The book is supposed to come with the training software on CD. The CD did not include the training software, only some practice files to use with the book which I can't use because there is no software. The book clearly states that the software is on the CD and even gives instructions on installation. The item is misrepresented. I wasted money on this purchase. I have purchased similar training materials on this website and never had a problem before. The seller was no help to me. He wanted me to contact the publisher and to resolve the issues on my own. I will never make a purchase from this site again.

The 2^nd book in a new series of texts designed for Computerized Accounting courses that focus on Peachtree, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Accounting, or Great Plains shows students what is actually happening behind the numbers. Each chapter features a manual accounting procedure that illustrates the transaction recording in a manual accounting system, before recording the same transaction in the software. Tracing the audit trail of a posted entry teaches students why they need to make an entry and how that entry will influence the accounting. With a better understanding of how data entries affect the accounting, students are better equipped to make corrections to existing entries and understand the results that will come from these corrections.

I bought the book to help with my diet because I've noticed that my emotions and what I do with them has a big effect upon when I eat and what I eat. Emotional intelligence was extremely helpful in understanding what to do with my feelings on the rough days, and is making the diet go much better. I thought the online emotional intelligence test that came with the book is neat.

EASY 1-2-3 BOOK; HIDDEN PAYROLL SECRETS REVEALED 4 out of 5 stars.

For people who just want to know how to use Quickbooks so they can get on with their business, this book is straight and to-the-point. Every page is in a 1-2-3-4-5-6 step format, which is quite easy to follow. Also, unlike some books, Show Me Quickbooks does address the Payroll function (a part of Quickbooks which Intuit--since it wants users to subscribe to its Quickbooks Payroll Service for a monthly fee--has programmed to be, without 'tweaking', initially unuseable.
To access the payroll function, you must first make sure the initial "full payroll" option is activated. Do this by clicking Edit/Preferences/Payroll & Employees/Company Preferences, and checking the "Full Payroll" option.

Next, on page 39, under the heading "Set up Payroll Deductions" the book tells you to select the "Payroll Item List" from the Lists Menu. News flash--there is no "Payroll Item List". For the benefit of others who encounter this problem...I was able to make the Payroll Items list magically appear by performing the following steps (THESE STEPS ARE NOT SHOWN IN THE BOOK):
1. Type "payroll item" in the search box.
2. From the selections available, click "adding payroll items"
3. Click "payroll setup interview"
4. Click "What if menu item isn't there"
5. Click "payroll manually"
6. Click "set my company file to use manual calculations"....and (after a dire warning that daring to proceed will alter your program forever), the program initializes the manual payroll function.
7. Voila! The Payroll List, and the ability to do your own payroll without paying for the Quickbooks Online Payroll Service magically appears in your Quickbooks 2006 program.

"I have QuickBooks, Now What" recently went through a name change. This informative book was formely named Computerized Bookkeeping in Laymen's Terms and was written with my clients questions and needs in mind. We changed the name to better fit the consumer who is buying QuickBooks and is asking, Now What? It was written for the blue collar workers throughout the US who are not Harvard Graduates, but Self-Trained Entrepreneurs and tradesman who don't speak proper english. This book is the only Laymen's Term guide for the other 70% of the US Small Business population to finally figure out. It answers those questions asked to me hundreds of times. "If my business has QuickBooks and I use the instruction manual that comes with the program, WHAT do I set up my books with? What paperwork do I need,what are the Chart of Accounts, and what am I forgetting?" Every QuickBooks instruction book has templates, how to set up accounts, how to bill customers, etc. What they don't have is Why, With What, and How do you read a financial report and what does it mean? What do I do to keep on top of my bookkeeping so my Accountant doesn't charge me a fortune at the end of the year? It is a wonderful tool that helps the small business owner answer the questions in a language that they speak .

The book is not quite as "comprehensive" as you are led to believe since the publisher refuses to release the answers to the public! There are multiple choice questions and of course reports and other work you are required to do from chapter to chapter -- but with no answers provided! Many adult learners enjoy teaching themselves, I know that I do, but I cannot recommend this book since there is no way of knowing if you are on track or not.
