Ably edited by Karen Coumbe (Equine Veterinarian, Bell Equine Clinic, Kent, United Kingdom) the Equine Veterinary Nursing Manual is a comprehensive reference, published for the British Equine Veterinary Association but accessible to anyone with a keen interest in the medical care and treatment of horses. Various chapters cover such issues as basic equine management, anatomy, physiology, genetics, reproduction, fluid therapy, medical and foal nursing, orthopedic nursing, anaesthesia and much more. Black-and-white sketches, photographs, and detailed tables add to the detailed wealth of scholarly information in this first-rate reference for aspiring and practicing horse doctors. A thorough and thoughtful medical text, the Equine Veterinary Nursing Manual is a strongly recommended addition to academic, professional, and personal equine veterinary medicine reference collections.
Editorial Review:
This definitive textbook for equine veterinary nurses will be invaluable to all those involved in the care and management of sick horses. Endorsed by the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA), this book covers the syllabus for the new Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons equine veterinary nursing certificate. Key subjects include: medical and surgical equine nursing; equine stud medicine; basic equine management, and the theory underpinning all these and other important topics.
The book also includes innovative chapters on nutrition, imaging, anatomy and physiology. The subject matter is presented in a clear and easily assimilated format, appropriate for all involved in equine nursing. The approach throughout is practical and the book is laid out in a user-friendly manner with copious diagrams and photographs.
