I am an English instructor of ESL students, many who are preparing for the Toefl exam. I have reviewed 5 books myself before recommending students buy one. While this book appears to be well organized, WATCH OUT!!! It is loaded with typos and errors from the start.

For example, in the Model Test 1: Pretest, I counted 11 errors in just 5 pages!!!

For example, They indicate which paragraph to read, and have them numbered incorrectly (1 and 2 are ok, but they have questions for paragraph 5 and there are only 4 paragraphs!)

Vocabulary words on the test should be highlighted, but they missed one, so a student has to search for it in the paragraph, thus wasting valuable time for a timed test.

For the question asking the student to insert a sentence, the correct answer is "C" and the answer key has the correct answer as "B" - which is NOT correct!! Then they go on to say why B is correct, while explaining the answer response for "C". This is just careless and unforgivable for a test publisher!

On one answer - where three choices are required - they list the correct choices as: "E, F and D". Fine, but why not make it: D, E, and F?

The Toefl test is difficult enough for ESL students, and I would NEVER recommend a book that makes the test literally impossible and so confusing.

The Princeton books are so far, my top picks.

The second edition is just as good as the first... 5 out of 5 stars.

I remember reading the first edition of Gina Trapani's Upgrade Your Life: The Lifehacker Guide to Working Smarter, Faster, Better and thinking how wonderful it was. Of course, when the second edition came out, I had to get that one too. And as with the first one, I have all sorts of post-it notes scattered throughout the book for reference and "go back and try this" notes. Well worth the time and money you spend here.

Over the span of the chapters above, Trapani presents 116 different "hacks" that you can incorporate into your daily computer life to, well... work smarter, faster, and better. As with most books that are a compilation of different tips, some will resonate strongly with your current needs, while others are skimming material that may not be relevant. For instance, the hacks in the first chapter, Organize Your Data, hit home. I'm working towards consolidating multiple email addresses with Gmail, and I'm cutting down the number of folders I have, relying on search to find what I need. Master The Web also had some cool tricks, like having multiple home pages in Firefox and using Google Notebook for web clippings. I wasn't quite into the Managing Multiple Computers as much, as my current setup doesn't call for that. Still, it's good information to have around should you need it at a later time.

I actually found a couple different things occurring as I read through the material. There were hacks where some software was presented that did a certain task, and I'd realize I've been looking for something just like that. Similar to scratching an itch that you couldn't quite reach. Then there were the hacks that opened your eyes to whole areas you didn't even know you needed. Let's call that finding AND scratching the itch you didn't know you had five minutes prior. After going through some of the Automate Repetitive Tasks hacks, I have started to look at a lot of things I do with a view towards eliminating the manual repetitive effort that I just accepted as necessary before.

I highly recommend this book to everyone who spends most of their waking hours in front of a computer, and/or earn their living in front of one. Taking away even a small handful of nuggets can radically change the way you do things.

I purchased Step by Step. This had a disc at the back of the book which was to be used for practice lessons. This does not work. I downloaded the system many times, without success. I found an item on the net which explained that there was a problem with the system and it gave instructions to cure this - but this does not work either. I wrote to Windows and they did not reply.

I purchased Plain and Simple - and that is what it is, easy to understand and use. I recommend it.

I'm a relative newbie to the notion of SEO. This book was just the right tool to help me quickly understand what I needed to know.

The amount of detail is perfect, and the third party references very useful.

I've already recommended it to friends, all of which I'm sure will equally benefit.

When I got this book I didn't think that it would be full of many things. I thought I would use it only to brush up on my skills. Believe it or not this book is whamp packed with little hints and tricks that you might find useful.

If you have done some SEO techniques before then most of the major topics in this book will be of no use to you. Saying that though, there are some little gems of tips and tricks inside that makes this book worth while.

If you are starting out with SEO I would recommend this book to anyone, If have dived into the realm of SEO then this book will show you some hints and tips you might not have seen before
