Can't think of a title 4 out of 5 stars.

I wanted to think of a clever title but it escapes me. This book has been with me through the following years of age
16- menstrual cramps
24- pregnancy and childbirth
35- obesity and weight loss
49- menopause and the ever present private summers
55- aging gracefully
There is not an ailment or malady known to man that the Creator does not have a cure for! This is a good herb book albiet a little dated as one person commmented

This book is amazing. It is full of knowledge, to help one take care of the body. This should be the operating manual for the human body.

Wise Woman Herbal: Healing Wise looks at health and healing from a completely different perspective than any other resource I've ever consulted. Instead of looking at illness as something needing medication (as in western scientific medicine) or as the result of some sort of bodily imbalance (as in traditional eastern medicine), this book looks at illness as an opportunity.

At first, I have to admit that this concept sounded really strange to me. What sort of opportunity is suffering from Chronic Fatigue or having to deal with the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis? However, as I continued through the thorough and easy to understand explanations of the wise woman tradition, I began to understand more about the principles behind optimum nourishment.

Basically, this concept requires that we learn to take care of, accept, learn from and love ourselves at every point in our life process. To do so, brings about change and further opportunities to nourish our being. Thus, if we have an illness in the traditional sense, then we need to take the opportunity to learn about ourselves and fully nurture our being before we can ever hope to release the seemingly negatives aspects of the situation.

Wise Woman Herbal: Healing Wise has me intrigued with the wise woman tradition. I find the concept of a spiral healing pattern (as opposed to the linear pattern of western medicine and the circular pattern of traditional eastern medicine) fascinating. I also like that this book gave me a distinctly different way to think about my health. I am extremely eager to learn more about this tradition.

This book is great! It has very detailed information on how to grow and care for the herbs/plants it talks about in the book. It also has good info on how to care for the soil, basic plant bugs and how to keep them away, a few recipes for using the herbs in your food, and more.

a must-have for anyone who wants to grow an herb garden. written in a clear, easy-to-follow method, Tammi Hartung has an exceptional understanding of herbs and how they grow. i had my first herb garden planned and started by the time i was half-way through this book! a real keeper.

being a massage therapist and frequently using essentials oils, this is by far one of the best reference guides i have found. it is easy to follow, has great information, and educates the reader.

This book is GREAT! It goes into detail on each essential oil (i.e. origin, scent, flavor, use, warnings, description etc.) This book also goes into detail about various conditions of the body & skin and how the essential oil can remedy or help these situations (i.e. earache, headache, cold, flu, cough, acne, depression, anxiety, PMS, menopause etc.) It has A LOT of information contained in this book. This is definitely not the book you can sit down and read in one day. Very informative- A Must have for anyone interested in essential oils and aromatherapy.

Using leading-edge scientific research author Stephen Buhner reveals the little-known world of bacteria and their amazing ability to develop defenses to pharmaceutical antibiotics. Citing many of the world's leading bacteriologists he shows how bacteria will eventually develop immunity to most antibiotics - that the window of opportunity we have had as a species during the antibiotic era is almost over. He then comprehensively explores the most recent scientific research on the plant compounds that have been found in in vivo, in vitro and in human trial to be effective in treating antibiotic-resistant microorganisms. The book looks at the ten primary antibiotic-resistant disease organisms and those plants that have been found in clinical trial to be effective for their treatment. This book is a must have! It begins a long overdue exploration of more ecologically sustainable approaches to the treatment of disease with substances that are ecologically sustainable. The author's firm grasp of his subject matter and the comprehensive nature of his treatment of the subject make this a book that will continue to be useful for years to come. Highly recommended!

This book is an excellent staple to understanding the basic properties of herbs, their energy (cool or warm) and what systems are affected. The definitions of herbal properties were clear and concise (alteratives, diuretics, etc.) The section on diagnosis and treatment listed Yin and Yang conditions and how to apply Yin/Yang theory to herbal medicine. This was helpful in understanding the energy of a plant. Both Western and Oriental herbs are listed in seperate sections and is fairly extensive. Most dosage recommendations, however, are listed in tincture or infusion form with little information on application through "00" or "0" capsules. In the Treatments for Specific Ailments section, the ailments are generalized like menstrual cramps, colds, constipation, coughs and sore throats, etc. While a very good basic foundation it does not elaborate on the different symptoms, for example, of a cold. Do they need a respiratory relaxant or stimulant, a demulcent or an anticatarrhal? Many of the remedies are in infusion or decoction form which is not practical for someone to have dry herbs in bulk to prepare this recommended blend. Also for client compliancy it is not realistic. The last chapter on magnetic therapy, while highly informative, has no place in an herbal resource book. I found this book to be in an easy to read format and a valuable basic resource book for a begining to intermediate herbalist.
