Diana Palmer at her Historical best! 5 out of 5 stars.
9 of 11 people found this review helpful.

Calloway is just like you imagine a cowboy from that era to be. Especially liked the link with her previous historical novel Amelia. Also we get a brief mention of Jared Dunn who has his own story in Noelle

A good beginning of the story 3 out of 5 stars.

I don't appreciate the hero of the story, Cal who appears to be so self-centered and has given so much sufferings to Nora who, in my opinion, doesn't deserve all of these. I has the perception that the author always tends to depict her characters into two forms: for man, they are aggressive, ruthless and sometimes very rude; for woman, they are naive, innocent and lovely. Very feminine. I would like to see more changes in the development of her characters which are closer to people we see in our real life and inborn with some of the virtue we admire. However, her another story "hunter" is fascinating. The struggle and passion of the two characters are strongly felt and are vividly described. It has become one of my favorites.

Editorial Review:

Nora Marlowe came to Texas with visions of dashing cowboys and great adventure -- but one despicable man with infernal laughing eyes, Cal Barton, took it upon himself to put an end to her illusions. Now Nora's love for Cal will cost her everything she holds dear. . .

Disgusted 1 out of 5 stars.

I think it is official. Diana you should turn in your pen. I am sorry but this was the worst yet. How does anyone condone the fact that this poor girl who had lived through enough was a victim of date rape? Just because you know your attacker does not mean it is any less awful. Yet, it was never acknowledged as this by the author or those around them. He intended for them to have sex and she did not plan or want to have intimate relations. He took advantage of her and showed no true remorse. As usual for Diana's characters, she took the blame which is typical for most victims. Ms. Palmer, your views are from a day gone by. Men who treat women so horribly are no longer found acceptable in today's society. I commend you for holding high moral standards for your women but why is it ok for your men to act so atrociously? Readers, please be warned when you read this book, it is a substandard example of a once wonderful writer.

Editorial Review:

Rancher Jared Cameron was a mystery to everyone in Jacobsville, Texas…and he liked it that way. Only sweet-natured bookseller Sara dared to intrude on his privacy—informing the loner that a book on ogres might be more appropriate for a man of his qualities. Charmed by her audaciousness, Jared seduced the town's plain Jane. But their burgeoning relationship soon thrust Sara into Jared's hidden world of intrigue.

Now the iron cowboy had to steel himself for the fight of his life…and his heart.

Same old Diana Palmer 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 8 people found this review helpful.

These two stories were entertaining but they were the same old Diana Palmer. Both had the tough men who smoked and believed something bad about the heroine. The girl was always a vigin, shy and religious. Can't we any types of characters in her books? I can not even remember any of the plot of these stories. If you are thinking of buying these don't!!

I bought this book on impulse. I wish I had read the reviews first. This is truly one of the worst books I have ever read. I won't detail this book's many faults as they have been adequately described by other reviewers.

This book was so bad that I won't ever buy another book by this writer. I understand that she is quite popular. Why, I cannot fathom.

Editorial Review:

Handsome, eligible ranch owner Stuart York was not one to mince words. Ivy Conley, his younger sister's best friend, found out the hard way. Although still an innocent, Ivy knows she has to fight her own battles, but for some reason Stuart is always fighting them for her, and keeping her from harm. And, safe in Stuart's arms, Ivy feels like a woman—a woman who belongs to him.

Editorial Review:

Woman Hater

Everyone in the office described the boss's mysterious older brother as wary of the female of the species--a real woman hater. He'd been burned in the past, and now was twice shy, to say the least. So when Nicole White had to travel with her ailing employer to his brother's home in Montana, she was prepared for the worst.

What she found was a man more roughly masculine than any she'd ever met.

But Winthrop Christopher's distrust of women ran straight to the bone. Nicki knew she should avoid him, but she couldn't hide from the feelings he stirred in her. Could she ever teach this woman hater to love again?

If Winter Comes

Charismatic Phoenix mayor Bryan Moreland had already won the devotion of his constituents and was well on his way to getting reporter Carla Maxwell's vote…until she found out that the hunky leader wasn't all he claimed to be. Rumor had it the popular politician was an embezzler. It was just a rumor, Carla told herself. As a reporter she'd have to get to the bottom of it; as a woman, she wanted nothing more than to lose herself in sexy Mayor Moreland's arms. Or was that exactly where he wanted her, for reasons other than love and seduction?

FINALLY - SOME GALS WHO DON'T SLEEP AROUND! 5 out of 5 stars.
41 of 42 people found this review helpful.

Both stories are about young women who find love in their innocence. And about men who refuse to completely compromise these young women's virginity. Yes, this is a very powerful emotional balance.

As these were billed as The Men of Medicine Ridge, I was waiting to see if they knew each other. Never did find out.

Mack Killian has been raising his siblings and Natalie Brock, an orphan taken in by the Killian family, have a very strong attraction. Mack has lost the sight of one eye from a bull goring and Natalie helped strengthen his will to pull through.

He can't see taking on a wife and saddling her with his responsibilities. But his two brothers and sister actually do love Natalie. Almost as much as he does. Which, of course he won't give into his love.

Yea! Natalie somehow wins in the end --- you will love these stories. Finally, the ladies are not tramps.

Gil Callister is in need of a secretary for his brother, John.
When he asks Kasie why she wants the job. [I love her answer] "Because John is a dish!"
He is also fascinated by her odd character references. "A Catholic priest, a nun, a Texas Ranger and a self-made millionaire with alleged mob ties."

And then he finds out that she and her brother were named for this mercenary - K.C. Kantor [what a story]
Kasie actually turns Gil's life upside-down. His secretary claims not to know how to use a computer. His nanny does not like baby-sitting. And Kasie just does not like doing taxes. And she has a fear of flying. Wait till you find out how the group resolves itself - especially when Gil sees his brother kiss Kasie.

D.P. has given us a couple of real men, although Mack was a bit of a tom-cat. And these two women are worthy of being definitely female [not a pair of alley-cats]

There is enough emotional tension without the bed hopping to make fantastic romance - this is what some of us dream of finding.
Decent guys!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED with no reservations -- definitely a keeper for those of us with high ideals.

PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION: Hunter: The desert was no place for a female. But as chief of security for a top secret operation, Hunter had his orders, and Jennifer Marist needed his protection. He thought he could handle spending a week on the rugged Arizona plains with the one woman he was determined never to touch.... But he hadn't planned on the lure of Jenny's wild, sweet passion--or on discovering a love he'd never dreamed possible.
PUBLISHER DESCRIPTION: Man in Control: Ever since DEA agent Alexander Cobb had given Jodie Clayburn a Texas-size brush-off, they'd been sworn enemies. But eight years later, this cynical long, tall Texan couldn't believe the baby-faced schoolgirl had turned into such a beauty. Or that she'd help him crack the drug-smuggling case that threatened Jacobsville. He'd risk everything to protect her. Would the man in control finally get caught in his own web of danger...and desire?

Hunter, published in 1990, centers on Hunter, thought to be somewhat alpha, part Native American security chief, and Jennifer Marist, thought to be somewhat prissy, geologist.

Man in Control, published in 2003, centers on DEA agent Alexander Tyrell Cobb & HR Assistant Jordana "Jodie" Clayburn. This story combines the typical "younger-sister's-best-friend's crush-on turned love-for, the older brother with a DEA investigation; add a dash of humor, family issues, esteem issues; then include ties to the Long, Tall Texans of Jacobsville Texas, and the Mercenaries, aka Soldiers of Fortune, and you have a story as only Diana Palmer can tell it. (One of my favorite DPs!!!)

Two classic Diana Palmer reprints, both are solid stories that are typically DP. These two are probably reprinted together because Hunter appears in Man in Control.

Good but not Diana Palmer's best. 2 out of 5 stars.
7 of 13 people found this review helpful.

Each story in Long Tall Texan Summer was a little too short to reach the full potential that Ms. Palmer usually reaches. The romantic tension between the characters barely starts before it is over. Most Diana Palmer's novels are fantastic but I would reccomend passing on this book and choosing another by her.

THIS IS ONE OF HERE BEST AND MOST ENJOYABLE. 5 out of 5 stars.

This book was ok. I certianly liked Drew Morris's story out of all the others. It made me get teary eyed, laugh and just want to root for the couple. Tom Walker's story was ok, it did make me want to find out more about his sister, to see if she had a story or not. Jobe Dodd's story was my least favorite, it was good but I feel a little too short.

Editorial Review:

A trio of summertime love stories based on the popular miniseries Long Tall Texans follows three strong-willed, tender-hearted inhabitants of Jacobsville, Texas--Tom Walker, Drew Morris, and Jobe Dodd--as they search for love under the hot Texas sun. Original."

This is NOT a sleeper! 5 out of 5 stars.
25 of 29 people found this review helpful.

I'm a little apalled at the first customer's review by calling this story one to 'take a nap'! Although, before reading this book, I had never heard of or read Diana Palmer's previous sellers (including those written under her old pen name 'Katy Currie') I found this book to be very good and insightful. I must admit that in some parts the predictability of what would happen next was point blank. However, if all the reader does is try to 'predict' what will happen next then they are missing the story! To me, it was obviously a beautiful love story between a blind man and a woman who had not known real love. It showed how we as humans are so quick to 'see' a person on the outside without even considering the real soul within. The characters fall in love with each other not because of a physical attraction, which we know does not last forever, but on the basis of a trusting and complete love that surpasses the physical appearances. An excellent example of the character's relationship, which is realized in the end, can be found in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. For those of you who have not read this book, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to (for a few hours) live in the world of two lonely people who find each other and give of themselves what they thought could never have, and that is true love!

The first three books of the Long Tall Texans series. 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

Although I enjoy reading DP's books, I get tired of the repetition. Sometimes I think if you have read one of her books then you have read them all. The heroines are usually naive virgins who don't know how to dress and put up with too much from the heros. The heros usually behave badly until they quit fighting their feelings for the heroine. And all the jewelry stores only sell emerald solitairs. Reguardless of all this the stories are usually good. Some are better than others. But I do wish the women had careers, backbones, and didn't need a makeover. Justin was my favorite in this book because Shelby didn't need a makeover or seem so naive.

Editorial Review:
