Pleasing color sketches and simple diagrams adorn the pages of Satisfaction: The Art of the Female Orgasm by famed Sex and the City actor Kim Cattrall and her husband, jazz musician Mark Levinson. The fact that Cattrall's character on the show, Samantha Jones, is a sexual giantess is likely to bump up sales a notch for this attractive, children's-size book, but nevertheless it's a very worthwhile read.Simple concepts--open communication, trust, love, and a consistent interest in pleasing one another--are the ingredients for an enriching and fulfilling sex life that can bring two people ever closer, according to the text. The facts speak for themselves: when pressed, women will confess in droves that they are sexually frustrated. It's tricky to communicate one's carnal desires to one's lover, yet both parties must be open to this type of ongoing discussion for the formula to work. Meanwhile, a little education for men can go a long way. The concepts are basic--anyone who isn't a virgin probably knows them. But the rub lies in the consistency, the selflessness, and the patience required of the man. Cattrall and Levinson ask their male readers how they'd feel if they experienced some physical pleasure during lovemaking but never got to climax; they would likely get frustrated after a while. So an abiding devotion to pleasing the woman is a basic assumption throughout, and one that isn't commonly pointed out in such an open way elsewhere. Some readers may think Cattrall and Levinson's approach offers nothing new or exciting, but this honest reminder of what it takes to be a sensitive and satisfying lover is just what the doctor ordered. --Teri Kieffer

Good News for Lovers Who've Lost the Magic 5 out of 5 stars.

For decades I have recommended the "How to Satisfy a Woman" book to men and women whose marriages are floundering and as a result it has made me a hero. The book saved many families. If mates were not close, they got closer. If they were considering divorce, they made a quick "U" turn and fell in love with one another again... joyfully!

The 'war between the sexes has been artificially created. It need not be. It came about as a result of men (and women) who have been physically altered as children with knives on the most sensitive parts of their bodies. Who can function well when he or she has lost a good deal of their erotic tissue? For more information on this important subject, see my book, "The Rape of Innocence : Female Genital Mutilation in the USA". It discusses both male and female surgical alteration in the USA.

I call the effect Hayden's book has, powerful. Yes, there's a goofy, 'apologetic' girl talk tone in it, but sex is not an easy subject to talk about -- it's scary for women to talk to men about their sexuality and i congratulate her for sharing her wisdom despite her obvious embarrassment.

In this age, when the majority of the men in our country have been circumcised and have lost the soft mucosal tissue, the prepuce, that allows them to naturally be in synch with a woman, it's invaluable to read this little book. It helps us all learn a different way of moving than the mechanical 'in and out' that chafes and apparently doesn't work for a lot of American women.

I talk with men daily who express grief due to having been sexually altered and the difficulties they have maintaining happy sexual relationships with women. So another book i recommend is "The Joy of Uncircumcising" by Jim Bigelow. The good news is, men can regain what they lost.

And the other good bit of news is that they can learn "How to Satisfy a Woman" even now. They can use what they have as if they have it all, even before they grow their skin back.

There's a reason why Europeans have a reputation for being great lovers -- they simply were not altered with knives -- they have, luckily for then, retained all their vital moving parts.

Considering there are books out there about how to give better oral sex, it's not surprising there'd be books about the other end. This one's from the publishers who produced the anal guide for women, but this one is for the guys, both the giver and the receiver. For that reason, this one isn't for the girls and caters exclusively to the gay and bisexual man. The frustrating taboo of anal sex that remains very much alive in the gay community is knocked down in this book, probably by necessity and the literally life-saving information it offers. Anything any guy can think of in giving or getting is here: health precautions, preparation, muscle exercises and techniques intended to make the probing experience more pleasureable. An important other section of this book is that it strongly encourages self-exploration before trying it for the first time as part of a duo (or trio, or so on). The tips on self-exploration are so effective that they may actually help a guy decide if man-to-man anal penetration is or isn't for him. The "how-to's" aside, the book is also a tremendous resource guide and points to websites for health, toys and so on to gain further knowledge. Considering the life-and-death aspects of man-to-man anal sex, this book is far too important to be tossed aside for not being written well (which it is), because of religious dogma or for whatever other reason. It is an essential companion guide that, no, won't make you "exerpienced" by reading it or "promote" this most intimate of sexual interaction as something necessary for a fully satisfying gay sex life. More than that, it may make the experience even more enjoyable for those already experiencing it.

This book is as informative as it gets in terms of helping us men far as stamina in the bedroom goes. Nothing against Viagara or Cialas, but i think if you follow the guidelines in this book you will find that it is not necessary to take those pills. I haven't even read through half of this book and i'm quite impressed already. I highly recommend it for the guys who are in their mid 30's and up.

What Ms Schwartz can and can not help you with. 4 out of 5 stars.

Though Daylle is ill qualified to instruct anyone in matters of enduring love, she is an undisputed expert in matters of lust. If your relationship is lacking in the `vitamins and minerals' of a healthy lifelong relationship, look elsewhere. But if you're in a solid marriage and want to help your wife learn how to enjoy `dessert' (before someone else does), look no further. The heart of what Ms. Schwartz shares in this book is two-fold and true to the title she gave it. She does a masterful job of showing men how women wish to be treated non-sexually and then goes where few have gone in spelling out the nuts and bolts of how to help your women enjoy her sexuality in the same way you do. What's the difference? You've been orgasmic since puberty and your wife want's to start soon. Wise is the man who not only learns what Daylle is teaching in this book, but learns it in the order that she teaches it.

I love this book. It is the best book on how to fish in the dating pond. I read it. Used the techniques and had three dates in four days. His methods are sound and yes they work. Your mate will be sexy and desire you more than she did before you read this book. Love By Leo Buscaglia is also excellent.

Although much of the material in this book hasn't changed since the book was written, many of it has. The reader must skillfully distinguish what was good advice for the '80s and what will not work today. The general overview on sexual techniques is well-written and applicable but does not go into as much detail to actually succeed in the tasks. This is another one of those books that says "all you have to do is this" without really telling you how to do it but is a good start at knowing what other topics you may need to find other books in specific subject areas about.

Unlike alot of How to's for the bedroom this book reads like a conversation over coffee and a donut. To say the least, Tristan Taormino writes about what she knows, SEX.

She began her career in sex education at a sex-toy shop in NYC. She honestly tells you all the sexual anthropology she witnessed and then some.

I did find the book refreshing in style and candor. It doesn't read like an ABC123 this is how you do it book, but somewhat like a personal experience from Ms. Taorminos' mouth to your ear. And let me just warn you now, if you dislike harsh slang maybe you should try a more clinical book.

This book covers all the basics any other sex book would but then she covers it with a little kink.

For the most part, this book did a great job with sex tools and toys. Everything you ever wanted to know but couldn't drag yourself into one of those stores to find out is covered. Once you've read the Sex tools and toys chapter of her book you most decidedly want to check out the goods in person just to see if they really exist.

This book also does a great job of demystifing the female G-Spot, female ejaculation, and anal sex. In very plan language with seemingly life experienced knowlege Ms. Taormino tells you like it is.

I did enjoy many sections of this book but it did just skim some topics. I also felt this was a book for boys who like girls and girls who like girls but fell short of addressing girls who like boys.

Over all the book had some great places in it and great ideas but was decidely toned down from Ms. Taormino's usual Village Voice column and therefore could have been much better.

Worth buying if your interested in tools, toys, and the awsome resource guide.

Gross Insensitivity of Hefner's Girl Friends 5 out of 5 stars.

In 1974, I purchased Frank Brady's HEFNER (AN UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY). I was surprised because the author didn't offer any exclusive information - the book included nothing new or unknown. However, the author did report that Hefner was deeply in love and committed to Barbie Benton who he would marry soon. Well, he was wrong about that. Bottom line: There was nothing Brady's "unauthorized" biography that seemed worthy of being deemed unauthorized.

When I was reading HEF'S LITTLE BLACK BOOK, I was once again taken by surprise. There was no new information - everything in the book was well known. Instead of poor writing, I've got to conclude that Hefner has no sexual secrets. Yet, he does write of secret sexual relationships, but he won't share because these concern others. It is not himself he is protecting. Unlike Nixon, Hefner destroyed the tapes by tossing them into the Pacific Ocean. I wonder: Is this disposal contrary to EPA regulations? Can Hefner be fined? Shall we hire the Titanic team to recover the tapes?

One big inference emerged from reading: the Barbie Benton and Karen Christy conflict. Like everything else in this autobiography, this is a well known urban tale. Hefner was sleeping with both of these women with whom he claimed to dearly love. Reading between the lines, the authors suggest that Barbie and Karen were grossly insensitive to Hefner's sexual needs. He needed both of them, but neither could accept sharing him with another woman. Hefner was emotionally devastated, but eventually recovered. Today, Hefner has finally found a girlfriend who is willing to share him with two other women. If Barbie was willing to regularly share him with others, I wonder if they would be married today?

I don't know if this little book was worth the money to read. Nevertheless, I found it to be a hoot.

This is a very interesting book with an equally interesting title but the excitement stops right there. There were no secrets nor any extraordinary information or techniques that I haven't read in countless other books. What I found strange in this book, that supposedly was intended for men, was an over abundance of unnecessary lesbian advocacy and grand standing. The over generalization of men as bumbling, insensitive and unknowledgeable became very annoying early in this book. While this book does deliver basic knowledge and a necessary biology refresher, I wouldn't recommend it. The author is obviously condescending to its target audience, for reasons unknown but I do suspect that the authors of this book are secretly hoping that your wife/girl friend pick up this book and discover how inept that you are to a "sweet lesbian lover".
