Simply extraordinary for Air Dry Clay. 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Everything that could have been said about this stunning little book has pretty much been said, however I felt so compelled to write something positive about this book. I work with all three contemporary clays, Metal clay, Polymer Clay and Air Dry clay. The projects in this book are based on Air Dry clay and whilst it is a type of Polymer clay it should not be confused with Polymer Clay such as Fimo and Premo. No baking required. Makins Air Dry clay is my choice of clays, and I could not wait to sit down to create some of the magnificent flower creations. It is beautifully photographed and whilst the written text occassionally falls short, the step by step photos or drawings more than make up for it. Thank you Yukiko for this wonderful book, your exquisite talent in capturing the essence of the flowers is remarkable.

Editorial Review:

This elegant craft book’s stunning clay creations were inspired by the flowers of Hawaii and beyond. Using its easy-to-follow instructions, readers will learn how to create realistic orchids, plumeria, hibiscus, gerbera daisies, and other flowers as well as charming themed pieces for Easter, Halloween, Christmas, weddings, and other special occasions. Clay flowers make fantastic party favors, homemade holiday gifts, elegant centerpieces, or everlasting bouquets. With gorgeous color photos and informative illustraions throughout, Clay Art for All Seasons guides readers step-by-step through the creative process, enabling them to enjoy the everlasting beauty of this delicate and highly decorative art form.

This book is written with a sense of humor. It has lots of ideas, tips, recipes, and facts; it even has poetry. There are no patterns but plenty of ideas and pictures (to copy). This book is a delight!

I recommend this book if you are into Halloween like me. Not only is there unique pumpkin ideas, there are witty educational tidbits on each theme pumpkin. He tells you what tools to use and even how to make fake blood..... and don't forget the proper way to dispose of your pumpkin carcass.

Editorial Review:

Pumpkins are supposed to be scary!

Based on his popular and addictive website ExtremePumpkins.com, Tom Nardone has created a full-color guide to pumpkin carving that's truly frightening. Featuring the website's signature Puking Pumpkin, and spanning everything from Drowning Pumpkin, Crime Scene Pumpkin, and Cannibal Pumpkin to Electrocuted Pumpkin and other never-before-seen designs, this gleefully gory guide is nothing short of a manifesto to take back Halloween from the cheerful, the cutesy, and the parent-sanctioned. For the egg-throwing, toilet tissue-streaming, window-soaping teenager in all of us, finally- a whole new way to celebrate October 31.

The Best of Country Living 4 out of 5 stars.
21 of 21 people found this review helpful.

Thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas edition of the best of Country Living. Photos are beautiful, excellent layout. More about inspiring ideas rather than how-tos which is exactly what I look for so this was a perfect choice for me but perhaps not for the crafter. If you like the magazine, you'll love the book.

Editorial Review:

Turn every nook and cranny of the house into a sparkling holiday wonderland! Country Living has created a delightful volume filled with hundreds of ideas for creating Christmas beauty everywhere—and it begins with the moment the first boxes of cherished ornaments come out. Every page is breathtaking, with unique color schemes that vary from the traditional red and green; fabulous tree-toppers; and exceptional ornaments, from paper dolls to leather baby shoes. Wreaths and garlands bedeck bed frames, doorknobs, and even hang from chandeliers. There are mantelpiece and tabletop displays with a contingent of Santa figurines, dazzling table and buffet settings, recipes such as chocolate snowflakes, and even some simple crafts—including a silvery cone of jingle bells embellished with a beautifully tied bow.

It Could Have Been So Much Better 2 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

First off, let me point out that I have high standards when it comes to pagan books. I expect for my faith to be presented to the general public as something that should be taken seriously, not poked fun at. I realize that these may be high expectations, but nonetheless... The first chapter was funny to me because although I could understand where Dorothy was coming from in her explanation of the history of how Yule came to be I could almost hear the right-wing Christians raging on their pews. It was the way she explained it that seemed a bit of a stretch. On the other hand, I liked the way she presented the symbols of the season and where they originated. There were some good prayers. Also helpful to me were the recipes for the Yule Log Rolls and how to make a real Yule Log. Other than that I decided against purchasing this book. I'm hoping to find a concise book on Yule that digs deeper into the history and gives me a clearer picture of how people practiced Yule. (A NOTE TO EDITORS: If you are expecting to sell more pagan themed books of this kind, you need to start including full-color photos. If I am going to pay money for a book like this I want to see photos that go along with the recipes-what would a typical Yule table from 2006 look like for example?- and photos that go along with the craft projects. You cannot expect people to try the craft projects without knowing what they will look like.) This book is helpful for beginner pagans or nonpagans who just want a look at some fun history facts.

Step by Step to the Perfect Card 4 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This is great for ideas on handmaking cards. I love the idea of something so simple handmade, but the authors have a step by step guide to how to make all kinds of cards. The templates are even included! It has all the sketchings, diagrams, and measurements for the perfect card. The best part about it is, when you have your card, you can't believe you actually made something so beautiful!!
I give it four stars only because it take time to do the cards, and frankly, I am lazy.
