Editorial Review:

I am Meredith Gentry, P.I. and Princess Merry, heir to the throne of Fairie.
Now there are those among me who whisper I am more.
They fear me even as they protect me. And who can blame them?
I’ve awakened the dazzling magic that’s slumbered in them for
thousands of years. But the thing is, I can’t figure out why.

My aunt, the Queen of Air and Darkness, is no longer distracted by her usual sadistic hobbies. Her obsession has turned unwaveringly to me. The mission to get me pregnant and beat my cousin Prince Cel to the crown is taking longer than expected. Even though I spend each night with the Queen’s Ravens, my immortal guards, no child has come of our decadent pleasures. But something else is happening. My magic courses through me uncontrollably. And as I lock my half-mortal body with their full-Sidhe blooded ones, the power surges like never before.

It all began with the chalice. I dreamed of it, and it appeared, cool and hard, beside me when I awoke. My guards know the ancient relic well—its disappearance ages ago stripped them of their vital powers. But it is here with us now. My touch resonates with its force, and they’re consumed with it, their Sidhe essences lit up by it. But even as they cherish me for this unexpected gift, there are those who loathe me for it. Me, a mongrel, only half fey and part mortal. The Unseelie court has suffered for so long, and there are some who would not have it weakened further by an impure queen. My enemies grow in number every day. But they do not know what I am capable of. Nor, for that matter, do I. . . .

In Seduced by Moonlight, Laurell K. Hamilton brings the dark, erotic reign of the immortal fey to a startling new depth. Full of sensuality and the consuming anticipation of latent powers unleashed, this world of gods, shapeshifters, and immortal souls is unveiled in all of its supreme magnificence and its treacherous deceits.

Done 2 out of 5 stars.
4 of 5 people found this review helpful.

When I first started reading the Anita series I loved it. I liked that Anita was independent, had a career, kicked butt and had tension with the bad boys of the city. I am so sad that she has turned into a whore who just sleeps with the whole city. Gone is the career she had, how she kicked butt and was independent and how she interacted with the police and the people that worked there. I'm not a prude and don't mind good, fun sex in a book, but this is just porn at this point with little plot to drive it. And now, we are back to considering dating Jean Claude and Richard again? (blood noir) Seriously?? Now it's just a re-hash of old plots and some porn. Boring. After 15 books, I'm done with this series. I recommend turning to Patricia Briggs and the Mercy Thompson series or Carrie Vaughn and the Kitty series, who both offer strong, independent women, some romance, a whole lotta trouble and a PLOT!

Story is Absoultely Dreadful - Audio reader is good though 1 out of 5 stars.
2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I heard great reviews about the Anita Blake series and happened to find the audio version of this one at my local library. I probably should have started with the first book, but this one was available and I really wanted to check out this series.

For the Audio version, the reader does do a nice job of reading the story, but that is the only nice thing that I can say. I got about 1/2 through the book and couldn't continue.

Nothing deep here. Lots of talk about herms, orgy sized beds, and Anita's 7 (YES 7) lovers that she has all at once. There was a story here, but hard to muddle your way through with all the other stuff going on, so I chose to put it down.

I certainly don't mind a book that's a little sexy, but this to me was just plain sick. I hate to be harsh, but this was just plain bad. Her writing style isn't bad but the story is too much to bear.

Editorial Review:

Readers haven't seen anything yet-new in the "fabulously imagined series" (Publishers Weekly) from the #1 New York Times bestselling author.

Anita Blake is about to face the challenge of her life. Into her world-a world already overflowing with power-have come creatures so feared that powerful, centuries-old vampires refuse to mention their names. It is forbidden to speak of The Harlequin unless you've been contacted. And to be contacted by The Harlequin is to be under sentence of death.

Long-time rivals for Anita's affections, Jean-Claude, Master Vampire of the City, and Richard, alpha-werewolf, will need to become allies. Shapeshifters Nathaniel and Micah will have to step up their support. And then there's Edward. In this situation, Anita knows that she needs to call the one man who has always been there for her...

My, are we getting picky... 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 8 people found this review helpful.

I am very disappointed... with the reviewers who rated this book with less than a 4 star.

I remember years ago reading comic books that were declared the unsavory UNDERGROUND because they were not published by DC or Marvel. Those whose preferences were outside the superhero in Spandex had little to read. And we were SO bad for wanting something more... Glad those days are long over!

I enjoy reading books, comics, and mangas. They all come with their own sense of cinematography. Adaptations are difficult at best, especially when dealing with a story as loaded as Ms. Hamilton's can be.

The artwork is brilliant. Beautifully gothic without being repulsive. (Does ANYONE remember the undergrounds in which the characters looked like they had acid dumped on them, and it wasn't the LSD type??) I also was very surprised at how accurate the characters were to my own mind's picture of them. It was so comfortable to now finally see what they looked like and how well Ms. Hamilton described them in the prose version. (I would absolutely have hated being the person making the decision on which artist won out and the thumbnails of the various characters... there are just too many of them!!)

It's like reading a book, seeing the musical version, then the movie version. They all will not be the same, nor will they appeal to everyone. As for me, I enjoyed this one immensely, and I am looking forward to Vol 1 and 2 of Guilty Pleasures -- all right, I'm running a little behind in the reading department because I've been working on the writing department...

Reviewers, let's be a little more responsible. Some of these reviews remind me of those in the gourmet section of Amazon screaming at people to not eat goose liver and giving out bad reviews because of philosophical reasons, not because of how good or horrible it tasted.

I'm giving it a 5-Star rating. Excellent quality pressing. Great quality paper -- I like them heavier. The colors were brilliant and dark as they were meant to be. It survived my second library reading room (the bathroom) far better than I had anticipated. And when the husband "accidentally" bumped it off the sink, the corners did not get dinged, and the dust cover held out wonderfully.

So there!

Bored patriot.... 3 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I still have high hopes for this GN. I never read the original series of novels but I think that the graphic novel has a potential for greatness however I have found the dialog to be horribly lacking!!! Most of the time its hard to follow as it is completely uninteresting and there appears to be no solid story, maybe I should have read the novels, I don't know but if so then maybe they should list that on the cover as a recommended prerequisite :p..

Buy the book, not the comic 1 out of 5 stars.

I placed the order on 31July 08 and even though I recieved an order conformation the book never arrived so I don't know how good or how bad it is.
I have read the novel the comic is based on and I highly recomend it.

New York Times Best-Selling author Laurell K. Hamilton offers readers a brand new experience in the world of Anita Blake! Fusing mythology, werewolves and vampires with a story loaded with mystery, action and romance, the Anita Blake novels take place in a world where vampires, werewolves, and other creatures of nightmare have been declared legal citizens of the United States. Anita Blake is an "animator" - a profession that involves raising the dead for a living. Anita Blake is also known as a fearsome hunter of criminal vampires, and she moonlights by investigating cases that are far too much for "conventional" police. But as Anita gains the attention of the vampire masters in her hometown of St. Louis, she also risks revealing an intriguing secret about herself - the source of her unusual strength and power. As a special treat, Anita Blake fans will also discover an original side story featuring Anita and Dolph, written specially for the hardcover edition by Laurell K. Hamilton. I really enjoyed this book. I"ve read all of Laurell Hamiltons books and am now starting on MaryJanice Davidson. I was disappointed to find that there was no continuation of the other two writers characters as I found them to be very interesting and would have liked to read more about them.

A bit repetative, but reasonably good 3 out of 5 stars.

Hamiltons contribution was a story that I felt like I kept coming across in other anthologies, besides the original book. The second story of an earth born alien finding love was enjoyable and left me wanting more. The third hit no bell, I don't even remember it and I just read it yesterday.

Nightseer 3 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I'll make this brief. Nightseer was paced almost too quickly. Not enough places for the reader to catch their breath. It also needed more back story and requires one, if not two more volumes to finish the story. Yet Ms. Hamilton has moved on to bigger and better things. I enjoyed the book. It just needed better pacing.

huh? 2 out of 5 stars.

i really love her work but this one i couldn't get into at all. I was lost from the get go.

not a good book 1 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I picked up this book because I couldn't find the Anita Blake series but figured I'd get a taste of her writing.

Big mistake. Now I'm rather afraid to pick up the Anita Blake series if this is the kind of writing I have to look forward to.

There was little character development and almost no explanation for the reasons behind the events. At the end I had no attachment at all to the main character and had no idea why half of the events happened.

Don't waste your time.

Go, Laurell! Anita rules... 5 out of 5 stars.
0 of 0 people found this review helpful.

SO MUCH FUN! I think that what makes Anita so interesting is that she NEVER gives up. Some would say that she really just needs to relax and have fun SOMETIMES instead of working every second, but that's what gives her a real conscience. I have read the first four books and am impressed. She makes the vampires look wimpy! Empowered vampire slayers ARE a little intimidating, but they should be.

Editorial Review:

First time in trade paperback: the fourth novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Vampire hunter and zombie animator Anita Blake is an expert at sniffing out the bad from the good. But in The Lunatic Cafe-now in trade paperback for the first time-she's about to learn that nothing is ever as it seems, especially in matters of the not-so-human heart.

Dating a werewolf with self-esteem issues is stressing Anita out. Especially when something-or someone-starts taking out the city's shapeshifters.

Not really worth the time. 1 out of 5 stars.
13 of 17 people found this review helpful.

This one doesn't seem to be a typical Laurell K. Hamilton Book. I should point that out to those considering it. I finished in one day during a slow shift at work and I have to say I was thoroughly disappointed. Characters get introduced and then just when you sorta start caring for them they are brushed aside like bothersome ants. The end left me with a bad taste in my mouth that wouldn't go away. The only thing terrifying was that I actually made it to the end of this book. It was quite depressing left me quite unsatisfied. I wanted more but not in a good way. The ending left me feeling cheated especially after you learn what happens to the characters you tried so hard to start liking.

If you want good Laurell K. Hamilton stuff go back to her roots and read the Anita Blake Series before the 'porn' takes control. Basically anything from Obsidian Butterfly and before that. Maybe she'll go back to writing about characters we care about and not this 'fluff'. If not check out Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series, Book 1) At least you are not left going 'uh... is that it?' when you're done with it.

Editorial Review:

Laurell K. Hamilton's Ravenloft(R) classic!

Death of a Darklord focuses on a young woman who finds that she has a talent for magic in a land and a family unforgiving of such abilities. Her tragic attempts to redeem herself in the eyes of her family by aiding them on their quest to end the dark magic that has destroyed a neighboring town, makes for a gripping, terrifying read.
