This book did not have the same type of heat that I read in Only You, but it was just as good to read Shane's story to see what type of woman it would take to make him believe in love. Some parts are slow and makes you want to yell at the characters to get it together lol, but it's worth a read.

Editorial Review:

Nothing gets to Shane Elliott. A former Army Ranger, now head of security for a wealthy real estate tycoon, Shane can handle whatever life throws at him—until he meets the beautiful, kindhearted Paige Albright. She’s about to inherit a fortune, and Paige’s mother has asked Shane to investigate her boyfriend. It should have been a simple, standard assignment for Shane…if only Paige’s seductive mix of strength and vulnerability didn’t leave him wanting her for himself.

All her life, Paige has put others’ needs before her own, even going so far as choosing a man to please her father. Now her mother’s mysterious houseguest is tempting her to go after what she truly wants…even if it’s the cool, assertive, irresistible Shane himself. But is he who he appears to be? And how can Paige know whether to trust her own judgment—and their red-hot attraction?

This is the third book in the Whitfield trilogy and definitely the best in my opinion. We were introduced to Simone in the other two stories but now we really get to know her and understand her better. Although she has always been a tough, outspoken tomboy she has a sensitive side that most don't see. After witnessing an attack on a federal judge she becomes a protected witness and her whole world is turned upside down by U.S. Marshal Rafe Madison. Simone and Rafe have a rough start but eventually they discover that although they are opposite in many ways they still are right for each other.

Editorial Review:

When tall, ruggedly handsome U.S. marshall Raphael Madison tells spirited five-foot-three floral designer Simone Whitfield that he's her live-in bodyguard for the duration of a high-profile court case, the notion that opposites attract definitely applies.

But while trying to stay busy and ignore the magnetic pull of the hunky lawman, Simone discovers that sharing her home with a bodyguard stirs up a storm of longing. Soon, their closeness becomes electrifying, as friendship brings intimacy and an endless night of uncontrollable passion. But will the morning after bring regrets…or promises of forever?

Terrible affront to literature 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Eric Jerome Dickey is a phenomenally successful author, especially popular I gather with African American readers. He has 12 other books to his credit. I decided to see what all the fuss was about.
Now I know: It's SEX and lots of it, extremely explicit with many anatomic and gynecological details.
If the difference between erotica and porn lies in the literary quality of the work, this book definitely falls into the category of straight porn.
I won't bother to describe the plot -- it's laughable -- or the characters -- they're non-existent. But the worst aspect of this terrible affront to literature is the writing which is plain awful. Here's a sample, picked more or less at random:
"I felt as cold as a Siberian wasteland. the same way I had felt that night.
The same way I had felt in North Carolina when I killed Midnight.
The same way I had felt in Montreal when I killed that man for my mother.
The same way I had felt many nights..."
Try that for 383 pages. The first 80 or so are mainly taken up with a three-way sex scene in which our hero exchanges fluids with Lola and "Mrs. Jones. " (I kid you not!) Many shuddering orgasms take place. One of the two women says she aint no "Joanne" -- by which she means she's not a lesbian and it's OK to make love to another woman as long as one penis-bearing indivdual is in the room watching.
For what it's worth, the book takes place in London, my birthplace. For all the local color, it might as well take place in the Mall of America.
I've already wasted far too many words on this alleged book. If you like porn, be my guest. Otherwise, save your time and money.

Editorial Review:

New York Times bestselling author Eric Jerome Dickey’s must-read follow-up to Sleeping with Strangers.

Gideon, the hit man introduced in Sleeping with Strangers, returns in this “high-octane”(Publishers Weekly) thriller to discover that a hit has been taken out on him. Is it the man he left alive in Tampa, the cold beauty who taught him how to kill, the scorned woman he still desires, or an unknown enemy? As the hunter becomes the hunted, Gideon will need his friends—and his enemies—to get out of this crisis alive.

Mixing Business With Pleasure 4 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This is the second installment to "The Braddock's Secret Son" series. The saga continues with the quest for the truth behind the sudden and mysterious death of Harmon Braddock. In this installment we get to meet Harmon's hardworking, very serious daughter, Shondra. Shondra takes a job at Stewart Industries in an attempt uncover the mystery behind her fathers secret business trips and phone calls to SI. On a mission to find any/all the information she can, she's TOTALLY caught off guard by the INSTANT attraction to the very sexy, charming and quite daring Connor Stewart. Connor is totally captivated by Shondra and he pulls out all the romantic stops in attempt to capture her heart. This is the first novel I've read by Mrs. Robyn Amos and she does a great job with this continuity series. She keeps you entertained with a memorable cast of characters and a sweet, sensual, and VERY romantic storyline. The scenario with the blind date was HILARIOUS! And the on again/off again ex-girlfriend is a piece of work, and should have been on the receiving end of a good ol' fashion beat-down" for all her the CRAZY stunts she pulls throughout. Definitely looking forward to the continuation of this series.

Editorial Review:

As Senator Braddock's only daughter Shondra Braddock seemed to have it all: brains, beauty and the bank account of an heiress. But she didn't have answers. Determined to discover the connection between Stewart Industries and her father's death, Shondra accepted a job working for Connor Stewart, the company's blue-eyed, blond-haired CEO. But rugged and daring Connor was more man than Shondra could handle, and before long her undercover mission exploded into a secret, jet-setting affair that spanned the globe. Shondra might just be willing to risk her big brothers learning about her interoffice, interracial romance to uncover the truth. But when all of her secrets were revealed, would she risk losing it all?

Pretty Good 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

While I enjoyed this book, I feel that Mrs Jackson's writing style has become predictable. I expect and she delivers on the passion and happy endings. I know that she often writes "connecting" books where characters reappear, however, I'd like her romantic characters to have more depth.

I gave this book three stars bcz I CANNOT believe that Mrs. Jackson's team (herself, proofreaders, editors) would let this go to print with the word "desserts" misspelled on the cover title as well as within the text.

While I remain a fan, I expect Mrs. Jackson to raise the bar for others that follow in her footsteps.

Editorial Review:

Learning that her estranged husband has passed away is the biggest shock of Danielle Timberlake—Foster's life—until she learns that she wasn't his only wife. Though Danielle and Marc were separated, she believed they were about to reconcile and start a family. Rocked by betrayal, Danielle sees her dreams slipping away. Until her brother's best friend, Tristan Adams, offers support, comfort—and a chance to have the child she's always wanted. Danielle is drawn to Tristan's strong, sensual nature, but she wed Marc in haste and regretted it. Is she about to repeat her mistake? Or will a marriage of convenience turn into the soulful union she's always longed for?

I was just funnin' w/ the title of this review! Let me start out by saying that I love BJ...she is the queen of the AA historical romance in my book....but AlTonya is the princess! This book is well written and flows soooo smooth...it was a joy to read!
The book also has a great storyline with romance, adventure...it runs the whole gamut! (check out the other review to get the story summary....I ain't got time to write all that! LOL!)
Buy it! You won't regret it!

Outstanding!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

Ms. Washington has done it again. Jacinta McIver's devotion to helping others is so heart touching and so were her writings about the struggles of others. Solomon Dikembe is the perfect man for her. This story will touch your heart and mind. Washington has done an outstanding job!!

Wonderful!!! Superb!!!! Amazing!!!!! 5 out of 5 stars.

I love how well this book was written!! A wonderfully romantic historical novel, that makes you want to laugh, cry and sigh all at once. The main characters are opposites that finally figure it all out, that love sometimes does conquer all. Interwoven in this wonderful love story is a remarkable historical novel of African Americans in Charleston in the 1820's and the sad events of the Denmark Vesey Rebellion. Considering how well this book was written on the historical side, I certainly hope Ms. Washington will produce more novels of this scope.
