This is one of Ms. Jackson's Best book!! I really loved Sterling and Colby!! Wonderful!

Editorial Review:

An Outrageous Offer

To help her brother's struggling cosmetics company, schoolteacher Colby Wingate travels to Los Angeles for one last, desperate gamble—to have superstar actor Sterling Hamilton endorse her brother's new perfume. But Sterling thinks Colby has come to answer his want ad for a woman who would bear his child. When she realizes what Sterling is looking for, Colby is shocked that he expects any woman, let alone her, to comply no matter how much money he's willing to pay.…

A Passionate Bargain

A childhood loss has made Sterling determined not to get too close to anyone—even the strikingly beautiful Colby. But somehow, he has to convince Colby to become the mother of his child…with no strings attached. What he doesn't expect is for his carefully laid plans to explode into restless, fiery desire. Now, Sterling knows he needs Colby for much more—if only he can prove his intentions are for real and that he'll cherish and love her…forever.

What Matters Least 1 out of 5 stars.

OMG, I hate this book! As I write this review I've decided not to even try to finish it. Once again Gwynne Forster has done a disservice to readers. This book is supposed to be inspirational but, the only thing it will inspire me to do is to not read another story she writes.
We are given a 34 year-old hero, Dr. Jack Ferguson who is supposed to be a wealthy, educated, noted and respected cardiologist acting like a spoiled child and a spineless 31 year-old heroine, soon to be registered nurse, Melanie Sparks who placates him. I could not relate to either of them and found the dialog between them dated and immature.
It's the same old story, he's a have and she's a have not. After a medical ephiphany he decides to come down to the hood and mingle with the have-nots by opening a clinic and subsequently finds a kindred spirit in Melanie who just happens to need a job while she's getting her nursing degree. Oh and don't forget that after meeting her he then starts to have thoughts about his future meaning a family of his own.
I think Forster was trying as usual to make her hero a sexy alpha-male but once again she only made him come off as needing to be constantly reassured, paranoid, overbearing and annoying. At any time I expected Dr. Jack Ferguson to stomp his foot and hold his breath if he didn't get what he wanted.
Jack and Melanie are totally UNREALISTIC and the author puts them in unrealistic situations. For instance, why would Jack agree to spend the weekend at his architect's house after just meeting him and his family and then expect Melanie to agree to accompany him which of course she did and she didn't ask one pertinent question as to why and he (Jack) only wanted to do it because he was taken with the architect's precocious six year old daughter? This is just an example of why I found no empathy or support for them or their silly story.
The premise from Forster is always the same, big, handsome, accomplished, strong-willed man has to bend the will of the loyal, unassuming, low self-esteemed, do-gooder woman into doing what he wants. I was just insulted that a publisher would greenlight this mess for publication and shame on Forster for underestimating the reader by once again offering superficial characters with a re-hashed story. Just a real disappointment with two of the most unappealing characters put on paper. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Editorial Review:

Tall, muscular, compassionate and strong-willed, Dr. Jack Ferguson is everything Melanie Sparks wants in a man, and the last thing she needs in a boss. Growing up poor, Melanie dreamed of becoming a nurse, and her job at Jack's clinic can make that a reality—but only if she keeps her mind away from a tempting seduction that could never be more than a wonderful fling.

Son of a prominent Baltimore doctor, Jack is expected to choose a wealthy wife. Instead he's falling for someone his powerful father will never accept. Working with Melanie to help those most in need, Jack realizes that what he truly wants is the woman who's right in front of him—but can he convince Melanie of that?

Enjoyed it 5 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed the story- Morrison is now officially on my list of favourite authors. I like the poetry in her books, and the fact that the lessons she tries to teach come out clearly. You never have that feeling of 'and the moral of the story is...?

Never Again! A few more times. 3 out of 5 stars.

I have all of the books in the Jada & Wellington saga. As I read the stories I continuously shook my head at the things the characters did. I don't think Jada & Wellington knew each other well enough to be "soulmates". Outside of the sack, they had nothing going for them. I was highly irritated at the fact that, although they were both still madly in love with each other and never stopped sleeping together, they went off and married other people! and don't even get me started on Darius. Regardless of the horrible logic the characters used Mary Morrison's books aren't that bad and might, just might, be worth your hard-earned dollars.

Mixed emotions 2 out of 5 stars.

Well there were so many things that made me stop reading this book, then pick it up again. First off, in this one, to me it seemed like no one aged meaning Jada or Wellington. Darius was what, 20 yrs old so that had to make them in their 50's but their language and the childishness of them both seemed like the writer forgot they were older than the first book. I felt like both Jada and Wellington forgot to grow up. If someone is your soulmate then why would you marry someone else, have a baby with someone else, have sex with someone else other than that person?? This book left me confused about soulmates.

Editorial Review:

Eric Jerome Dickey chronicles the lives, loves, and challenges of young African Americans with humor and poignancy that places him clearly alongside such popular authors as Bebe Moore Campbell, Connie Brisco, and Terry McMillan. In Friends and Lovers, two couples set off on different roads in the search for the kind of love that will last. Deborah and Leonard meet late at night in a Denny's. She is a smart, no-nonsense OB/GYN who has sworn off sex before marriage--no more men slipping into her bed after sundown and leaving before sunup. He is a dark, complicated, and spiritual man who makes his living as an entertainer. He is drawn to her strength and intelligence; she falls for his deep sensitivity. They choose to marry. Shelby and Tyrel are both on the rebound after tumultuous relationships. They fall in love hard and fast, and move in together. When Shelby finds out she is pregnant, she takes a step back and compares her situation to her friend Deborah's. Afraid that Tyrel's commitment isn't solid and she might end up a single mother, like her own mom, Shelby shuts Tyrel out. Wracked by feelings of betrayal, he flees the relationship and Los Angeles. But tragedy will reunite them in a moment of crisis. Their painful reunion will underscore that there is no right road to love, only an ongoing effort to cope with life and the surprising and imperfect ways that it unfolds. Eric Jerome Dickey's sharp wit and warm humor, his gift for genuine characters, and his connection to real-life issues all make Friends and Lovers a perceptive, moving, and highly enjoyable novel of modern life.

A novel that you read more than once. 5 out of 5 stars.

I was blown away from the various turns and directions this book takes you on. Although the meat of the book pertains to a couple contemplating on taking their relationship to the next level,it provided a spritual context as well. I was impressed with minister in this book. One of favorite parts of the book is when the minister tells the congregation to pick a incarcerated pen-pal to write to. This was my first book I read by Marry Morrison. I will follow up with her next book titled, She anit'the one this spring.

can't put the book down! 5 out of 5 stars.

This book kept my attention. The Author was very descriptive. I would really suggest you read this book. It was well worth my $$$$. You also have to purchase the follow-up to this book ------> Never Again Once More

Hot & Steamy! 4 out of 5 stars.

This was the first book I read by Mary B. Morrison. What a great introduction to this author! Its a hot and steamy page-turner with lots of substance.

Ghetto Book 2 out of 5 stars.

Even though the book was ok. It was a typical ghetto story that happens all the time. I thought the book would take on a new path instead of the typical drama.

Another EJD favorite 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Once again, a very well written book. I love the characters and their craziness. This book is actually what really got me back into reading again. Kudos EJD.

where it all started... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I've been a fan of EJD for years but for some reason I have never read his first book... until now. I can definately how his fan base started with this book. It was extremely emotional and definately strong on the women perspective... VERY STRONG! The woman are all too real and so is thier pain. You'll cheer when something good happens, hurt when they hurt, and feel good when they finally "breath again". I've completed the circle. :-)

Bad brothers! 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

Valerie and Inda are sisters. The products of a mixed coupled relationship. Valerie is fare skinned. Attributes taken from her white mother. She's married and miserable in a six year marriage to Walter. A black man who blames his lack of success on Valerie and what he feels is her lack of motivation. Inda takes her dark features from their father. She was once married to a white male and vowed to never let a man dictate the way she lives her carefree life ever again after finding out he cheated.

These two women are taken on a journey of soul searching and a new relationship with Chiquita whose just like a sister after some circumstances force them into each others lives. OK read.

Editorial Review:

A story of two African-American sisters, Valerie and Inda, and their brother, Thaddeus, revolves around aspects of their love relationships and friendships as Thaddeus attempts a relationship with Inda's friend Chiquita, while Valerie is leaving her husband. A first novel. 50,000 first printing. Tour.

this book was fantastic. i love francis ray, she is an excellent author who knows how to put romance in a book. i love her and i have all of her books.

Undeniably Good! 5 out of 5 stars.

Francis Ray has done it again. From what I understand this book was a re-release of an older title but it's amazing how it's fitting for then or now. Her characters know no time or place other than the love they have for each other. Which is obvious by the way. I highly recommend anything by Francis Ray...

Editorial Review:

Unforgiven

But that was before a trumped-up assault charge set the whole town—and the woman he loved—against him. With a heart full of pain, Logan fled Stanton—and the bittersweet memories of the passion he and Rachel had shared.

Unforgettable

When Rachel met Logan, she thought she'd found the perfect love—until he betrayed her and her family. Now, eight years later, he was back—more arrogant and dangerously seductive than ever. And this time the stakes were higher. For Logan clearly wanted revenge. He also wanted Rachel.

Editorial Review:

Gold Pen Award-winning author ReShonda Tate Billingsley returns to the Houston congregation of her #1 Essence magazine bestseller, Let the Church Say Amen, in this warm and powerful sequel.

When her husband hears God's call to become a preacher, Rachel Jackson Adams is distressed -- she grew up a preacher's daughter, and knows how difficult life under the microscope can be for a reverend's family. But hot-headed Rachel has toned down her wild ways, and for the sake of her marriage and her two children, she is now the reluctant first lady of Zion Hill, unafraid to rock the boat with her unconventional ideas for revitalizing the church. When her son, Jordan, begins fighting at school, Rachel turns to the boy's father, Bobby -- Rachel's first love from years ago. Married now himself, there should be nothing between them except their concern for Jordan -- so why does seeing Bobby again feel so distractingly tempting? With her brothers facing dramas of their own, and her father, Reverend Simon Jackson, recovering from illness, Rachel must listen carefully to discover what God truly wants for her -- and to decide if Bobby is the lover of her dreams or the devil in disguise

Pleasures worth the risk 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

"Risky Pleasures" is the long awaited book about feisty Vanessa Steele and the man set on capturing her heart - Cameron Cody. Vanessa has had one disappointing experience in life and is determined that she no longer wants to be involved with another man at this point in her life. However, Cameron has other ideas. Cameron is determined to pursue Vanessa even if it means following her to Jamaica when she goes there to "house sit" for her sister.

When Vanessa discovers that Cameron is hot on her trail, she decides to turn the tables and beat Cameron at his game. Vanessa sets out to charm Cameron with seduction, however, Cameron is of the same mind. With both minds thinking alike, will their seduction of pleasure turn into "risky pleasures" that both never thought could happen? In order to find out, you must read the story.

"Risky Pleasures" is definitely hot and will keep you turning the pages.

Editorial Review:

Although frustrated in his attempt to acquire Steele Corporation, arrogant millionaire Cameron Cody will not be denied the firm's most attractive asset, Vanessa Steele. So when Cameron learns that Vanessa is house-sitting for her sister in Jamaica, he buys the adjoining property and makes her an offer she can't refuse….

Cameron is determined to prove to Vanessa that he is the one temptation she cannot resist, but she is equally determined to prove him wrong. What Vanessa doesn't suspect is that Cameron intends to brand her so deeply with his island passion, that once they're back in the States, she'll be the one in hot pursuit.
