Just Like it says 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a good book for wanting to do fast and easy quilts. I will be trying a few myself.

Great booklet 5 out of 5 stars.

I am an advanced quilter and found this booklet to be really good. First, I love the fact that the projects are quick and easy without looking it. Second, I like the two alternate color options at the end of each pattern. Although there are only three patterns in the book there are endless possibilities. This is the book for those of us that want a quick but original quilt. These patterns let today's great fabrics showcase themselves. I have already made one and have plans for three more.

Editorial Review:

Good things come in threes!

* Three super-easy quilts, each in three sizes, with three fabric styles to choose from

* One supply list makes all three quilts

Three is a magic number...especially in this easy-to-use book that features three fast, fun quilts! Three easy designs to choose from, three sizes (wall hanging, twin, or queen), three vibrant color schemes, three quick ways to secure the quilt layers together, and three simple techniques for binding and finishing. One, two, three! Perfect for beginners, with clear instructions and photos that make even first projects easy as A, B, C. Perfect for more experienced quilters, too, with patterns that go together as simple as do, re, mi!

Great book for beginning quilter 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I thought I knew a lot about home sewing since I've been doing that for over 35 years but I was always afraid to try quilting. I found this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try quilting, but unsure quite where to start. The instructions are great and easy to follow. The text is well-written and easy to understand and the photos/drawings used for examples are great. The book gives you a great variety of starter projects to choose from, along with fabric and design suggestions . I'm proud to say I'm nearly finished with my first project from the book and I can't wait to try my next one.

Editorial Review:

Alex Anderson, host of HGTV's Simply Quilts, makes quilting easy and appealing for first-time quilters. In this slim volume, Anderson explains about tools (from the rotary cutter to the iron to the sewing machine), fabric selection and preparation, and basic techniques needed to begin quilting. She then offers simple but good-looking projects to utilize your newfound skills. Once you've learned the preliminaries of cutting, pinning, stitching, pressing, and finishing, you'll be ready to make any (or all) of the six quilts in the book: Rail Fence, Nine Patch, Log Cabin, Friendship Star, Flying Geese, or Sampler.

Machine Quilting with Alex Anderson 5 out of 5 stars.
8 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I loved this book. It was simple to read and apply the directions. I am a machine quilter and much of what was offered I was already familiar with, but my familiarity was gained through much trial and error. I would have saved myself a lot of time to have this book at the start of my efforts in machine quilting. The photos are very clear, the projects are way simple and I learned some new tricks, such as the way to make a "light" table by stretching a piece of Plexiglass over two chairs with a light underneath. I especially like how Alex freely admitted that she was afraid of machine quilting but finally just did it. So many quilters I know are in her old shoes! Thank you, Alex!

Editorial Review:

Everyone loves Alex Anderson, a true quilting celebrity. And her new book on machine quilting makes everyone want to get started! new quilter 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I made my first three quilts as baby gifts from this book. Instructions are clear and very easy and end product looks heirloom.

Wow! Best Baby Quilting Book EVER! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I am shocked by the review just before mine that gave this book 1 star. Before buying any craft/sewing book I check it out of my library to decide if I really will use it. Most of them I decide I don't need in my own library. However, this one was on my "must buy" list right away. Baby Quilts With Love is not only my favorite baby quilting book, but my favorite quilting book I own. Not only does she spend a small part of the book explaining the essentials, her quilts are absolutely gorgeous.

These quilts are not only baby quilts, but would be perfect to hang on your wall. The colors are fresh and modern, and the designs are beautiful. I bought this to make some baby quilts, but truthfully any quilts I make from it are going to be turned into wall hangings. They are that pretty.

Buy this book! You won't be disappointed. However, if you like quilts in browns and grays, or quilts in childish hard-to-look at primary colors (like they walked straight out of the Sesame Street section of Walmart), or soft pastel quilts that you would only give to a little baby girl who will outgrown it in a few years, you might not want this book. But if you want to make quilts that you or your loved ones will cherish and will not outgrow, then this is the quilting book for you.

Editorial Review:

• Twelve fresh, fun crib-size designs
• Alex Anderson is a quilting superstar

Even the most jaded baby will love a quilt from Alex Anderson. Clear directions plus illustrations and an expanded basics section put beginners at ease, and the gorgeous designs appeal to quilters at every level. Pastels, brights, and primaries, bees, baskets, and beaches—quilters and babies will be united in their delight at these adorable new designs.

Excellant instruction on hand quilting. 5 out of 5 stars.
92 of 92 people found this review helpful.

This is probably the best book I have found that gives instruction for hand quilting. The color pictures give very explicit instruction for both right and left handed people. I would recommend this to anyone interested in hand quilting, whether a beginner or a long time quilter. Alex Anderson is one of the best teachers and supporters of quilting. She does an excellant job with her program " Simply Quilts". I would recommend all her books.

I bought this book based on the reviews and I'm very happy with my purchase. The great photos show very specific hand positioning of different quilting techniques for both left and right handed quilters.
I'll be adding more of her books to my collection.

not all you see is paper pieced 4 out of 5 stars.
88 of 91 people found this review helpful.

This is a wonderful book of beautiful projects. However. not all of the blocks are paper pieced. There are some difficult curved seams and a crazy pieced block that are not for the beginner. Also the template on page 44 is too large for the dimensions noted in the directions for finishing the remainder of the basket block. The triangle must be reduced to fit the remainder of the dimensions. I am in the process of finishing the sampler on page 45. Although not extremely difficult, this is not a paper piecing book for the beginner. The patterns are beautiful and except for the problem that I found trying to complete the basket blocks for the sampler, the directions are clear. I will probably make another one of the projects. Her color choices are exquisite.

Editorial Review:

Learn to paper piece with everyone's favorite quilter! Machine piecing on paper foundations guarantees virtually perfect results. Here are six terrific paper-piecing projects, including five traditional blocks and a sampler quilt. Readers will learn basic methods of working from the center of the block out, and from one side to the other-as well as find practical advice for working with challenging fabrics like flannel and silk. Anderson also demonstrates when to paper piece, when not to, and how to head off potential problems as one goes. Join America's favorite quiltmaker and learn quick and easy paper piecing for a fun, rewarding quiltmaking experience!
