Simple and to the point 5 out of 5 stars.
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I did not know how to really approach the subject of private parts with my kids without getting into the whole "why are they private" dialogue. For me this discussion would have included a foray into social norms and customs and ended with "because I said so". This book gives the reader a tool to approach the subject with a simplicity and finality that lets the kids know that their private parts are private and that is the end of the story. I found that very helpful.

Editorial Review:

Its primary message is: "America, please teach our young children about their sexuality before the child molester does." In just 12 pages of rhyme, the book * gives parents a great starting point for having important, candid discussions with their children about recognizing and preventing sexual abuse * names the most common perpetrators of sexual abuse in clear, kid friendly language * informs children about the tactics perpetrators use to trick children * equips children with an action plan for telling trusted adults about abuse * empowers children to say "no" and to get righteously angry if abuse happens

I had pd. way to much for this in our college bookstore, I did read through it, but it didnt really help me with any classes or in clinicals. I give it a three because some of the stuff is interesting, but I wouldnt recommend this to anyone. I would recommend pharmocology made easy.

Excellent! 5 out of 5 stars.

Just what we needed! 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I ordered this book at the recommendation of the psychologist who tested our daughter for ADD. It is written for older children and teenagers who have ADD or ADHD. My daughter, age 17, found it interesting. It helped her know that she was not the only one with this condition and gave her many tips for coping with life. Although I found much of it redundant, the book helped me see ADD from the perspective of a teenager.

A Must for parents and educators 5 out of 5 stars.
7 of 7 people found this review helpful.

This book is a must for parents of ADHD children as well as educators. As both a parent of an ADHD child and a teacher, I found this book enlightening as well as practical. It is a very easy read, in fact, I read it in two days. It is easy to understand and is written in layman terms not scientific/medical jargon. It explains so many aspects ADHD is language that parents can understand and offers some sensible solutions to everyday problems. This book has become by ADHD bible.

Editorial Review:

A Bird’s-Eye View of Life with ADD & ADHD was written expressly for teenagers and children by twelve teens and a young adult who are living with this challenging condition. These young people offer the best kind of advice—advice based upon first-hand experience. This book offers factual information and practical strategies in words and examples that young people can easily understand and put into practice. It also leaves teens and their families with a sense of hope that they too will survive this sometimes overwhelming disorder.

Needed a change and this was the perfect guide! 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

I knew I needed a change in life and a new career. But I new it needed to be something that paid decent and would give me job security. So I bought this book, read about the different fields and then handed it over to my teenage daughter to get her thinking about her future....This book guided me in the right direction and now I am in school and will graduate in early 2008. I will have job security and a decent salary until I retire. If you are interested in the medical field then this book is a great guide in helping you decide what you would like to do and how much education you need, where to go to school and what exams you must pass. Great book for those looking for a career change or just thinking of trying something else in life.

Editorial Review:

This book offers a distinct advantage over other books of this type. It is two books in one - a comprehensive Career Guide plus a dynamic Job Finder. First, it presents comprehensive health care occupational descriptions and then provides resources to locate job announcements, job hotlines, job fairs, placement services, directories, associations, and job related books. This dual format permits comparisons between specialities and offers insight into qualifications, cross training potential, and pay. You can easily locate occupations with similar skills and required training. Opportunities abound for all levels of education from a high school diploma to Doctorate Degrees. Each occupational description lists required education and/or on-the-job training.

Best Book On Freelancing I've Ever Read 5 out of 5 stars.
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This is simply one of the best books for starting a freelance art career that I've ever read. This book gives you very practical information about almost every detail of freelance illustration and graphic design. You'll find information on creating business and financial plans, setting up and managing a studio, billing procedures, creating a portfolio and marketing yourself to potential clients. I find a lot of books of this nature don't talk about the raw mechanics of business so much as they offer token inspiration and motivation. If you're interested in a book that will actually give you useful information about the business side of freelancing this is the one to buy.

The only areas where it seemed to be a little on the thin side were dealing with taxes and the legal issues concerned with working for youself. Other than that it was wonderful.

Editorial Review:

Technology has sent shockwaves of change through the world of commercial art. Digital illustration and design, online portfolio sites, and the proliferation of stock art have radically changed the way that illustrators and graphic designers work. What has not changed, however, is the wealth of illustrators and graphic designers hoping to turn their talent into freelance success. More than ever, artists face questions such as how to get started, how to sell their work, how to promote themselves, and what to do once they are working. For those embarking on freelance careers in illustration or graphic design, the answers have arrived. A twenty-five year veteran in the field, Michael Fleishman, has detailed every business aspect of commercial art in Starting Your Career as a Freelance Illustrator or Graphic Designer.

Exceptional Book! 5 out of 5 stars.
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

I highly recommend this book to anyone even slightly curious about the voice over industry. It is extremely informative and detailed yet wonderfully entertaining and interesting. Drawing from their many of years of experience in this field, Randy Thomas and Peter Rofé navigate through the dos and don'ts with intelligence, sensitivity and charm and provide the insight, details and perspectives that only those who have worked in this industry for many years can truly provide. Commentary from other successful voice-over actors adds beautifully to the various topics and underscores the value and importance of the advice imparted by these professionals. After reading Randy and Peter's book, I could not help but get excited about their profession and to feel fortunate to have benefited from their experiences. I have read several books on this topic but "VOICE FOR HIRE (How to Launch and Maintain A Lucrative Voice-Over Career) is by far the best I have read. It is, I believe, a must read for all of those who aspire to doing voice-over work professionally.

Editorial Review:

This book is designed to teach aspiring voice artists, in a step-by-step format, how to break into an extremely competitive marketplace.  There is no single or definitive path to making money in voice-overs, although there are certain trends and truths that can inform your career.  Voice for Hire is a sensible, chronological order of those steps you need to take to achive your goals, along with insightful comments and stories from the voice-over industry's top agents, casting directors, producers, and, of course, artists. Voice for Hire will help you open the door and stay in the room once you get there.

Great book 5 out of 5 stars.
5 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Great author, too. I had him as a Criminal Justice professor at Grand Valley State University. He was an adjunct professor there for a couple of years. Very nice, very knowledgeable. This book is a good reference and starting point. Sure, most of the information is available on the Internet, but why go through all the trouble of finding it when it can all be at your fingertips?

Not much info here. 1 out of 5 stars.
3 of 9 people found this review helpful.

I thought that this would be a good book to help me prepare for the phase 1 testing and what else is to come. Most of the recomendations are just common sense and all of the information was redily available on the internet for free.

Great reference, but in need of a revision 3 out of 5 stars.
3 of 5 people found this review helpful.

This book is a wonderful backgrounder on the FBI, its history, and how things work within the agency. The list of field offices and the areas they cover was alone worth the cost of the book. The interview hints were sparce, but very applicable. The problem is the application process has changed in some pretty dramatic ways since this book was published. The FBI now uses on-line applications and the application form has been changed. The needs and focus of the Bureau have also changed since 9/11

Yes, this book was helpful. But if you are interested in applying to the FBI, contact the Applicant Coordinator in your local field office and search the web for a law enforcement employment message board to get the latest news in the world of FBI hiring.

Editorial Review:

The definitive guide to acing the FBI's rigorous selection process-for special agents as well as professional support personnel.
