Great Info for Cancer Patients Facing Prostate Surgery 5 out of 5 stars.
10 of 11 people found this review helpful.

Dr. Shabsigh's book is an excellent source of information and a great comfort to someone diagnosed with prostate cancer and faced with a decision regarding treatment options. His book was recommended to me when I was considering radical prostate surgery to remove my newly diagnosed cancer. From my research it was clear that surgery was the best option for me but I was greatly concerned about the possibility of side effects from surgery that could interfere with the quality of my life. Reading Dr. Shabsigh's book gave me the reassurance and optimism to go forward with surgery. My surgery was 100% successful and everything I read in Dr. Shabsigh's book is true. I have sinced purchased other copies of his book for friends who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. This book should be recommended by urologists to their patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and are considering treatment options.

Humor is the best stress reliever!! 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

This book is a very easy read and quiet entertaining for both myself and my husband. The author points out the humorus side of a lot of the things couples struggling with infertility are faced with. It makes it a lot more endurable when you can see the funny in it. I would recommend this book for anyone struggling with infertility! Laughter truely is the best medicine.

Thank you for making me laugh! 5 out of 5 stars.

I have never read a book like this before! Laughin'fertility is a very funny read. It takes a lot of courage to laugh at the ridiculous parts of infertility treatments and author Lisa Safran does a great job in sharing her personal experiences with a refreshingly humorous slant. If you or anyone you know is having fertility problems this book is a must.

Editorial Review:

Infertility - it's the latest "trend," and for most couples there isn't a darn thing funny about it. Well, don't be so sure. In Laughin'fertility, a guide to laughter by "baby-making challenged" author Lisa Safran, discover a funny, new perspective on the procedures, experiments, and studies so many people go through to make a baby. Laughin'fertility is a must for couples dealing with any aspect of infertility. And best of all, it will help sharpen laughter skills and prepare for what will hopefully be the next highly amusing challenge: parenthood.

My Journey Through the Desert, is a personal and heartfelt story sharing the true emotional pain infertility brought Lori Fitch and her husband, Grant, during their 8 year quest for a child. This book was birthed with the intentions to not only share a personal story about the pain and struggles that infertility brings, but out of a passion to reach out to those that struggle in the area of infertility and bring awareness to those that are watching from the outside looking in. This book gives real insight to what she has endured including her actual journal entries. Whatever God has in store for you, My Journey Through the Desert will help you face your future with faith and confidence along with a message of God's great love and concern for you.

Review of The Lunar Cycle 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Francesca Naish does quite a good job of explaining the method in a practical way. It is an interesting book written by a fertility practitioner, but it does not go into the subject in the same analytical depth (as say, Kevin Allen's book The Reluctant Hypothesis) and unfortunately it gives no details about how to calculate the all-important moon cycles for every month in a simple way (as Art Rosenblum's book did). Apart from that it's well worth a read.

Editorial Review:

Using a discovery that women can conceive at times in their cycle other than their ovulation time as a basis for natural fertility control, Francesca Naish describes such topics as lunar influences on fertility how to synchronize the hormonal and lunar phase cycles contraception and conception astrological influences on fertility sex selection of children and lunar phase cycle influence on male fertility. This book includes an impressive selection of case histories.

Editorial Review:

In a society in which most women grow up thinking they will become mothers-and in which many women go to great lengths to make that desire a reality -- not having a child is often met with incredulity and scorn. But as the author of this thoughtful and meticulously researched examination of childlessness points out, childless women are part of an ancient and respectable cultural tradition that includes biblical matriarchs, celibate saints, and nineteenth-century social reformers. Revealing the story of her own decision not to have children, Laurie Lisle draws from history, literature, religion and sociology to challenge the stigma attached to the condition of childlessness-and to offer encouragement and support to those women who have made the difficult decision themselves.

Beginning with the difficult inner journey a woman faces before finally deciding or realizing she will not bear children, Without Child explores the myth of the childless woman's rejection of the maternal instinct. It also explores the childless woman's relationship to mothers and mothering, to her femininity, to men, to achievement, to her body, and to old age. Wide-ranging yet intimate, philosophical, yet clear-sighted, this important book does what no other has done before-presents childlessness in a multifaceted and positive light.

Editorial Review:

In recent years, the treatment of male infertility has been revolutionized by advances in assisted reproductive technology. Prepared by an authoritative international panel of experts, this concise and structured account provides a consensus on the most effective and logical approach to the investigation and management of male infertility. The manual focuses attention on three key areas: history taking, clinical assessment of male fertility, and objective criteria for diagnostic categories. This approach complements the areas covered in the companion volume WHO Laboratory Manual for the Examination of Human Semen and Sperm-Cervical Mucus Interaction (CUP, fourth edition, 1999) and significantly expands on the section on male infertility discussed in the previous volume on the infertile couple, WHO Manual for the Standardized Investigation and Diagnosis of the Infertile Couple (CUP, 1993). This new, practical consensus will be an indispensable guide to good clinical management of all forms of male infertility.

I'm not the only one! 5 out of 5 stars.
11 of 11 people found this review helpful.

The Long Awaited Stork is the book that I wish I'd found three years ago when my twins were born! Like many other infertility veterans, I thought that my struggles were over when I became pregnant and delivered two healthy baby girls. Indeed, things are great but I still find that infertility is part of my life. I loved it when Ms. Glazer referred to the "cameo appearances" that infertility makes. It's a great description for those waves of feeling that come back when I least expect them. This book is a GREAT gift for anyone who is newly pregnant or for a new adoptive parent.

Editorial Review:

The Long-Awaited Stork gives you all the information, advice, and support you need to adjust to and cope with the special problems of parenting after infertility.
