This is simply one of the best self help books to be produced in a decade. And it's useful for nearly any form of psychological issue that you may be struggling with. What makes this book a gem is the CD which will guide you through various meditation and relaxation exercises. As a neuroscience researcher exploring the effects of meditation on the brain (see Newberg and Waldman's forthcoming book, How God Changes Your Brain: Breakthrough Findings from a Leading Neuroscientist, I am convinced that this is one of the best ways there is to substantially reduce depression, anxiety, and stress in anyone. Even if you don't read the book, listen to the CD. It will definitely change your brain, and your life.

Its practical, clinical perspective and user-friendly writing style engage the reader in a learning process that both informs and enlightens. Must Have 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a must have book for anyone in Gross Anatomy. The actual pictures of the dissections are amazing and definitely help you get ready for lab practicals.

Excellent resource 5 out of 5 stars.
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a fantastic supplement for gross anatomy. Netter's Atlas is better for visualizing the basic concepts of anatomy, and I would recommend purchasing that book before this one. If you can afford two anatomy supplements, though, the Color Atlas should be next on your list. No drawing can really replace an actual dissection. This atlas is much more useful for studying in preparation for a practical exam, whereas Netter's might better serve you when studying for your written. This (like Netter's) is also a rarity of a medical text insofar as it also makes a great coffee table book (if you don't have squeamish friends).

Editorial Review:

This atlas includes full-color photographs of actual cadaver dissections instead of idealized illustrations, to accurately and realistically represent anatomical structures. Often used by students as an alternative or supplement to their lab experience, and as an introduction to exactly what they should see before they dissect, as well as a study aid before practical/identification exams.

Editorial Review:

While physics can seem challenging, its true quality is the sheer simplicity of fundamental physical theories--theories and concepts that can enrich your view of the world around you. COLLEGE PHYSICS, 8e, provides a clear strategy for connecting those theories to a consistent problem-solving approach, carefully reinforcing this methodology throughout the text and connecting it to real-world examples. For students planning to take the MCAT exam, the text includes exclusive test prep and review tools to help you prepare.

Editorial Review:

From primordial nothingness to this very moment, A Short History of Nearly Everything reports what happened and how humans figured it out. To accomplish this daunting literary task, Bill Bryson uses hundreds of sources, from popular science books to interviews with luminaries in various fields. His aim is to help people like him, who rejected stale school textbooks and dry explanations, to appreciate how we have used science to understand the smallest particles and the unimaginably vast expanses of space. With his distinctive prose style and wit, Bryson succeeds admirably. Though A Short History clocks in at a daunting 500-plus pages and covers the same material as every science book before it, it reads something like a particularly detailed novel (albeit without a plot). Each longish chapter is devoted to a topic like the age of our planet or how cells work, and these chapters are grouped into larger sections such as "The Size of the Earth" and "Life Itself." Bryson chats with experts like Richard Fortey (author of Life and Trilobite) and these interviews are charming. But it's when Bryson dives into some of science's best and most embarrassing fights--Cope vs. Marsh, Conway Morris vs. Gould--that he finds literary gold. --Therese Littleton

another well-written and popular text by David Moore 5 out of 5 stars.
14 of 14 people found this review helpful.

David Moore is a Professor of Statistics at Purdue University. He is both a great teacjer and a scholar. In addition to one or two well-written advanced books he has written a number of high quality introductory statistics books and has led the movement toward AP statistics in the high schools and active learning methods for tesching statistics at the elementary, middle and high school levels as well as at the universities.

This book is a new edition of his highly successful introductory text. This is only slightly more advanced than the text "The Basic Practice of Statistics" also written by Moore. This edition can only be as good or better than the one U have read. The inclusion of a CD for use in the course can only be a significant edition to this applied text.

Editorial Review:

With its focus on data analysis, statistical reasoning, and the way statisticians actually work, Introduction to the Practice of Statistics (IPS) helped bring the power of critical thinking and practical applications to today's statistics classroom. Unlike more traditional “plug and chug” /formula driven texts, IPS de-emphasizes probability and gives students a deeper understanding of statistics.

This book, without a doubt, helped my family more than any other understand our BLPD inlaw,it's easy to read and you know the author has dealt with this disorder and knows what she's talking about.

Crack the egg 4 out of 5 stars.

The book was well laid out, with good examples. I was able to put together a coherent picture of what I was experiencing, and began to put my experiences in a better perspective. Although not everything in the book pertained to my relationship, it certainly illuminated many aspects of what I was feeling and what I ultimately gained the courage to do.

Editorial Review:
