I got this book as part of premarriage counseling, and overall it was a good book. Good information for people of various sex knowledge levels. However, the book was comical at points and seemed a bit old fashioned/impractical. For example, a wife should have dinner on the table and look her best when her husband comes home from work. It also said that couples should not own a TV for the first year of their marriage. Already broke that rule.

This book is wonderful! I bought it just prior to my wedding. It is a bit like going back to middle school sex-ed, but it proved invaluable for the honeymoon. The authors deal expertly, honestly, and sensitively about the subject.

The Wheat's really know what they are talking about...and it was fun to read with my new husband. I would recommend this book to everyone, not just Christians, who are about to make the jump to wedded bliss. Probably better to read a month before the wedding...otherwise that first night can be like fumbling around in the dark. Highly recommended.

Good book - a thought to keep in mind Ladies 4 out of 5 stars.

I read this book and really enjoyed it for all the good advice that I found. I have also read many of the reviews, both good and bad.

First of all, there is some excellent advice in this book. You can argue that it is or is not Biblical but when it comes down to it - is it in the Bible or not? You can only change your perspective of a verse so much based on context - some of it just is the way it is no matter how you look at it. Just a thought!

Also, I struggled with the fact that it seemed Debi was putting all the blame on the wives. It took me a while to figure out that Debi is talking ONLY to the women! She is not talking to the husbands - just the wives! If a women goes around and refuses to change anything or adjust anything until her husband changes first then there may be no change at all. I don't thing the Pearls are advocating that the husband is always right and wife always wrong. However, when talking only to the wives, what good would it do to spend time highlighting the faults of the husbands? Wouldn't that give wives freedom to say "well, I don't want to change myself until he changes too because he..." Debi did talk about this briefly saying something about the different things her husband would be saying if he were talking to men. If you read the book with this perspective, I think you will get much more out of it! It is pretty sad if we all go around hating the book because it doesn't punish the men while we hang on for dear life to the things we do wrong.

Incredible Book--Don't let the religion scare you off! 5 out of 5 stars.

This is the most amazing book. These guys combine so much practical wisdom, so much insight into relationships. The idea that I should be sharing my opinions, preferences, likes--whether in music, politics, clothing, whatever ... the idea that I should be sharing this directly with someone as part of defining my boundaries is simply revolutionary to me.


Somewhere along the way, I started holding back on my opinions and preferences when meeting new people. That creates two problems: one, people do not get to see or get to know who I am, what I really like, what I don't like. So I am stifling myself, keeping folks at a distance. Two, others who want to find me (who like my preferences, etc. or who simply want to know me better) can get this information more quickly when I share it early on. There's so many other insights here about wisely choosing partners, about assuming responsibility for your relationships.

I'm going to read more of these guys' books.

One note--I delayed reading this book because of the Christianity. When I finally picked it up and gave it fair reading, I saw that the Christianity is extremely ecumenical and open. The authors quote passages from the Bible in ways that reinforce common sense and common insights from psychology and psychotherapy and relationships. No guilt or judgmental thing going on ... If you're not Christian, I think you still might like this book.

I am eager to begin to practice some of this stuff.

The authors have done an excellent job with the questions/topics in this book! We've talked about most of the questions in a round about way, but we've deceided to write (there's space, we assumed for writing) our answers in and many times there is a different point thrown in that we end up talking about the rest of the evening!

I learned about "The Five Love Languages" from a former coworker who found it incredibly helpful in his marriage. Not being married myself, I purchased this version for singles.

I have recommed this book (or the original) to just about everyone I know and a many I don't!

The concepts are so simple but yet profound. Understanding the primary love languages of my friends, family and even coworkers has been very helpful and has strengthened our relationships.

The only negative feedback I would give is in regards to the Physical Touch chapter... it isn't until then that you truly realize this is a Christian book! I deeply respect Mr. Chapman but think he should know that people have pre-marital sex and it is not a sin! Aside from that, this (or the original) is a MUST READ!!!

I have lived a year with a spouse engaged in infidelity. Shock and despair have been my constant companions. All the crying, pleading, yelling, begging, and reasoning did no good at all - my spouse kept relapsing into the affair. At last he was talking of moving out and really taking up with the lover. Once I took the advice of the book, that very first week my spouse went into a tailspin and I felt much more centered and stronger. It was a week from hell for my spouse and a week where various people told me how great I looked! I have discovered that you really have to act in the opposite way that your feelings are telling you to act in this kind of a crisis. Be calm and firm in expressing your boundaries (you are free to leave or stay as you like but if you stay you cannot be in contact with the lover). Open the cage door and have backbone. You have to be willing to back it up. My process in not finished but things are looking up for the first time in a year. It has been almost a month since I took the advice and my spouse is still at home, appologised for all he has put me through and says he thinks he can resist the tempation to be in contact with the lover while he lives under the same roof with me. I read this book together with the book "Not Just Friends" by Shirley Glass which helped me to understand extramarital affairs very clearly. I strongly recommend reading both. I am not a practicing Christian and this orientation in the book is not a problem - the advice is very sound from a psychological standpoint.

I bought this product because my son had one (also called the "Shark") that would pick up sizable dog kibbies off the floor. This one was $20.00 more than he paid and it does an OK job if you're looking for a quick cleanup. The suction does not seem to be nearly that of what my son had, but it will pick up dog hair and crumbs and such. Also, I find that the bagless compartment has to be emptied quite often. Sorry, I couldn't say more. I was really excited to buy this machine, but not so excited when I actually used it.

For a short book, this one packs it all in. This is outstanding as a pre-marriage book as well as an indispensable aid for husbands. If you were to bring these principles into your marriage, it would be guaranteed to improve. Even if you've read a bunch of marriage books I think you'll still learn some new stuff in this one. This book is very useful and user friendly, especially for those who like lists. I'm guessing this will be a book I'll keep referring to...
