Dr. Jesse Stoff does an outstanding job writing this book. I've had friends that have been patients of Dr. Stoff and they are all in remission or on the road to health. The unique thing about this book is that it gives the exact protocals of what he does in his practice, what products, therapies, stress management, etc. In fact this book could be used for anyone with any type of cancer, weakened immune system or auto-immune system problem. The only time it wouldn't involve any type of health concern is Chapter 8 since it relates to the male hormone.

I have been in the nutrition industry for 10 years now and am the Wellness Director and Nutriceutical Specialist for The Institute of Anti-Aging and Longevity, and this is the first time I have read a book that lists a balance of therapies, not a magic bullet, that will help the body heal itself if given the right nutrients and the elimination of stress and toxins. I am happy to see the the emphasis of PC SPES and AIDBCWE (or AiE10) as part of the therapy for prostate cancer. These little known substances have shown great promise in the treatment of cancer. We offer the AIDBCWE/AiE10 from Body Wise as mentioned in the book, and it definitely increases the activity of Natural Killer Cells designed to take out malignant cells.

The other unique thing about the book is that Dr. Stoff lists all the sources of where to get products and the laboratories he uses for diagnostics. This is a valuable asset.

My favorite Chapters are 6 and 7 because it relates to how the body can heal itself if the immune system is intact. Dr. Stoff's motto, "Learn how to get well and stay well" is what this book is all about. I highly recommend this book, his therapies and becoming a patient of Dr. Stoff if necessary. Dr. Stoff is one of God's miracles on the planet in helping people become well.

Seeds of Hope is the story of this physician's personal transformation as he searches for the most promising cure for his cancer. It is also the story of one man's struggle to find meaning in a potentially life-threatening illness. Writing to educate and encourage men combating this disease, Dr. Dorso skillfully describes the hurdles of biopsy, testing, diagnosis, treatment options, sexual impotence. He carefully diagrams the workings of such technological marvels as Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Bone Scans, which can do so much to detect illness, target treatment and preserve quality of life. When Dr. E. Fuller Torrey was diagnosed with prostate cancer, none of the books he could find was current enough or comprehensive enough to satisfy his need for information. This book is for the hundreds of thousands of other men who each year receive the same frightening diagnosis. It is the book Dr. Torrey wished he had when he was facing the countless questions that a man with prostate cancer, and his family and friends, all confront.

Complete, up-to-date, and readable, the book explains how to come to terms with the diagnosis of prostate cancer, evaluate the severity of the disease, and assess the variety of treatment options and their complications. Many chapters provide information other books barely consider, such as a full discussion of the causes of prostate cancer and an evaluation of other books on the subject. Having recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer, I went into the reading mode, buying 10 books from Amazon. Some are written by doctors, some by patients, and some by doctors who are patients. This particular book is written by a retired NASA space shuttle engineer who brought his excellent writing skills and systems analysis skills to researching the options in treating his own prostate cancer diagnosis. Let me say that the information on prostate cancer treatment is vast, confusing, complicated, and contradictory. There is no One Answer as to what do with your particular disease. What Mr. Jones does in this book is to explain how he navigated all this data, and how he came to the conclusion that the best option for him was proton beam radiation therapy. He then goes on to describe what it is like to undergo that treatment at Loma Linda University, the Mecca of proton beam cancer treatment. Mr. Jones' book, along with Robert Marckini's "You Can Beat Prostate Cancer - And You Don't Need Surgery to Do It" will open the eyes of a new prostate cancer patient to a glorious new alternative that your urologist is unlikely to tell you about. This is the best $15 you can spend on this subject.

Proton Beam Therapy is an advanced cancer treatment based on the elegant physics of the proton. It is not well known, because there are currently only five hospitals in the U.S. that have the expensive and complex equipment to administer it. Protons have been used for cancer treatment in the U. Seriously overpriced book that has little new to offer. It is a good book to the extent that it discusses options other than surgery but the author doesn't really offer much guidance among the various options.

Prostate sufferers should consider reading The Natural prostate Cure, by R. Mason. Mason seems to know much more about the topic than Fischer.

This is a straightforward and utterly sensible book about male plumbing written, in its author's words, "in basic, everyday, real-people language." Its author is a urologist and has a keen sense of his patients' insecurities, fears, and areas of ignorance. Men's magazines (in contrast to women's) have traditionally shorted men on information about their sexual organs. Gilbaugh writes that for years patients asked the same questions, and he wished that he could hand them (and their partners) a book that would supply them with what he feels is basic information that is really essential to health and peace of mind.

Gilbaugh has set things right in this book. He is compassionate regarding the worries that patients live with and bring to him. Problems of impotence,penis size, the varieties and causes of erectile dysfunction, vasectomy, the prostate, the bladder, anomalies of the penis and testicles, issues specific to aging, STDs and other dangers and problems are discussed. Gilbaugh addresses drug treatments and surgical procedures (including a section on "Avoiding the Knife"), cancers of the male reproductive organs, Viagra, AIDS, penis function, infections, dysfunction and more.

Gilbaugh has an easy approach and is informative but not particularly sciencey. He even quotes Winston Churchill on a urology topic. When asked by an impressionable young man for advice upon entering His Majesty's diplomatic service, the great man "pursed his lips for a moment, then replied. 'Young man, never pass up the opportunity to take a leak.'"

This is an informative, quick, and elegantly simple book. If you leave it around, the man of the house just might pick it up and read it from cover to cover, and that would be a very good thing.

In this wonderful and cogent summary, Moyad boils down the often confusing world of diet and supplements into the critical information needed by prostate cancer patients who want to eat the right thing. As the title suggests, the book's subject is protate problems and nutrition. However, the book is much more. It is actually an excellent reference on the use of nutrition and alternative procedures related to men's health. The author covers numerous supplements by describing what they are, what is known about them and based on available data if and how they should be used. He anticipates questions by providing information without excessive detail. The book is easy to read because of a logical layout with great use of type and color. I would recommend it to any man who has an interest in maintaining his health.

This book can be boiled down to these few words: Eat a balanced diet daily. If you are looking for much of anything else, you will not find it here. Waste of money.

You can find more information by visiting the web sites of major hospitals such as Mout Sinai, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Johns Hopkins etc. and then looking at the expertise of each doctor. Since I am in NJ those were the most convient yet my final choice was Hackensack University Medical center because of the procedure I chose and the skill of the surgeon which was equivalent to the one at Mount Sinai.
