A really good summer read 4 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

My daughter & I both read Sail this summer. We both thought the same thing. It was definitely a good summer read. A little predictable in parts, but it kept moving. You know how some books tend to stall in places, this did not. We both like James Patterson's books more when he collaberates with another writer.

Editorial Review:

Since the death of her husband, Anne Dunne and her three children have struggled in every way. In a last ditch effort to save the family, Anne plans an elaborate sailing vacation to bring everyone together once again. But only an hour out of port, everything is going wrong. The teenage daughter, Carrie, is planning to drown herself. The teenage son, Mark, is high on drugs and ten-year-old Ernie is nearly catatonic. This is the worst vacation ever.
Anne manages to pull things together bit by bit, but just as they begin feeling like a family again, something catastrophic happens. Survival may be the least of their concerns.
Written with the blistering pace and shocking twists that only James Patterson can master, SAIL takes "Lost" and "Survivor" to a new level of terror.

This one just was too far out for me to appreciate. I'll read the reviews, which would have been helpful next time!

Editorial Review:

The greatest superpower of all isn't to be part spider, part man, or to cast magic spells--the greatest power is the power to create.
Daniel X has that power.

Daniel's secret abilities -- like being able to manipulate objects and animals with his mind or to recreate himself in any shape he chooses -- have helped him survive. But Daniel doesn't have a normal life. He is the protector of the earth, the Alien Hunter, with a mission beyond what anyone's imagining.

From the day that his parents were brutally murdered before of his very eyes, Daniel has used his unique gifts to hunt down their assassin. Finally, with the help of The List, bequeathed to him in his parents' dying breath, he is closing in on the killer.

Now, on his own, he vows to take on his father's mission--and to take vengeance in the process.

Good but could've been better! 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

I agree with other Patterson readers, plot was OK but it could've been better. Boxer with Conklin?? Please!! I don't think so. I was disappointed with this book, and lately with the Alex Cross ones. Hopefully Patterson's next book Cross or WMC is put together better, and not leaving me feel so "BLAH".

Editorial Review:

A terrible fire in a wealthy suburban home leaves a married couple dead and Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner Rich Conklin searching for clues. Frightened for her life and torn between two men, Lindsay must find a way to solve the most daunting dilemmas she's ever faced--at work and at home.

Editorial Review:

For the first time in more than a decade, New York Times bestselling Grand Master Elizabeth Peters brings beautiful, brainy Vicky Bliss back into the spotlight for one last investigation. But this time the peerless art historian and sleuth will be detecting in Amelia Peabody territory, searching for solutions to more than one heinous offense in the ever-shifting sands of Egypt's mysterious Valley of the Kings.

Who stole one of Egypt's most priceless treasures? That is the question that haunts the authorities after a distinguished British gentleman with an upper-crust accent cons his way past a security guard and escapes into the desert carrying a world-famous, one-of-a-kind historic relic. But the Egyptian authorities and Interpol believe they know the identity of the culprit. The brazen crime bears all the earmarks of the work of one “Sir John Smythe,” the suave and dangerously charming international art thief who is, in fact, John Tregarth, the longtime significant other of Vicky Bliss. But John swears he is retired—not to mention innocent—and he vows to clear his name by hunting down the true criminal.

Vicky's faith in her man's integrity leaves her no choice but to take a hiatus from her position at a leading Munich museum and set out for the Middle East. Vicky's employer, the eminent Herr Doktor Anton Z. Schmidt, rotund gourmand and insatiable adventurer, decides to join the entourage.

But dark days and myriad dangers await them in this land of intriguing antiquity. Each uncovered clue seems to raise even more questions for the intrepid Vicky—the most troubling being, Where is John going during his increasingly frequent and unexplained absences? And the stakes are elevated considerably when a ransom note arrives accompanied by a grisly memento intended to speed up negotiations—because now it appears that murder most foul has been added to the equation.

Disappointed 1 out of 5 stars.

I did not like this book. I kept reading hoping something would catch my interest. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors and does not need a co-author. He does much better alone.

City of Angels meets Drop Dead Fred 3 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

The good about the book:

1.) Interesting premise regarding imaginary friends.
2.) Quick read. 300 pages that probably should have been 150 in normal cirumstances.
3.)A lot of "aww" moments within the love story.

The BAD:

1.) Older imaginary friend has lover. Michael, knew Jane as a child for 5 years (from 4-9). Yet he falls head over heels in love with her after knowing her as an adult for 2 days? Isn't it once you know someone as a kid, they're always a kid to you? Everytime it's mentioned about him noticing her acting childlike "she had a child's curiosity.", it made me cringe.

2.) Stereotypical characters. Jane's Mom is overbearing and super critical. Michael is the perfect man, stereotypically, think of what the perfect man is to a woman (good listener, sensitive, loves kids, handsome, good in bed, loves your flaws). Perfect is boring, Michael is boring. He has no weight as a character whatsoever. Jane, is miserable without a good man in her life to show her how to live and run her life. Ugh.

3.) Never explained imaginary friend position. Michael is an imaginary friend but he lives and interacts as any other person, BUT he can be invisible when he wants to, snaps to get money. Huh? When Jane asks him he says "I don't know." I don't know either.

All in all, it's ok.

Editorial Review:

As a little girl, Jane has no one. Her mother, the powerful head of a Broadway theater company, has no time for her. She does have one friend-a handsome, comforting, funny man named Michael-but only she can see him.

Years later, Jane is in her thirties and just as alone as ever. Then she meets Michael again-as handsome, smart and perfect as she remembers him to be. But not even Michael knows the reason they've really been reunited.

SUNDAYS AT TIFFANY'S is a love story with an irresistible twist, a novel about the child inside all of us-and the boundary-crossing power of love.

How did the publisher get so stupid as to accept this? 1 out of 5 stars.
10 of 13 people found this review helpful.

This book gets 1 star because I don't know how to review witout giving at least one. What happened to Patterson? He was never a deep writer, never will, I hope, rank as a writer of American classiscs, but this is far below his usual medocrity. Maybe it's the second author; maybe she is really the ghost writer of this novel.

Besides the plot being almost non-existent, the characters are mere cardboard cutouts unable to stand alone. There are apparently a number of books in the "Women's Murder Club" series. Possibly if one has read all of these the characters are more real. Such reading probably dulls the mind so that this book has no effect.

The "novel" has 136 chapters. Perfect for the attention deficit reader. The crimes covered by the heroine, a woman with two dimensions perfect for Hollywood or the tube, are neither connected to the "plot" nor the movement of the text.

Do I regret buying this used book for fifty cents to assuage my boredom while sitting in a hospital waiting room? No. What I regret is reading the whole thing (without the benefit of an Alka-seltzer). My only defense is I'm stubborn. If you can get this for less than a dollar and really need something to numb your mind go ahead and get this.

Editorial Review:

When a horrifying attack leaves one of the four members of the Women's Murder Club struggling for her life, the others fight to keep a madman behind bars before anyone else is hurt. And Lindsay Boxer and her new partner in the San Francisco police department run flat-out to stop a series of kidnappings that has electrified the city: children are being plucked off the streets together with their nannies--but the kidnappers aren't demanding ransom. Amid uncertainty and rising panic, Lindsay juggles the possibility of a new love with an unsolvable investigation, and the knowledge that one member of the club could be on the brink of death. And just when everything appears momentarily under control, the case takes a terrifying turn, putting an entire city in lethal danger. Lindsay must make a choice she never dreamed she'd face--with no certainty that either outcome has more than a prayer of success.

Editorial Review:

When Lauren Stillwell discovers her husband leaving a hotel room with another woman, she decides to beat him at his own game. But while she's sneaking around, her husband is hatching a plan of his own. After a torrid quickie with a co-worker, Lauren hears a struggle outside her window and looks out just in time to see her husband loading her lover's limp body into the trunk of a car. When the body shows up in a pool of shallow water, she races to the scene of the crime. But Lauren Stillwell is no regular wronged woman. She's a NYC cop--and she's just been assigned to this case. Unable to tell anyone what she saw and unwilling to turn her husband in, Lauren is paralyzed by a secret that will tear her life apart. But as she attempts to point fingers away from her husband, she uncovers something shocking: her husband didn't have an affair--what he did was far worse than she could have ever imagined. A gripping story of secrets and infidelities that begins where Adrian Lyne's movie Unfaithful leaves off, THE QUICKIE will have readers' hearts pounding to the very last page.

Review for You've been Warned - James Patterson 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

What a fabulous book - I simply loved it. Mr. Patterson always knows how to tell a great story and keep you turning those pages on the edge of your seat. Prior to buying this book, I had read a few reviews of other customer's who said they hated the book. However I have read James Patterson books for many years and I could not believe those bad reviews. I decided to find out for myself and I am glad I did. This is true to form Patterson, well written, suspenseful with plently of twists, and at the end I think - a moral lesson for us all. Don't play with fire because you will get burned and burn innocent people too. Another winner from James Patterson.
