Outdated 2 out of 5 stars.

While the information in this book is useful, it is a bit outdated. I recommend Ragnar Benson's newer book, "Do-It-Yourself Medicine", which was written as an update to this book.

Skip it, search the web instead. 1 out of 5 stars.

Ragnar's worst book ever. I own and value six others by him.
Devoid of useful information except for one concept, veterinarian medicines = human medicines, no prescription needed, dosages vary - check PDR, visit your local farm supply store.

Excellent book .. from his experience treating real people! 5 out of 5 stars.

A Great Book. Explains how to treat many diseases with
veterinary medicines. This man knows what he is talking about.
This book is written from his experience treating real people
in remote Africa and other far-away places. Ragnar has saved many lives with his knowledge and veterinary medicines.
A vital book for your emergency or survival library

Editorial Review:

From his years helping Third World natives, Ragnar Benson brings you this handbook for doctoring humans with readily obtainable, cheaply priced vet that are often identical to prescription drugs and cost only a fraction as much. Tetanus, typhoid and gun-wound infections will never again strike fear in the hearts of survivalists who pack this illustrated handbook in with their antibiotics, syringes, sulfa drugs, sewing needles and sutures.

THIS IS A VERY HELPFUL BOOK FOR FIRST TIME FIRST AIDERS.
IT IS VERY EXPLANATORY AND PROVIDES LOTS OF VISUAL AIDS SO THE AVERAGE PERSON CAN LEARN FIRST AID.

Editorial Review:

First Aid: Taking Action covers the material required for a semester long First Aid course. The focus is teaching how to recognize and act in any emergency and to sustain life until professional help can arrive. Quality content will feature information based on the 2005 national guidelines for breathing and cardiac emergencies, including CPR, choking care and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Other information includes bleeding control, first aid for sudden illnesses and injuries, and remote first aid. Information is presented in a concise easy-to-read manner that works as a handy reference after the course. A National Safety Council completion card for CPR and First Aid are available with the course.

The Best Source For Knee Information 5 out of 5 stars.
17 of 24 people found this review helpful.

Being a student and wanting to be a doctor, I read lots of medical books so I can gain a better understanding for anatomy and medicine.

In Dr. Scott's Knee Book, Dr. Scott writes as if he were on your level as to what you know about the human knee. He doesn't write like he's a big shot orthopaedic surgeon talking to incompetents. In his great book, Dr. Scott focuses on the anatomy of the knee, diseases and inhuries of the knee, and treatments for knee problems. He basically covers everything that somebody would want to know on the knee.

I recommend this handy book to a medical student, soembody that has knee problems, or anybody interested in the anatomy, treatment, and diagnosis of the knee. This is a great reference that should be in your home medical library.

HAPPY READING!

Editorial Review:

The team physician for the New York Knicks tells readers everything they need to know about the body's most vulnerable joint--the knee--and provides invaluable advice on how to prevent, recognize, and treat knee injuries. 15 line drawings.

the best book 5 out of 5 stars.
15 of 15 people found this review helpful.

Natural First Aid will help you to care for others with the natural remedies you have on hand. The key is to stay calm, move quickly, and know what to do. If you need to arm yourself with information for both emergency and non-emergency situations this is the book. After reading it I have come to the conclusion that it is one of those indispensable reference books everyone should have. It's definitely a book to have in the First Aid kit when camping. Brigitte Mars also tells us the most important items to stock in a natural first-aid kit for your car, backpack, and yes ladies even in your handbag.

Do you know that cayenne pepper can stop bleeding? Or that garlic can alleviate a toothache? Or that honey can soothe a burn?

I was impressed with NATURAL FIRST AID. It's easy to read and understand and there is nothing extreme about the natural remedies. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Editorial Review:

September is National Preparedness Month, and Informed® is supporting this nationwide effort by encouraging Americans to take the first simple step to prepare for emergencies in their home and communities. Enter promotion code PREPARE at checkout to receive $3 off the Home Emergency Pocket Guide™ through September 30, 2008.

The USA has only one firefighter for every 280 people and one police officer for every 385 people. That means that in an emergency, most people “are going to be on their own for possibly 48 to 72 hours,” says David Paulison of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Your response to an emergency often determines the impact the situation will have on those around you. Knowing what to do saves lives. This easy-to-use guide is organized by event type and gives you the best course of action to take in each situation.

Because we live in uncertain times, this guide also includes information on how to survive homeland attacks and acts of domestic terrorism, including survival tactics in the event of chemical or biological contamination.

This pocket-size guide is a handy reference tool you will want to keep in your kitchen, medicine cabinet, 72 hour kit and car. While we hope this information is never needed, having it within reach will ensure you respond in ways that increase your safety and security.

This booklet was great. I taught a small refresher course in CPR/PR and used it. The information is presented in a very easy to understand format and the review questions at the end of the chapters are wonderful.
