abdominal) fat, carb cravings, cellular nutrition, and the benefits of a low-glycemic diet that I wanted to recommend it to all my friends and relatives.
There are a lot of low-gycemic diet books out there now, but this is the only one I've seen that goes into such detail about the specific negative health effects that result from the way most Americans eat and how a change to a low-glycemic diet will counteract those health problems.

If you are on a statin drug or are thinking of going on a statin, this fully referenced book, Statin Drug Side Effects, is a "must read" for you. The unacceptable legacy of statin drug use at today's high doses is a trail of chronic aches and pains, numbness, weakness, confusion, fatigue, shortness of breath and even heart failure in hordes of unsuspecting victims. Only by knowing this information, and in consultation with your healthcare professional, can you make an informed decision about your health care. If you are a user of Vytorin, Lipitor, Zocor, Crestor, Mevacor, Pravachol or Lescol you must read this book. Most of the statin side effects I discuss are unknown to your busy doctor. Although knowledgeable about muscle and liver problems, few have heard of statin amnesia and other forms of memory dysfunction and fewer still associate hostility, aggression and profound depression as statin related. As a former astronaut, aerospace medical research scientist, flight surgeon and family doctor, I was appalled by the lack of information in the medical community on the full range of side effects of the statin drugs. I truly agree with the review written by M. Savoie "waxnwane" (Bound Brook, NJ USA).

I add that this book is like an owner's manual for the human body. I, too, went to a Holistic Massage School, and I thank the powers that be that I got this book from them! I am learning things from this book that I have not found (written or spoken) anywhere else.

I specifically like the "Anatomy of the Meridians: The Chi Flow Clock" on pg. 28. It illustrates what organ is active or passive at corresponding times of the day/night. I have never seen this information anywhere else.

It is easy to use, and most of the ingredients can be found in your local grocery store (for the cleanses). I keep this book in plain site in my home, and anyone who asks me gets overwhelmed by my response.

If you buy no other "health" book than this one, you have purchased the best one! Someone had to do it .... THANK YOU ELSON M. HAAS for writing this book!!!!

Excellent Resource -- Look Past the Title!! 5 out of 5 stars.

For months I have seen this book advertised and always thought it was quick way to make a buck on the "What Would Jesus Do?" slogan. Then after reading a couple of Colbert's other books, I decided to give this title a try. I am SO glad I did! Colbert here offers sound, medical and nutritional advice on what is basically a Mediterranean eating plan. The Biblical references do serve as a motivation for Christians to eat in a healthier manner. Jesus no doubt had a Mediterranean diet, and there are numerous references to it in the Scriptures.

If you can get beyond the trite title and get into what Colbert presents, I don't believe you'll be disappointed. Most books I read I sell once I've read them. This one for me is a keeper!

The late Dr. Roy L.
