I have learned that it's fine to think about myself first, even during sex. This book freed us from the specter of uneven sexual desire, and battles about oral sex. I also recommend an amazing book in this topic I Love You. Now What?: Falling in Love is a Mystery, Keeping It Isn't

I didn't read the book but bought it for my man and can I just say, he went from a man who needed some guidance to a whiz, holy cow. He read the entire book, and the first time he performed oral on me after reading the book was amazing. I am more than pleased. He did tell me about the exercises you should be doing which sounded over the top to me. I mean, h*ll, I wouldn't expect him to do all these mouth exercises regularly, jeez. I think the book is well worth the money. Take it from a woman who couldn't "get there" in 20 mins of him trying to please. To getting then and then some in 5 mins!

I thought the book was great. I like having one comprehensive "go-to" for questions that come up in the confusing area of pleasure when kids, jobs, husband all seem to be at odds with it! I really enjoyed the chapters that focused on the emotional and relationship health side of things. The information about sexual empowerment was also a must for anyone who feels as though breast-feeding and exhaustion have brought this side of your life to an end. An excellent resource.

So many things are covered in this book. It has something for everyone who is looking for a better sex life. There are literally dozens of new ideas and facts that you will walk away with, no matter what your situation is. I happen to be a single gal and have found the book to be really useful so far in understanding the "female brain." However I have also shared it with my best friends who are married/committed and they enjoy what they've learned too. Here are some highlights we've liked. (And PS-if you are looking for something fun to do with your girlfriends, this book and some vino are all you need for a great night. It's like a saucy book club.)

--Info about the body, specifically which hormones and other chemicals really matter. How your life and aging can screw them up.
--All about vibrators, "self-simulation" and other toys! Fantastic guide!
--Tips for loving your body more as it is, instead of trying to look like a model. Taking your partner's compliments more seriously, too.
--How to get what you want in bed without being critical of your partner. She talks a lot about how men and women are different in their needs and it's nobody's fault, you just have to find a way to work through it. Compromise!

It's a good book and what's more fun than reading about sex?

I was given this book by someone with the most sincere intentions...

Opening it was was giddy.. i was in my car and almost crashed trying to read of new positions and take my sex life to the next level...

I'm not sure what pulled the other reviews in and why they are so excited about this book because it was one HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Half this stuff is obvious... the other half is really ridiculous. I'm assuming the target audience is for women who are pretending to be a lesbian - or maybe those who want to sample it out bc their husband is interested in a 3some...

for the hardcore lesbian who has had a time rolling around in teh sack - this isnt the book for you. Been there done that... its not going to take you to the next level.. at all. You're imagination is alot better than this book. Its for amateurs and belongs in a photography book. Only positive is the pictures are beautiful in an artistic kind of way. Who needs art when she is trying to get a girl sprung?

Sorry, but I'm the author of this book, and they wouldn't print this note unless I gave the book a star rating.

We've been wrestling with Amazon for the past year to have the current 5th edition of the GUIDE TO GETTING IT ON come up first when shoppers do a search. It still doesn't. Instead, the 3rd edition from 2001 comes up. Heck, the German edition comes up before the current 5th edition!

I pride myself on making sure that you get the absolute latest information, and I put more work into each new edition than a lot of authors put into an entire new book. You are selling yourself short if you read anything other than the current 5th edition, which is light years better than the 4th edition.

You might ask, what's changed about sex? There's a tremendous amount of new information about human sexuality that is coming out all of the time. We are constantly finding out that we've been wrong about certain things, plus there's new research findings to analyze and integrate. At any given time, I've got a "must read" stack of new publications about sexuality that is at least three feet high--from the latest in the Journal of Sexual Medicine to learning about new sex slang.

If you are reading The Guide, I hope you'll make sure it is the latest edition--which for now is the 5th with a publication date of 2006. We did an updated 2nd printing of this edition in June of 2007.

I have used many of the tricks and tips enumerated in this book, and have found each of them to be fun and, for the most part, useful. The fact that it is a couple's guide is good, because both my significant other and I benefited from the advice. Another book we enjoyed, which is chocked full of information, is The Sensuous Couple's (Flip Over) Guide to Seismic Oral Sex. One side is all you need to know about cunnilingus. Flip it over and the other side is all you need to know about fellatio. Female orgasm is a subject that cannot be discussed too often, as far as I'm concerned. Naughty Tricks certainly helped in that area. Here is another book that gives a simple technique that enables women to reach orgasm during intercourse: Five Minutes to Orgasm Every Time You Make Love: Female Orgasm Made Simple. Buy one or all of these books, and you will be fully informed on sex for the sensuous couple.
