Julia Cameron's book was the reason I've been able to create plays, acting jobs! I can only say this: IT WORKS! I'm living proof! For anyone who is blocked, these tools used over years creates a strong powerful base upon which to create work! The Green Room

This book is the best friend you can ever have 5 out of 5 stars.

Just get it.

The first chapter as I remember was a little bit boring for me and when I start complaining to my friend, she told me :"Just read it."
And that was the best advice she ever gave me.
I gained a lot of self-confidence as an artist and person, came to conclusion in a lot of things that bothered me for a long time, it truly gave me a peace of mind.

So, for you, my friend:"Just ge-e-et it".

Editorial Review:

The Artist's Way is the seminal book on the subject of creativity. An international bestseller, millions of readers have found it to be an invaluable guide to living the artist's life. Still as vital today-or perhaps even more so-than it was when it was first published one decade ago, it is a powerfully provocative and inspiring work. In a new introduction to the book, Julia Cameron reflects upon the impact of The Artist's Way and describes the work she has done during the last decade and the new insights into the creative process that she has gained. Updated and expanded, this anniversary edition reframes The Artist's Way for a new century.

Editorial Review:

The collected works of Britain’s most wanted artist.

Artistic genius, political activist, painter and decorator, mythic legend or notorious graffiti artist? The work of Banksy is unmistakable (except maybe when it’s squatting in the New York’s Metropolitan Museum or Museum of Modern Art.) Banksy is responsible for decorating the streets, walls, bridges and zoos of towns and cites throughout the world.

Witty and subversive, his stencils show monkeys with weapons of mass destruction, policeman with smiley faces, rats with drills and umbrellas. If you look hard enough you’ll find your own. His statements, incitements, ironies and epigrams are by turns intelligent and witty comments on everything from the monarchy and capitalism to the war in Iraq and farm animals.

His identity remains unknown, but his work is prolific. And now for the first time, he’s putting together the best of his work—old and new—in a fully illustrated color volume.

Banksy, real name unknown, was born in Bristol, England.

A Sweet Day Brightener 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

My best friend and I buy this for each other every year, we kind of race to this and then tell the other "don't buy the M.E. calendar this year, I already did!" Last year we didn't and I missed it.

Understand we're not the hokey sentimentals (I don't think) but it's just nice to have a nicely detailed print with a quotation.

OUTSTANDING 5 out of 5 stars.

Disappointed This Year 3 out of 5 stars.

Space for writing appointments is 1/2 the size compared to all previous years. It does not meet my needs. Very disappointing... This will become a holiday gift instead of my desk personal calendar. Illustrations, as always, are beautiful.

Thomas Kinkade is the most collected artist in the world. Known as the Painter of Light, he creates glorious paintings from simple inspirations: family, tradition, community, and the beauty and goodness of God's creation. A devout Christian, Thom uses his gift as a vehicle to communicate and spread inherent life-affirming values. These heartwarming motivations are evident in this 2009 Thomas Kinkade calendar.

* 2009 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of Thom's first published limited edition artwork.

This calendar showcases Thom's all-time favorite twelve images handpicked by the artist himself, accompanied by personal anecdotes describing their inspiration. The calendar includes an individually numbered, collector's keepsake card in a velum envelope and is sold in a beautifully printed folio sleeve.

Linda Nelson Stocks wall calendar 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I have purchased Linda Nelson Stocks calendars yearly for probably about ten years and never tire of the beauty of the country folk art on each page. There has never been a calendar that disappointed me yet.

Perect daily planner 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The most important part of a daily planner is of course, the area's to write in, but what is neglected is a place to keep items of importance. This calendar has 2 flaps attached to the front and back cover so you can slip in notices and items of constant use.
The beauty of the calendar shows American Folk Art, which is lovely but the flexibility and durability of this calendar - with the additional features, make it the one calendar I purchase every year.

Editorial Review:

Linda Nelson Stocks is a renowned folk artist best known for the paintings that graced the Lang Folk Art Calendar for many years. She lives, gardens, and continues to paint in Connecticut.

This is NOT your preschoolers' alphabet book... 4 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

This book is for artists and people who truly appreciate abstract art. Unless you spend a bit of time really understanding what went into the creation of each eye-catching page, you'll be through with it in a jiff and onto the next book without a backwards glance.

My son was not intrigued in the least and I couldn't blame him. But going back and recognizing the scope of work that went into the representation of each letter...well, THEN it became remarkable. Seeing the 'R'(titled "Recycled")represented by a collage of Rubber bands on epoxy Resin, for instance, or the 'D' ("Dotty Diptych") illustrated by an amazing compilation of dominoes on wooden panels (80x70 inches!), is pretty impressive when you think about it. I think people who understand, first hand, how such artistic concepts are fleshed out will really enjoy this book - whether they have a child or not. They may want to use it as a coffee table book, in fact. However, I don't think the casual picture book browser will enjoy it as much.

Editorial Review:

A is for Art: An Abstract Alphabet is a remarkable journey of discovery about art and language through painting, collage, and sculpture by Caldecott Honor artist Stephen T. Johnson. With literal renderings of each letter, complete with witty titles and playful, alliterative captions, Johnson's abstract art forges connections between words, objects, and ideas.

Can you find the hidden letters? Look closely and you will see a letter C made of colorful candy, a letter H hidden in a hook, and an S in a soft shadow. From A to Z, each stunning, original work of art will stimulate the imagination and creativity of children and adults alike.

Editorial Review:

Millions of people have learned to draw using the methods of Dr. Betty Edwards. Now, in an essential companion to her bestselling classic, Edwards offers readers the key to mastering this art form: guided practice in their newfound creative abilities.

Here are forty new exercises that cover each of the five basic skills of drawing. Each practice session includes a brief explanation and instructional drawings, suggestions for materials, sample drawings, and blank pages for the reader's own drawings. Also provided in this spiral-bound workbook is a pullout viewfinder, a crucial tool for effective practice. While The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain focused primarily on portrait drawing with pencil, this workbook gives readers experience in various subject matter-still life, landscape, imaginative drawing-using alternative mediums such as pen and ink, charcoal, and conté crayon.

Editorial Review:

One of the most prolific and successful artists of the Golden Age of American Illustration, J. C. Leyendecker captivated audiences throughout the first half of the 20th century. Leyendecker is best known for his creation of the archetype of the fashionable American male with his advertisements for Arrow Collar. These images sold to an eager public the idea of a glamorous lifestyle, the bedrock upon which modern advertising was built. He also was the creator instantly recognizable icons, such as the New Year’s baby and Santa Claus, that are to this day an integral part of the lexicon of Americana and was commissioned to paint more Saturday Evening Post covers than any other artist.

Leyendecker lived for most of his adult life with Charles Beach, the Arrow Collar Man, on whom the stylish men in his artwork were modeled.

The first book about the artist in more than 30 years, J. C. Leyendecker features his masterworks, rare paintings, studies, and other artwork, including the 322 covers he did for the Post. With a revealing text that delves into both his artistic evolution and personal life, J. C. Leyendecker restores this iconic image maker’s rightful position in the pantheon of great American artists.
