AMAZING!!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have had many struggles with forgiveness, because of some pretty horrendous things that have happened to me. My heart was closed and shut down and I honestly couldn't see how that was going to change. This tape is a mind-blower. Very simple but very effective. It's making a dent on me in a very beautiful way, day by day. (I listen to it every night.) This woman's work is a great blessing. I have many of her audios.

My Cranky Gut Chills to This Meditation!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have suffered from spastic colon for at least six years. I get cramps and other unpleasant symptoms that often require medication. Since I started doing relaxation exercises and listening to this guided meditation my symptoms are down by half and I have much more energy. I find the words, voice and music pleasant, soothing and comforting. Evidently my digestive system feels the same way. Maybe this is a placebo effect, but if it is, who cares? Not me!!!

very informative !! 4 out of 5 stars.
17 of 17 people found this review helpful.

This book is unique in that unlike most books telling readers how great TM is, White gives the pros and cons of TM from every view point. The implication I get is that TM works for some people some of the time but not for everybody all the time. No doubt further research and probings are required. To me, everyone who wants to learn TM should read this book carefully.

Editorial Review:

Wildly popular in the 1970s and 80s, Transcendental Meditation (TM) continues to be one of the most accessible forms of Eastern spiritual practice in the West. But does it live up to its hype? In this objective exploration of TM, consciousness researcher John White looks at what’s billed as "a simple, natural, and effortless mental technique, practiced twenty minutes a day" and takes on its critics as well as its cheerleaders. White explains what it’s like to take a trip through the "mountains of mind," the purpose of mantras, whether the Maharishi is enlightened, and what science says about consciousness-raising. He also provides a glossary of TM terms and a "how-to" lesson so readers can try it themselves.

Editorial Review:

We are all involved in relationships. Indeed, we are all in relationship with everything and everyone, all of the time. We have a relationship with ourselves, with our family, with our environment, with our work, with each other. Everything that we know and experience about ourselves, we understand within the context created by our relationships.

For this reason, relationships are sacred—all relationships. And somewhere within the deepest reaches of our heart and soul, we know it. That is why we yearn so for relationships—and for relationships of meaning. It is also, no doubt, why we have such trouble with them. At some level, we must be very clear how much is at stake. Yet it is possible to have joyful relationships, and the extraordinary insights in the Conversations with God books show us how.

Neale Donald Walsch on Relationships is inspirational, humorous, and practical. Neale examines the patterns that hinder our ability to build and maintain successful relationships; teaches us to move beyond restrictive ways of relating; and explores different types of relationships—with God, with self, with others—demonstrating how they all affect and enhance each other.

If you want help in understanding relationships, here is a usable, powerful—and entertaining--key to opening the door to awareness.

A "How to" book that actually teaches How to meditate. 5 out of 5 stars.
16 of 16 people found this review helpful.

After purchasing 5 books on meditation this is the first book that actually teaches you how to meditate step by step. Most books on meditation tell you "what" to meditate on and seem to forget to tell you how to do it, this book tells you how to do it. It's very easy to read and it gives even the first time meditators the instructions needed to start meditating.
It starts with the very basic (but very effective) way of meditation and then progresses through the book to more in depth meditations covering many different ideas to meditate on.
I highly recommend this book to the beginners in meditation and also to the more experienced.

Editorial Review:

In a world seemingly moving at hyperspeed, it can be daunting to simply slow down — or stop — even briefly to try to make sense of things. Meditation has been proven to help. But exactly what is it? Why practice it? Which techniques are best? This popular guide answers these and many more questions for anyone who wants to begin — or is struggling to maintain — a meditation practice. Written by a Western Buddhist nun with solid experience in both the practice and teaching of meditation, How to Meditate contains a wealth of practical advice on a variety of authentic techniques, from what to do with the mind, to how to sit, to visualizations and other traditional practices. Best of all, McDonald's warm, encouraging approach is as close to the intimacy of private instruction as a book can be.

A Heroine 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Knowing nothing about Jackie Kennedy except what I knew about JFK from history courses, I was not as interested in her as I am after reading this book. Although not for those seeking a detailed biography of her life, it is inspiring and concise enough to prove that Jackie was truly a remarkable woman who lived a remarkable life. Perhaps the best parts of this book were the clear explanations of why Jackie might have responded to events as she did and the ending of each chapter with "What Jackie Taught Us" (which, although somewhat biased, gets the point across for those who get lost in the story rather than the lessons). After reading this, I had a basic understanding of Jackie's life and a clear understanding of who Jackie was: strong, determined, and resourceful while being a woman worried over her husband's infidelity, her mother's remarks, and the safety of her children. Flaherty is clearly a devoted fan of Jackie's - the book does come across as a bit biased; thus, if you're looking for the hardcore facts, don't read this just yet.

If you're looking for an introduction to Jackie, an inspiring tale of an American woman, or insight into the life of someone truly influential in America during the early '60s, this is the book for you.

Editorial Review:

She was a woman of confidence, focus, and passion, and it made her one of the world's most inspiring and influential women. She drew on a remarkable well of self-knowledge and a sense of purpose to cope with extraordinary public demands and overwhelming private difficulties.

What Jackie Taught Us offers Jackie's lessons about living life with poise, grace, and zest-including wisdom about image and style, courage and vision, men, marriage, motherhood, and motivation-and how to apply those lessons to the way each one of us lives.

breathless 2 out of 5 stars.

This CD was recommended to me and I have heard good things about Dr. Weil, but I have to say the CD's were a let down. The lecture was too long and i thought it would have been better to simply be text. The actual breathing exercises were not that inspiring and quite short. Although it was instructional to go through the breathing exercises along with the CD it would have been better if that part was expanded.

Editorial Review:

Listeners learn how meditation can actually unify the mind and body’s many related functions – to help them start enjoying the best health of their lives. Includes four complete step-by-step meditations to get started.

While My Castle was Burning, I was Busy Learning....... 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I am sure many of you out there do not remember the great Spiritual War of 1988. It was fought between the Seers (who wanted to free men's consciousness) and the Warlocks (who wanted to confine it). A terrible Warlord named Rohbahr Sedivekkian and his troops were burning down towns and lands throughout the area and were fast approaching my castle. My spirit guides were urging me to leave immediately for I had little time. All I was able to save were bottles of coveted brandy, an oil painting of George Washington and this book of insights.

Well, as you would expect, I made it to safety, but the battle still goes on. Anyway, I drank the brandy, donated the portait of Washington to some museum, but I kept the book. This gives you some indication of Metamorpho's high-minded value system. Well, maybe? Just a bit?

This book has been with me for a long time, but it is so valuable in many respects. While alot of the quotes contained herein may seem simple to some, they always retain the ability to change as your conciousness expands. There are depths and levels here to explore. But what is interesting is that many of these sayings beg for an introspection of the self. There are grains and kernals of truth sprinkled about, but what you get from it or don't get, really relies upon yourself.

You begin to look at yourself and the world differently and you come away with new eyes that are able to see more clearly then before. The difficulties and trials of life don't seem to be as insurmountable as we think them to be. You begin to develop a new understanding and outlook by going within, and the evolution and growth from these quotes can be very helpful. As you read some of these you get the feeling that you are part of the collective energy of the universe and that, indeed, great power resides within each and every one of us.

The following are some examples of the quotes:

"I do not expect anything from others,
So their actions cannot be in opposition to mine".

"Man cannot discover new oceans,
until he has the courage to lose sight of the shore".

"Life is either a daring adventure
or nothing".

"Change is never a loss -
it is change only".

Those are just a few. Alot of these lead you to a more peaceful, calm thought. Alot of them open up avenues that you maybe never considered or always assumed closed. But, it is the positive nature of these affirmations which I am so taken with. It is a journey of evolvement and seeking answers below the surface. It says to hold a problem in your mind, open this book to any page and there will be your answer. In many ways, this is true. But, as I said, what you get from it is totally up to you.

Now, I must get back to writing my next lecture. Oh, and about Rohbahr Sedivekkian? Well, after much carnage, he achieved his evil goal. But, in the end, the joke was on him. Suzabella, the witch of the shore, zapped all his dignity and power and now he is but a pawn piece on the great big chessboard of life. Ah, the boomerang effect of the Universe. Dontcha love it?

To everything, there is a season -- Metamorpho ;)
