Great Sreies of Books 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

My daughter is nine years old and has been enjoying all the American Girl books since she was seven. We have purchased several sets from Amazon and only one set has had an issue (got two of one book). The books are great for girls that age and are not only fun for them to read but educational as well. I would reccomend them to anyone with a girl age 7-10.

An American Girl (Samantha) 5 out of 5 stars.

"An American Girl"
"Samantha"

This is a series!!! I have had these books for about 5 years! I love them!! I have read them over and over again!!!
It was cool because the first time I read them what ever happened in the book happened to me! It was kind of weird!! But fun!!
I also loved it because my name is Samantha and I felt like I was in the book! It was the most fun I have ever had reading a book!
I would recommend these books to EVERYONE! Because they are so cool and they seem really real! You don't have to read the Samantha ones you can read all different kinds of girls like Melissa and there is just a whole bunch of stories!
Thanks for reading my review!

Interesting 4 out of 5 stars.
6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This was a fairly good book, revealing much about Sasha's origins and Tigerstar's time in ShadowClan. Sasha is much more meek than how she is portrayed in the TNP series, and her feelings for Tigerstar and her reasonings for wanting to be with him are explained. The story is told from her vantage point, up to the end where we are left waiting for the next book. It is admittedly overshadowed by the great Eclipse, (properly named) which has brought back Warriors fans everywhere, but the art is good, and I am left anticipating the next book, which promises even more. The book is slightly overpriced for one of it's size, and the fact that it is not an actual novel, but I do recommend that you read this one.

Editorial Review:

Sasha has everything she wants: kind housefolk who take care of her during the day and the freedom to explore the woods beyond Twolegplace at night. But when Sasha is forced to leave her home, she must forge a solitary new life in the forest. Life on her own is exciting at first but quickly gets lonely. When Sasha meets Tigerstar, leader of ShadowClan, she wonders whether she would be better off joining the ranks of his forest Clan. But Tigerstar has many secrets, and Sasha must decide whether she can trust him.

Even for Young Adults! 4 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Books like this - Wizardology, Dragonology, The Wandmaker's Guidebook, and other "ology" books are the very thing a young person just starting to learn about magick and paganism needs to get started. Even a young adult (age 16-24) who is just getting their first lessons could benefit from books like these. They are very practical and well-written - much too well-written to be simply dismissed as books only suitable for children. I recommend all the books in this series to kids and adults alike!!

NANCY DREW BOOKS BRING ME BACK TO THE 1950'S. I'VE INTRODUCED MY DAUGHTERS AND NOW MY OLDER GRANDAUGHTER. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO SHOW MY GRANDAUGHTER WHAT HER GRANDMOTHER DELIGHTED IN SO-O-O LONG AGO.

Timeless Nancy Drew 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Considering that the Nancy Drew series is 78 years old, I would say that it has stood the test of time. If you're not into the original series from 1930-1979 (56 books in all), there have been many updates and additional series spawned from this character. You may think old when you see these books, but the stories are great, there's always a little edge of danger, cliffhangers on each chapter and it shows young ladies a strong, independent character with drive and smarts. Plus, there's just a great vibe you get from handling the slim hardcover novels and looking the painted illustrations on the cover.

Editorial Review:

Teen sleuth Nancy Drew has been solving mysteries and delighting fans for over 60 years. You won't believe her daring escapades and narrow escapes.

What better way to introduce a girl to Nancy Drew then with the first 6 titles published in the series? This starter set includes; The Secret of the Old Clock, The Hidden Staircase, The Bungalow Mystery, The Mystery at Lilac Inn, The Secret of Shadow Ranch, The Secret of Red Gate Farm -- all at a great price.

First Novel I ever read 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I started this series in 4th grade. I'm 24 now and I have read it over again about 4 times. This book was amazing when I was a child, and it still is. Brian Jacques does a fantastic job with his characters and scenery. The poems/riddles are great. The best of the series: Mattimeo. (3rd book)

Redwall (Tale of Redwall)Suitable for middle school youth. Good narrative with lots of action and imagination.

Beware 4 out of 5 stars.

Redwall is a great story about animals trying to defend themselves from the evil ones, but I would be careful who I recommend it to. I enjoyed most of it, with the exception of some of the rough scenes wherein someone dies or is tortured. The author doesn't make a great deal of it, yet they are descriptive and perhaps too much for younger readers, or listeners... an adult can handle it fine.

A great book 5 out of 5 stars.

Winter of the Ice Wizard is a great Magic Tree House book. It begins when Jack and Annie get a note from Merlin. They end up with Teddy and Kathleen at the castle of the Ice Wizard. There, they learn that he wrote the note and had kidnapped Merlin and Morgan. In order to save them, they have to find the Ice Wizard's eye. They recieve directions to go to the Hollow Hill, and they do, in the ice Wizard's sleigh. They find the eye and give it to the Wizard. He is sad and mad because they eye doesn't work. Then Teddy and Kathleen bring in the swan maiden, the Wizard's sister, and she tells him that she will forgive him. Then his eye works. They are given back Merlin and Morgan, and the mission is over.

I think that this is a great book. Winter of the Ice Wizard is my favorite Magic Tree House book!

Editorial Review:

JACK AND ANNIE, joined by Teddy and Kathleen (from earlier books), travel in the Magic Tree House to a land of snow where the Ice Wizard has captured Morgan and Merlin. The four friends must find the Ice Wizard’s missing eye . . . or is it really his heart that is missing?

Very nice edition to have 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This review is only about the `50th anniversary edition' and not about the master work of J.R.R.Tolkien.

I don't see any issues with the quality of the book. Like few other reviewers mentioned, the folded map is glued together and you need to take little care while viewing it for the first time without damage. That is not an issue or a reason to give this excellent edition a poor rating. Most of the deluxe editions won't be friendly to read due to unusual size and weight. People buy them because they adore the content and feel proud to have them in their bookshelves. I find this book very comfortable to read also. The paper quality is awesome, very smooth and silky and gives a very nice feeling when you read.

The UK edition of this book from Harper Collins appears to be of superior quality but the price is 150% more then this US edition. I personally like the US edition more due to the more flexible paper used which enables a better reading. Also UK edition don't' come with maps and also no red color font used.

If you want to experience reading `Lord of the Rings' never like before, then don't think again, go for this edition even if you already have other editions with you.

Editorial Review:

The Fellowship of the Ring, part one of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, first reached these shores on October 21, 1954, arriving, as C. S. Lewis proclaimed, "like lightning from a clear sky." Fifty years and nearly one hundred million American readers later comes a beautiful new one-volume collector's edition befitting the stature of this crown jewel of our list. With a text fully corrected under the supervision of Christopher Tolkien to meet the author's exacting wishes, two large-format fold-out maps, a ribbon placemarker, gilded page edges, a color insert depicting Tolkien's own paintings of the Book of Mazarbul and exceptionally elegant and sturdy overall packaging housed within an attractive slipcase, this edition is the finest we've ever produced.

a great ending to a wonderful series 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The book I am reviewing is The End by Lemony Snicket. The End is a fantasy fiction book.

This book is about three children who are trying to escape from their evil cousin. The names of these children are violet, Klaus, and Sunny. The children land on a mysterious island with very interesting people. These people are led by a secretly evil leader named Ishmael. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are kicked of the island only to find their evil cousin waiting for them. This is the beginning of the Baudelaires end.

I personally loved this book. This book is great for people who love adventure and suspense.

Editorial Review:

Dear Reader,

You are presumably looking at the back of this book, or the end of the end. The end of the end is the best place to begin the end, because if you read the end from the beginning of the beginning of the end to the end of the end of the end, you will arrive at the end of the end of your rope.

This book is the last in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and even if you braved the previous twelve volumes, you probably can't stand such unpleasantries as a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents.

It has been my solemn occupation to complete the history of the Baudelaire orphans, and at last I am finished. You likely have some other occupation, so if I were you I would drop this book at once, so the end does not finish you.

With all due respect,

Lemony Snicket
