The book contains over 130 quantitative questions collected from actual investment banking, investment management, and options trading job interviews. The interviewers use the same questions year after year and here they are! These questions come from all types of interviews (corporate finance, sales and trading, quantitative research, etc), but they are especially likely in quantitative capital markets job interviews. The questions come from all levels of interviews (undergraduate, MBA, PhD), but they are especially likely if you have, or almost have, an MBA. The questions cover pure quantitative/logic, financial economics, derivatives, and statistics. Each quantitative question in the book is accompanied by a very detailed solution and by helpful advice. The latest edition also includes about 100 non-quantitative actual interview questions. Timothy Crack has a PhD from MIT. He has won many teaching awards and has publications in the top academic, practitioner, and teaching journals in finance. He has degrees in Mathematics/Statistics, Finance, and Financial Economics and a diploma in Accounting/Finance. Dr. Crack taught at the university level for 17 years including four years as a front line teaching assistant for MBA students at MIT. He now heads a quantitative active equity research team at the world's largest institutional money manager.

Contrary to what another reviewer said, this book doesn't have two full-length exams, or at least not the edition I have (2005). It has the AM and PM sections of a full-length exam.

Other reviews also mention the tips in this book, but the real value in this book is all the actual MBE questions from past exams as well as the explanation to those questions (including the full-length exam). I have found that the barbri and PMBR questions and answer choices are noticeably different much of the time from these past questions and their answer choices. Both companies make their questions long, and barbri's are unnecessarily long. But most actual questions are short. Barbri's explanations are also long and repetitive, whereas the explanations in this book are more concise. Most importantly, these questions are harder than the ones you're doing from barbri and even PMBR. Even the majority of the questions in the one barbri book that has past MBE questions in it are easier in comparison. If you can understand the questions/explanations in this book, you will be prepared for the bar.

As for the tips, I have found around two or three extremely valuable ones in each section that I've read so far. This is not to say the majority of the tips/writing in the book is helpful or that you can use this book without barbri/subject outlines. But the helpful tips that I got out of this book are ones that barbri doesn't spell out and I wouldn't have figured out on my own. Those tips alone really will raise your score, because you will get at least a few more questions right in every single subject from them.

I agree that this book is pricey, but if you can find a cheaper copy somewhere then that's your best bet because you need this book.

Excellent NREMT exam prep 5 out of 5 stars.

This is an excellent review for the NREMT exam for EMT-B certification. It is well organized, helps you pinpoint areas where you need to study more, and is written very much like the actual test.

The questions in these practice tests are much more difficult than those found in online practice tests, which tend to be over-simplified. Just as important, this book is from an authoritative source; I found some answers in the online sources which were just plain wrong.

The NREMT exam is as much about test-taking ability as it is about subject matter knowledge, and that's where this book really helps. In particular, there are many questions on the actual exam where the choices contain information which looks very simple at first glance, but which in fact contains very subtle differences. The questions in this book give you those types of choices, and train you to read each question carefully looking for those nuances which are the difference between a right answer and a wrong answer.

Your first time through the questions in this book may be a wake-up call if you don't really know your stuff. But it's better to get a wake-up call before the test, rather than during the test. I passed on the first try. Good luck!

Brief But Invaluable Lessons 5 out of 5 stars.

While this book is short, it's also dense with life-changing suggestions. It's format makes it easy to re-read by picking and choosing which lessons you want to apply to your own life. Some of the suggestions are common sense and some are not. The real worth of the book won't be apparent until after you've implemented some of the Beckwiths' ideas and seen the change in your own life. This sounds a little cheesy, but it's the truth!

New Applying to PA School Book Available 4 out of 5 stars.

My wife read this book when applying to PA school, but was dissapointed that it had not been updated for many years. After completing and subsequently teaching in PA school, she wrote her own book on applying to PA school, which she recently listed on Amazon: An Applicant's Guide to Physician Assistant School and Practice.

While she would not foist her book on anyone, I have no such reservations. After reading her book (many times), I highly recommend checking out her book in addition to Mr. Rodican's.

This book was right on point...before I chose this book, I was concerned if it had everything that I needed and it did. I was also impressed with the condition of the book. So going forward, I will be ordering all of my text books from Amazon.

After going through all the GMAT books, here is my honest opinion about some of the most popular GMAT books:

Official Guide:
Pros - Excellent source of GMAT questions. Very well organized with real test like questions.
Cons - No review of any math content or test-taking strategies. Not enough explanations of practice questions.
Overall, the Official Guide is a must have for all test-takers. It will give you a good idea about the type of questions to expect on the GMAT; however, if you need more than just a bank of questions, you need to look at some other source.

Kaplan:
Pros - Good for additional practice questions as a supplement
Cons - Review of math content is not thorough but just the very basics. Not enough explanation of test taking strategies. Full of guessing techniques with no real mathematical solutions. Not good enough explanations of practice questions. Unrealistic questions.

Princeton:
Pros - Good for additional practice questions as a supplement
Cons - Review of math content is not thorough but just the very basics. Not enough explanation of test taking strategies. Full of guessing techniques with no real mathematical solutions. Not good enough explanations of practice questions. Weird sense of humor.

Barrons:
Pros - Good math review. Big list of questions. Good test taking strategies. Very well organized. This is by far the best of the all-in-one kinds of books.
Cons - Although the book has a good math review, it doesn't go deep enough into each concept. Not enough explanations to practice questions. Does not have a good section for logical reasoning (permutation, combination, probability, etc) questions, which is one of the most important question-type. Does not break down the concepts/questions step by step.

EZ Solutions (set of 9 books):
Pros - Thorough math review from A to Z. Effective test taking strategies. Abundant solved examples. Numerous practice exercises. Great practice question bank in basic and advanced workbooks.
As with most books, you are expected to already have a good knowledge about the various match concepts, but with these books, you can literally start from scratch and reach the most advanced level of the GMAT.
Cons - To get the best result from these books, you have to invest in buying several books (set of 9 books), but if you compare the cost and benefits, the benefits outweigh the cost, or you can buy a few not all. Missing the verbal section. This is not a good option if you are looking for a mediocre score or just looking for a very basic brush-up. Recommended for serious test takers only.

Some of the other books has no real content; whereas, there are some other books that I haven't yet had an opportunity to review, but may be some of them are good supplementary aids.

I hope my review will help some of you in making the right decision.

If you are looking for the typical career guide that is a dry list of job titles, job descriptions, and employers that is old news the day it goes to print, this is NOT it. Careers in Renewable Energy is what students and career-changing folks will WANT and NEED and can USE to find validation and inspiration as they embark on a career solving our growing sustainability problems!

I teach an undergraduate Earth Sustainability course that gets students fired up to work toward changes in the ways we produce and consume energy globally. While it's great that they have that motivation, few know where to direct it. I've shared my copy of Careers in Renewable Energy with them, and it seems to go from student to student, never making it back to my bookshelf between!

The author provides backgrounds on each category of renewables (e.g. hydrogen, solar, wind, geothermal, hydro) as well as applications (e.g. building, transportation). From there, he talks about skill sets and courses that provide the best foundation for various areas and job functions. These roadmaps can be used to customize a curriculum that best prepares one to work in a given renewable energy field. And as we know, energy problems don't align neatly with a given university department!

Mr. McNamee presents a carefully assembled set of tools, really, to help one on a journey toward a career in renewable energy. There's information on the green universities, certifications, associations, job sites, and publications. The author takes a very holistic approach to career selection and preparation. It's not about "how can I earn the most money" but more about "how can I find a way to contribute to solving our energy crisis?"

The book is an enjoyable read, succinct yet complete. It is a must-have for anyone considering a new or different career in renewable energy...or anyone advising them! And if you weren't already considering a new career? You might after you read THIS book! Enjoy :-)
