strong amateur sleuth 5 out of 5 stars.

This year the annual International Association of Biofeedback Practitioners is being held at the Snowridge ski resort in Sunnyville Vermont. The attendees include Carrie Carlin, who has a small practice in Bergen, New Jersey. She is particularly excited about this conference because the guest speaker, Dr. Hubert Freundlich, has made a significant breakthrough in the field, one that Carrie can use in her own practice.

At her first meeting with Hubert, he makes a pass at her in a hot tub filled with people, one of whom is his wife. At lunch the next day his assistant, Charlie Anders drunkenly hints that he has something on the good doctor. Shortly after that, he is murdered and Carrie gets involved when it's is discovered he was wearing her scarf. It turns out that her friend Dr. Joe Golden had the scarf in his possession and was going to give it back to her before it mysteriously disappeared. Joe also got into a fight with the victim one hour before he was killed but Carrie is sure he is innocent and intends to prove it over the objections of her significant other because he doesn't want her to be used as bait by an overzealous policeman.

This amateur sleuth tale showcases a heroine who is prone to take risks even when she is only indirectly involved in a homicide investigation. She is exasperatingly stubborn and so good hearted that readers find themselves rooting for her and wanting her to back off while also feeling sorry for her lover who has to put up with her. Nancy Tesler knows how to write an extremely exciting who-done-it that can't be put down.

Fast Paced Read 5 out of 5 stars.

This is a cute little mystery with characters that are believable and likeable.

Carrie Carlin is a lovely lady with a penchant for being in the wrong place at the right time. She has an interesting first career; teaching people how to cope with various problems through biofeedback and other technologies. She is also a pretty fair detective.

Ms. Tesler keeps the pace of the book moving, allowing no time for the reader to sit back and "ho-hum" for a few pages.

It is a very fast read. I read it on a plane trip that took less than 3 hours. If you have a couple of hours on your hands and want a book that will hold your attention, this is the one for you.

Editorial Review:

Carrie Carlin is trying to juggle single life in the suburbs, two frisky children, and a full-time career. Through it all she's got to stand by while her estranged husband flaunts his new, young, gorgeous fiancee, Erica. When Erica turns up dead, Carrie--the jealous ex-wife-- becomes a prime suspect. But with the help of the fine Detective Ted Brodsky, Carrie will uncover the truth--and prevail!

Poignant 5 out of 5 stars.

Stress management therapist Carrie Carlin does not live in the tranquil environment she prescribes for her clients. Instead, she has been accused of killing her former husband,s lover and has solved several homicide cases. Her significant other, police officer Ted Brodsky, met her when he thought she killed her former spouse,s paramour. Recently her father won a fortune in the lottery, which pleases Carrie because she is happy for her dad and her stepmother Eve.

Though Claire has never been close with Eve, she allows her stepmother to stay overnight. However, to Claire,s chagrin, Eve is arrested for leaving a homicide scene and for refusing to answer the police,s questions on why she was even there. Claire begins her own inquiries, which lead her to wonder if the woman her father married is the killer.

GOLDEN EGGS AND OTHER DEADLY THINGS is a delightful amateur sleuth tale that will send readers searching for the previous novels in the series. Carrie is an adorable heroine whose frenzied hysterical lifestyle is something may fans will understand first hand. The identity of the killer is a surprise, as other suspects appear more viable. The heart and soul of this book lies in the protagonist and her relationships with her loved ones. The lengths she will go to in order to keep them safe are a sight to behold. Nancy Tesler has written an appealing, humorous and well crafted mystery that should prove to be her golden egg amidst contented sub-genre fans.

Editorial Review:

Everything was golden, until the killing began...

The good news was that Carrie's father had gotten rich. The bad news was that her stepmom was coming to visit.

Carrie, a stress-reduction therapist who dates a cop, mothers two teenagers, and solves murders on the side, thought she could handle Eve for a weekend. But that was before the glamour queen dragged Carrie into a wild-goose chase that led to a dead man in Manhattan.

Now Eve is in jail, Carrie's long-lost stepbrother--so long-lost Carrie didn't know she had one--is back, and people are dropping like flies. No wonder Carrie's biorhythms are starting to flutter. For Carrie, unraveling the mystery that Eve thrust into her life is a matter of self-preservation. Because a killer has a shortlist of victims--and Carrie's name is right near the top....

Very Good 4 out of 5 stars.

This is the first book I have read by this author and bought it after reading the reviews posted here. I was not disappointed. It was very good. I enjoyed the story and when I thought I could predict who the killer was I found myself extremely wrong. Halfway through the book, I went out and bought her other books. I would definitely recommend this author.

Editorial Review:

A whack in the head...

Biofeedback specialist Carrie Carlin helps patients cope with pain, ADD kids manage their behavior, and overstressed Gen X'ers calm down.  But her own negative reaction when her lover, cop Ted Brodsky, mentions the M word (that's marriage, not murder) may spell the end to their relationship.  So might snooping into a homicide on Ted's turf.

A local philanthropist has been killed by a cyclist wielding an unusual murder weapon--a stick and a star.  And the elderly owner of the antiques store near Carrie's office is the only eyewitness.  Worried about her neighbor, Carrie quickly offers emotional support and her home as a refuge.  That simple gesture is about to land her in hot water, caught between Ted's anger at her meddling... and the deadly intentions of a killer who walks softly, holds a chilling secret, and may be closer than Carrie thinks....
